| Acts 28:1 | And when we had escaped, then we knew that the island was called Melita. But the barbarians shewed us no small courtesy. | When we had escaped, then we knew that the island was called Malta. | And having been saved, then they knew that the island is called Melita, |
| Acts 28:2 | For kindling a fire, they refreshed us all, because of the present rain, and of the cold. | The natives showed us no common kindness; for they kindled a fire, and received us all, because of the present rain, and because of the cold. | and the foreigners were shewing us no ordinary kindness, for having kindled a fire, they received us all, because of the pressing rain, and because of the cold; |

| Acts 28:6 | But they supposed that he would begin to swell up, and that he would suddenly fall down and die. But expecting long, and seeing that there came no harm to him, changing their minds, they said, that he was a god. | But they expected that he would have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly, but when they were long in expectation and saw nothing bad happen to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god. | and they were expecting him to be about to be inflamed, or to fall down suddenly dead, and they, expecting [it] a long time, and seeing nothing uncommon happening to him, changing [their] minds, said he was a god. |
