Luke 22:1Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the pasch, was at hand.Now the feast of unleavened bread drew near, which is called the Passover.And the feast of the unleavened food was coming nigh, that is called Passover,
Luke 22:2And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put Jesus to death: but they feared the people.The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they may take him up, for they were afraid of the people.
Luke 22:3And Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, one of the twelve.Satan entered into Judas, who was called Iscariot, being numbered with the twelve.And the Adversary entered into Judas, who is surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve,
Luke 22:4And he went, and discoursed with the chief priests and the magistrates, how he might betray him to them.He went away, and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them.and he, having gone away, spake with the chief priests and the magistrates, how he might deliver him up to them,
Luke 22:5And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.They were glad, and agreed to give him money.and they rejoiced, and covenanted to give him money,
Luke 22:6And he promised. And he sought opportunity to betray him in the absence of the multitude.He consented, and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude.and he agreed, and was seeking a favourable season to deliver him up to them without tumult.
Luke 22:7And the day of the unleavened bread came, on which it was necessary that the pasch should be killed.The day of unleavened bread came, on which the Passover must be sacrificed.And the day of the unleavened food came, in which it was behoving the passover to be sacrificed,
Luke 22:8And he sent Peter and John, saying: Go, and prepare for us the pasch, that we may eat.He sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat."and he sent Peter and John, saying, `Having gone on, prepare to us the passover, that we may eat;`
Luke 22:9But they said: Where wilt thou that we prepare?They said to him, "Where do you want us to prepare?"and they said to him, `Where wilt thou that we might prepare?`
Luke 22:10And he said to them: Behold, as you go into the city, there shall meet you a man carrying a pitcher of water: follow him into the house where he entereth in.He said to them, "Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters.And he said to them, `Lo, in your entering into the city, there shall meet you a man, bearing a pitcher of water, follow him to the house where he doth go in,
Luke 22:11And you shall say to the goodman of the house: The master saith to thee, Where is the guest chamber, where I may eat the pasch with my disciples?Tell the master of the house, 'The Teacher says to you, "Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"'and ye shall say to the master of the house, The Teacher saith to thee, Where is the guest-chamber where the passover with my disciples I may eat?
Luke 22:12And he will shew you a large dining room, furnished; and there prepare.He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there."and he shall show you a large upper room furnished, there make ready;`
Luke 22:13And they going, found as he had said to them, and made ready the pasch.They went, found things as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.and they, having gone away, found as he hath said to them, and they made ready the passover.
Luke 22:14And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.And when the hour come, he reclined (at meat), and the twelve apostles with him,
Luke 22:15And he said to them: With desire I have desired to eat this pasch with you, before I suffer.He said to them, "I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,and he said unto them, `With desire I did desire to eat this passover with you before my suffering,
Luke 22:16For I say to you, that from this time I will not eat it, till it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."for I say to you, that no more may I eat of it till it may be fulfilled in the reign of God.`
Luke 22:17And having taken the chalice, he gave thanks, and said: Take, and divide it among you:He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, "Take this, and share it among yourselves,And having taken a cup, having given thanks, he said, `Take this and divide to yourselves,
Luke 22:18For I say to you, that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, till the kingdom of God come.for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God comes."for I say to you that I may not drink of the produce of the vine till the reign of God may come.`
Luke 22:19And taking bread, he gave thanks, and brake; and gave to them, saying: This is my body, which is given for you. Do this for a commemoration of me.He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave to them, saying, "This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me."And having taken bread, having given thanks, he brake and gave to them, saying, `This is my body, that for you is being given, this do ye to remembrance of me.`
Luke 22:20In like manner the chalice also, after he had supped, saying: This is the chalice, the new testament in my blood, which shall be shed for you.He took the cup in like manner after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, that which is poured out for you.In like manner, also, the cup after the supping, saying, `This cup [is] the new covenant in my blood, that for you is being poured forth.
Luke 22:21But yet behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.`But, lo, the hand of him delivering me up [is] with me on the table,
Luke 22:22And the Son of man indeed goeth, according to that which is determined: but yet, woe to that man by whom he shall be betrayed.The Son of Man indeed goes, as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!"and indeed the Son of Man doth go according to what hath been determined; but wo to that man through whom he is being delivered up.`
Luke 22:23And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.They began to question among themselves, which of them it was that would do this thing.And they began to reason among themselves, who then of them it may be, who is about to do this thing.
Luke 22:24And there was also a strife amongst them, which of them should seem to be the greater.There arose also a contention among them, which of them was considered to be greatest.And there happened also a strife among them who of them is accounted to be greater.
Luke 22:25And he said to them: The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and they that have power over them, are called beneficent.He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called 'benefactors.'And he said to them, `The kings of the nations do exercise lordship over them, and those exercising authority upon them are called benefactors;
Luke 22:26But you not so: but he that is the greater among you, let him become as the younger; and he that is the leader, as he that serveth.But not so with you. But one who is the greater among you, let him become as the lesser, and one who is governing, as one who serves.but ye [are] not so, but he who is greater among you let him be as the younger; and he who is leading, as he who is ministering;
Luke 22:27For which is greater, he that sitteth at table, or he that serveth? Is it not he that sitteth at table? But I am in the midst of you, as he that serveth:For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Isn't it he who sits at the table? But I am in the midst of you as one who serves.for who is greater? he who is reclining (at meat), or he who is ministering? is it not he who is reclining (at meat)? and I I am in your midst as he who is ministering.
Luke 22:28And you are they who have continued with me in my temptations:But you are those who have continued with me in my temptations.`And ye ye are those who have remained with me in my temptations,
Luke 22:29And I dispose to you, as my Father hath disposed to me, a kingdom;I appoint to you a kingdom, even as my Father appointed to me,and I appoint to you, as my Father did appoint to me, a kingdom,
Luke 22:30That you may eat and drink at my table, in my kingdom: and may sit upon thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."that ye may eat and may drink at my table, in my kingdom, and may sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.`
Luke 22:31And the Lord said: Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:The Lord said, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat,And the Lord said, `Simon, Simon, lo, the Adversary did ask you for himself to sift as the wheat,
Luke 22:32But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and thou, being once converted, confirm thy brethren.but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn't fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers."and I besought for thee, that thy faith may not fail; and thou, when thou didst turn, strengthen thy brethren.`
Luke 22:33Who said to him: Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.He said to him, "Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!"And he said to him, `Sir, with thee I am ready both to prison and to death to go;`
Luke 22:34And he said: I say to thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, till thou thrice deniest that thou knowest me. And he said to them:He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today, before you deny that you know me three times."and he said, `I say to thee, Peter, a cock shall not crow to-day, before thrice thou mayest disown knowing me.`
Luke 22:35When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, did you want anything?He said to them, "When I sent you out without purse, and wallet, and shoes, did you lack anything?" They said, "Nothing."And he said to them, `When I sent you without bag, and scrip, and sandals, did ye lack anything?` and they said, `Nothing.`
Luke 22:36But they said: Nothing. Then said he unto them: But now he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a scrip; and he that hath not, let him sell his coat, and buy a sword.Then he said to them, "But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.Then said he to them, `But, now, he who is having a bag, let him take [it] up, and in like manner also a scrip; and he who is not having, let him sell his garment, and buy a sword,
Luke 22:37For I say to you, that this that is written must yet be fulfilled in me: And with the wicked was he reckoned. For the things concerning me have an end.For I tell you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: 'He was counted with the lawless.' For that which concerns me has an end."for I say to you, that yet this that hath been written it behoveth to be fulfilled in me: And with lawless ones he was reckoned, for also the things concerning me have an end.`
Luke 22:38But they said: Lord, behold here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.They said, "Lord, behold, here are two swords." He said to them, "That is enough."And they said, `Sir, lo, here [are] two swords;` and he said to them, `It is sufficient.`
Luke 22:39And going out, he went, according to his custom, to the mount of Olives. And his disciples also followed him.He came out, and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives. His disciples also followed him.And having gone forth, he went on, according to custom, to the mount of the Olives, and his disciples also followed him,
Luke 22:40And when he was come to the place, he said to them: Pray, lest ye enter into temptation.When he was at the place, he said to them, "Pray that you don't enter into temptation."and having come to the place, he said to them, `Pray ye not to enter into temptation.`
Luke 22:41And he was withdrawn away from them a stone's cast; and kneeling down, he prayed,He was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and he knelt down and prayed,And he was withdrawn from them, as it were a stone`s cast, and having fallen on the knees he was praying,
Luke 22:42Saying: Father, if thou wilt, remove this chalice from me: but yet not my will, but thine be done.saying, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done."saying, `Father, if Thou be counselling to make this cup pass from me ; but, not my will, but Thine be done.`
Luke 22:43And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony, he prayed the longer.An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.And there appeared to him a messenger from heaven strengthening him;
Luke 22:44And his sweat became as drops of blood, trickling down upon the ground.Being in agony he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.and having been in agony, he was more earnestly praying, and his sweat became, as it were, great drops of blood falling upon the ground.
Luke 22:45And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow.When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping because of grief,And having risen up from the prayer, having come unto the disciples, he found them sleeping from the sorrow,
Luke 22:46And he said to them: Why sleep you? arise, pray, lest you enter into temptation.and said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation."and he said to them, `Why do ye sleep? having risen, pray that ye may not enter into temptation.`
Luke 22:47As he was yet speaking, behold a multitude; and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near to Jesus, for to kiss him.While he was still speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, went in front of them. He came near to Jesus to kiss him.And while he is speaking, lo, a multitude, and he who is called Judas, one of the twelve, was coming before them, and he came nigh to Jesus to kiss him,
Luke 22:48And Jesus said to him: Judas, dost thou betray the Son of man with a kiss?But Jesus said to him, "Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?"and Jesus said to him, `Judas, with a kiss the Son of Man dost thou deliver up?`
Luke 22:49And they that were about him, seeing what would follow, said to him: Lord, shall we strike with the sword?When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?"And those about him, having seen what was about to be, said to him, `Sir, shall we smite with a sword?`
Luke 22:50And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.And a certain one of them smote the servant of the chief priest, and took off his right ear,
Luke 22:51But Jesus answering, said: Suffer ye thus far. And when he had touched his ear, he healed him.But Jesus answered, "Let me at least do this" and he touched his ear, and healed him.and Jesus answering said, `Suffer ye thus far,` and having touched his ear, he healed him.
Luke 22:52And Jesus said to the chief priests, and magistrates of the temple, and the ancients, that were come unto him: Are ye come out, as it were against a thief, with swords and clubs?Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come against him, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?And Jesus said to those having come upon him chief priests, and magistrates of the temple, and elders `As upon a robber have ye come forth, with swords and sticks?
Luke 22:53When I was daily with you in the temple, you did not stretch forth your hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.When I was with you in the temple daily, you didn't stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness."while daily I was with you in the temple, ye did stretch forth no hands against me; but this is your hour and the power of the darkness.`
Luke 22:54And apprehending him, they led him to the high priest's house. But Peter followed afar off.They seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest's house. But Peter followed from a distance.And having taken him, they led and brought him to the house of the chief priest. And Peter was following afar off,
Luke 22:55And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were sitting about it, Peter was in the midst of them.When they had kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and had sat down together, Peter sat in the midst of them.and they having kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and having sat down together, Peter was sitting in the midst of them,
Luke 22:56Whom when a certain servant maid had seen sitting at the light, and had earnestly beheld him, she said: This man also was with him.A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, "This man also was with him."and a certain maid having seen him sitting at the light, and having earnestly looked at him, she said, `And this one was with him!`
Luke 22:57But he denied him, saying: Woman, I know him not.He denied Jesus, saying, "Woman, I don't know him."and he disowned him, saying, `Woman, I have not known him.`
Luke 22:58And after a little while, another seeing him, said: Thou also art one of them. But Peter said: O man, I am not.After a little while someone else saw him, and said, "You also are one of them!" But Peter answered, "Man, I am not!"And after a little, another having seen him, said, `And thou art of them!` and Peter said, `Man, I am not.`
Luke 22:59And after the space, as it were of one hour, another certain man affirmed, saying: Of a truth, this man was also with him; for he is also a Galilean.After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, "Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean!"And one hour, as it were, having intervened, a certain other was confidently affirming, saying, `Of a truth this one also was with him, for he is also a Galilean;`
Luke 22:60And Peter said: Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, as he was yet speaking, the cock crew.But Peter said, "Man, I don't know what you are talking about!" Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.and Peter said, `Man, I have not known what thou sayest;` and presently, while he is speaking, a cock crew.
Luke 22:61And the Lord turning looked on Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, as he had said: Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.The Lord turned, and looked at Peter. Peter remembered the Lord's word, how he said to him, "Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times."And the Lord having turned did look on Peter, and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he said to him `Before a cock shall crow, thou mayest disown me thrice;`
Luke 22:62And Peter going out, wept bitterly.He went out, and wept bitterly.and Peter having gone without, wept bitterly.
Luke 22:63And the men that held him, mocked him, and struck him.The men who held Jesus mocked him and beat him.And the men who were holding Jesus were mocking him, beating [him];
Luke 22:64And they blindfolded him, and smote his face. And they asked him, saying: Prophesy, who is it that struck thee?Having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him, "Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?"and having blindfolded him, they were striking him on the face, and were questioning him, saying, `Prophesy who he is who smote thee?`
Luke 22:65And blaspheming, many other things they said against him.They spoke many other things against him, insulting him.and many other things, speaking evilly, they spake in regard to him.
Luke 22:66And as soon as it was day, the ancients of the people, and the chief priests and scribes, cane together; and they brought him into their council, saying: If thou be the Christ, tell us.As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying,And when it became day there was gathered together the eldership of the people, chief priests also, and scribes, and they led him up to their own sanhedrim,
Luke 22:67And he saith to them: If I shall tell you, you will not believe me."If you are the Christ, tell us." But he said to them, "If I tell you, you won't believe,saying, `If thou be the Christ, tell us.` And he said to them, `If I may tell you, ye will not believe;
Luke 22:68And if I shall also ask you, you will not answer me, nor let me go.and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go.and if I also question [you], ye will not answer me or send me away;
Luke 22:69But hereafter the Son of man shall be sitting on the right hand of the power of God.From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God."henceforth, there shall be the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of the power of God.`
Luke 22:70Then said they all: Art thou then the Son of God? Who said: You say that I am.They all said, "Are you then the Son of God?" He said to them, "You say it, because I AM."And they all said, `Thou, then, art the Son of God?` and he said unto them, `Ye say [it], because I am;`
Luke 22:71And they said: What need we any further testimony? for we ourselves have heard it from his own mouth.They said, "Why do we need any more witness? For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!"and they said, `What need yet have we of testimony? for we ourselves did hear [it] from his mouth.`
