| Numbers 17:1 | And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: | Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, | |
| Numbers 17:2 | Speak to the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod by their kindreds, of all the princes of the tribes, twelve rods, and write the name of every man upon his rod. | Speak to the children of Israel, and take of them rods, one for each fathers' house, of all their princes according to their fathers' houses, twelve rods: write you every man's name on his rod. | |
| Numbers 17:3 | And the name of Aaron shall be for the tribe of Levi, and one rod shall contain all their families: | You shall write Aaron's name on the rod of Levi; for there shall be one rod for each head of their fathers' houses. | |
| Numbers 17:4 | And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the covenant before the testimony, where I will speak to thee. | You shall lay them up in the tent of meeting before the testimony, where I meet with you. | |

| Numbers 17:13 | Whosoever approacheth to the tabernacle of the Lord, he dieth. Are we all to a man to be utterly destroyed? | Everyone who comes near, who comes near to the tent of Yahweh, dies: shall we perish all of us? | |
