John 9:1And Jesus passing by, saw a man, who was blind from his birth:As he passed by, he saw a man blind from his birth. And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man who was blind from his birth.
John 9:2And his disciples asked him: Rabbi, who hath sinned, this man, or his parents, that he should be born blind? His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
John 9:3Jesus answered: Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents; but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.Jesus answered, "Neither did this man sin, nor his parents. But, that the works of God might be revealed in him,Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
John 9:4I must work the works of him that sent me, whilst it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.I must work the works of him who sent me, while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work.I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh when no man can work.
John 9:5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. When I am in the world, I am the light of the world."As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
John 9:6When he had said these things, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and spread the clay on his eyes,When he had said this, he spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva, anointed the blind man's eyes with the mud,When he had thus spoken, he spit on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
John 9:7And said to him: Go, wash in the pool of Siloe, which is interpreted, Sent. He went therefore, and washed, and he came seeing.and said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which means "Sent"). So he went away, washed, and came seeing. And said to him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
John 9:8The neighbours therefore, and they who had seen him before that he was a beggar, said: Is not this he that sat and begged? Some said: This is he.The neighbors therefore, and those who saw that he was blind, before, said, "Isn't this he who sat and begged?"The neighbors therefore, and they who before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
John 9:9But others said: No, but he is like him. But he said: I am he.Others said, "It is he." Still others said, "He is like him." He said, "I am he."Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
John 9:10They said therefore to him: How were thy eyes opened? They said therefore to him, "How were your eyes opened?"Therefore they said to him, How were thy eyes opened?
John 9:11He answered: That man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said to me: Go to the pool of Siloe, and wash. And I went, I washed, and I see.He answered, "A man called Jesus made mud, anointed my eyes, and said to me, "Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash." So I went away and washed, and I received sight."He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus, made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said to me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
John 9:12And they said to him: Where is he? He saith: I know not. Then they asked him, "Where is he?" He said, "I don't know."Then said they to him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
John 9:13They bring him that had been blind to the Pharisees. They brought him who before was blind to the Pharisees. They brought to the Pharisees him that before was blind.
John 9:14Now it was the sabbath, when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.It was a Sabbath when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes. And it was the sabbath when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
John 9:15Again therefore the Pharisees asked him, how he had received his sight. But he said to them: He put clay upon my eyes, and I washed, and I see.Again therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight. He said to them, "He put mud on my eyes, I washed, and I see."Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said to them, He put clay upon my eyes, and I washed, and do see.
John 9:16Some therefore of the Pharisees said: This man is not of God, who keepeth not the sabbath. But others said: How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them. Some therefore of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God, because he doesn't keep the Sabbath." Others said, "How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?" There was division among them. Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
John 9:17They say therefore to the blind man again: What sayest thou of him that hath opened they eyes? And he said: He is a prophet. Therefore they asked the blind man again, "What do you say about him, in that he opened your eyes?" He said, "He is a prophet."They say to the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thy eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
John 9:18The Jews then did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight,The Jews therefore did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight,But the Jews did not believe concerning him that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
John 9:19And asked them, saying: Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then doth he now see?and asked them, "Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?"And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
John 9:20His parents answered them, and said: We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:His parents answered them, "We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind; His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
John 9:21But how he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: ask himself: he is of age, let him speak for himself.but how he now sees, we don't know; or who opened his eyes, we don't know. He is of age. Ask him. He will speak for himself."But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he will speak for himself.
John 9:22These things his parents said, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had already agreed among themselves, that if any man should confess him to be Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. His parents said these things because they feared the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if any man would confess him as Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue. These words his parents spoke, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man confessed that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
John 9:23Therefore did his parents say: He is of age, ask himself. Therefore his parents said, "He is of age. Ask him."Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
John 9:24They therefore called the man again that had been blind, and said to him: Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner. So they called the man who was blind a second time, and said to him, "Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner."Then again they called the man that was blind, and said to him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
John 9:25He said therefore to them: If he be a sinner, I know not: one thing I know, that whereas I was blind, now I see.He therefore answered, "I don't know if he is a sinner. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see."He answered and said, Whether he is a sinner, I know not: one thing I know, that whereas I was blind, now I see.
John 9:26They said then to him: What did he to thee? How did he open thy eyes? They said to him again, "What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?"Then they said to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thy eyes?
John 9:27He answered them: I have told you already, and you have heard: why would you hear it again? will you also become his disciples? He answered them, "I told you already, and you didn't listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become his disciples?"He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: Why would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
John 9:28They reviled him therefore, and said: Be thou his disciple; but we are the disciples of Moses. They became abusive towards him and said, "You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses. Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are the disciples of Moses.
John 9:29We know that God spoke to Moses: but as to this man, we know not from whence he is.We know that God has spoken to Moses. But as for this man, we don't know where he comes from."We know that God spoke to Moses: as for this man, we know not whence he is.
John 9:30The man answered, and said to them: Why, herein is a wonderful thing, that you know not from whence he is, and he hath opened my eyes. The man answered them, "How amazing! You don't know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. The man answered and said to them, Why, herein is a marvelous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened my eyes.
John 9:31Now we know that God doth not hear sinners: but if a man be a server of God, and doth his will, him he heareth. We know that God doesn't listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshipper of God, and does his will, he listens to him.Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man is a worshiper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
John 9:32From the beginning of the world it hath not been heard, that any man hath opened the eyes of one born blind.Since the world began it has never been heard of that anyone opened the eyes of a man born blind.Since the world began hath it not been heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
John 9:33Unless this man were of God, he could not do any thing. If this man were not from God, he could do nothing."If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.
John 9:34They answered, and said to him: Thou wast wholly born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out. They answered him, "You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us?" They threw him out. They answered and said to him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? and they cast him out.
John 9:35Jesus heard that they had cast him out: and when he had found him, he said to him: Dost thou believe in the Son of God?Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and finding him, he said, "Do you believe in the Son of God?"Jesus heard that they had cast him out: and when he had found him, he said to him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
John 9:36He answered, and said: Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?He answered, "Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?"He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I may believe on him?
John 9:37And Jesus said to him: Thou hast both seen him; and it is he that talketh with thee.Jesus said to him, "You have both seen him, and it is he who speaks with you."And Jesus said to him, thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
John 9:38And he said: I believe, Lord. And falling down, he adored him.He said, "Lord, I believe!" and he worshipped him.And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshiped him.
John 9:39And Jesus said: For judgment I am come into this world; that they who see not, may see; and they who see, may become blind.Jesus said, "I came into this world for judgment, that those who don't see may see; and that those who see may become blind."And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they who see not, may see; and that they who see, may be made blind.
John 9:40And some of the Pharisees, who were with him, heard: and they said unto him: Are we also blind? Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said to him, "Are we also blind?"And some of the Pharisees who were with him heard these words, and said to him, Are we blind also?
John 9:41Jesus said to them: If you were blind, you should not have sin: but now you say: We see. Your sin remaineth.Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, 'We see.' Therefore your sin remains.Jesus said to them, If ye were blind, ye would have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
