| Numbers 25:1 | And Israel at that time abode in Settim, and the people committed fornication with the daughters of Moab, | Israel abode in Shittim; and the people began to play the prostitute with the daughters of Moab: | And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. |
| Numbers 25:2 | Who called them to their sacrifices. And they ate of them, and adored their gods. | for they called the people to the sacrifices of their gods; and the people ate, and bowed down to their gods. | And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. |

And the scourge ceased from the children of Israel: | and he went after the man of Israel into the pavilion, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her body.
