Acts 5:1But a certain man named Ananias, with Saphira his wife, sold a piece of land,And a certain man, Ananias by name, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, got money for his property,
Acts 5:2And by fraud kept back part of the price of the land, his wife being privy thereunto: and bringing a certain part of it, laid it at the feet of the apostles.and did keep back of the price his wife also knowing and having brought a certain part, at the feet of the apostles he laid [it].And kept back part of the price, his wife having knowledge of it, and took the rest and put it at the feet of the Apostles.
Acts 5:3But Peter said: Ananias, why hath Satan tempted thy heart, that thou shouldst lie to the Holy Ghost, and by fraud keep part of the price of the land? And Peter said, `Ananias, wherefore did the Adversary fill thy heart, for thee to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back of the price of the place? But Peter said, Ananias, why has the Evil One put it into your heart to be false to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
Acts 5:4Whilst it remained, did it not remain to thee? and after it was sold, was it not in thy power? Why hast thou conceived this thing in thy heart? Thou hast not lied to men, but to God.while it remained, did it not remain thine? and having been sold, in thy authority was it not? why [is] it that thou didst put in thy heart this thing? thou didst not lie to men, but to God;`While you had it, was it not your property? and after you had given it in exchange, was it not still in your power? how has this purpose come into your mind? you have been false, not to men, but to God.
Acts 5:5And Ananias hearing these words, fell down, and gave up the ghost. And there came great fear upon all that heard it.and Ananias hearing these words, having fallen down, did expire, and great fear came upon all who heard these things,And at these words, Ananias went down on the earth, and his life went from him: and great fear came on all who were present.
Acts 5:6And the young men rising up, removed him, and carrying him out, buried him.and having risen, the younger men wound him up, and having carried forth, they buried [him].And the young men went and made ready his body, and took it out, and put it in the earth.
Acts 5:7And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in.And it came to pass, about three hours after, that his wife, not knowing what hath happened, came in,And about three hours after, his wife, having no knowledge of what had taken place, came in.
Acts 5:8And Peter said to her: Tell me, woman, whether you sold the land for so much? And she said: Yea, for so much.and Peter answered her, `Tell me if for so much ye sold the place;` and she said, `Yes, for so much.`And Peter said to her, Give me an answer: was this amount of money the price of the land? And she said, Yes, it was.
Acts 5:9And Peter said unto her: Why have you agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold the feet of them who have buried thy husband are at the door, and they shall carry thee out.And Peter said unto her, `How was it agreed by you, to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? lo, the feet of those who did bury thy husband [are] at the door, and they shall carry thee forth;`But Peter said to her, Why have you made an agreement together to be false to the Spirit of the Lord? See, the feet of the young men who have put the body of your husband in the earth, are at the door, and they will take you out.
Acts 5:10Immediately she fell down before his feet, and gave up the ghost. And the young men coming in, found her dead: and carried her out, and buried her by her husband.and she fell down presently at his feet, and expired, and the young men having come in, found her dead, and having carried forth, they buried [her] by her husband; And straight away she went down at his feet, and her life went from her: and the young men came in and saw her dead, and they took her out and put her in the earth with her husband.
Acts 5:11And there came great fear upon the whole church, and upon all that heard these things.and great fear came upon all the assembly, and upon all who heard these things. Then great fear came on all the church and on all who had knowledge of these things.
Acts 5:12And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch. And through the hands of the apostles came many signs and wonders among the people, and they were with one accord all in the porch of Solomon; Now a number of signs and wonders were done among the people by the hands of the Apostles; and they were all together in Solomon's covered way.
Acts 5:13But of the rest no man durst join himself unto them; but the people magnified them.and of the rest no one was daring to join himself to them, but the people were magnifying them,The others, in fear, kept back from joining them: but the people made much of them;
Acts 5:14And the multitude of men and women who believed in the Lord, was more increased:(and the more were believers added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women,)And a great number of men and women had faith, and were joined to the Lord;
Acts 5:15Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that when Peter came, his shadow at the least, might overshadow any of them, and they might be delivered from their infirmities.so as into the broad places to bring forth the ailing, and to lay [them] upon couches and mats, that at the coming of Peter, even [his] shadow might overshadow some one of them; And they even took into the streets people who were ill, and put them on beds, so that when Peter went by, some of them might be in his shade.
Acts 5:16And there came also together to Jerusalem a multitude out of the neighboring cities, bringing sick persons, and such as were troubled with unclean spirits; who were all healed.and there were coming together also the people of the cities round about to Jerusalem, bearing ailing persons, and those harassed by unclean spirits who were all healed. And numbers of people came together from the towns round about Jerusalem, with those who were ill and those who were troubled with unclean spirits: and they were all made well.
Acts 5:17Then the high prist rising up, and all they that were with him, (which is the heresy of the Sadducees,) were filled with envy. And having risen, the chief priest, and all those with him being the sect of the Sadducees were filled with zeal,But the high priest and those who were with him (the Sadducees) were full of envy,
Acts 5:18And they laid hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.and laid their hands upon the apostles, and did put them in a public prison; And they took the Apostles and put them in the common prison.

Acts 5:20Go, and standing speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.`Go on, and standing, speak in the temple to the people all the sayings of this life;`Go, take your place in the Temple and give the people all the teaching about this Life.
Acts 5:21Who having heard this, early in the morning, entered into the temple, and taught. And the high priest coming, and they that were with him, called together the council, and all the ancients of the children of Israel; and they sent to the prison to have them brought.and having heard, they did enter at the dawn into the temple, and were teaching. And the chief priest having come, and those with him, they called together the sanhedrim and all the senate of the sons of Israel, and they sent to the prison to have them brought,And hearing this, they went into the Temple at dawn, and were teaching. But the high priest and those who were with him got together the Sanhedrin and the representatives of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to get them.
Acts 5:22But when the ministers came, and opening the prison, found them not there, they returned and told, and the officers having come, did not find them in the prison, and having turned back, they told,But the men who were sent saw that they were not in the prison, and came back with the news,
Acts 5:23Saying: The prison indeed we found shut with all diligence, and the keepers standing before the doors; but opening it, we found no man within.saying `The prison indeed we found shut in all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors, and having opened within we found no one.`Saying, The doors of the prison were safely shut, and the keepers were at the doors, but when they were open, there was nobody inside.
Acts 5:24Now when the officer of the temple and the chief priests heard these words, they were in doubt concerning them, what would come to pass. And as the priest, and the magistrate of the temple, and the chief priests, heard these words, they were doubting concerning them to what this would come; Now, at these words, the captain of the Temple and the chief priests were greatly troubled about what might be the end of this business.
Acts 5:25But one came and told them: Behold, the men whom you put in prison are in the temple standing, and teaching the people.and coming near, a certain one told them, saying `Lo, the men whom ye did put in the prison are in the temple standing and teaching the people;`And someone came and said to them, The men, whom you put in prison, are in the Temple teaching the people.
Acts 5:26Then went the officer with the ministers, and brought them without violence; for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.then the magistrate having gone away with officers, brought them without violence, for they were fearing the people, lest they should be stoned; Then the captain and some of the police went and took them, but not violently, for fear that they might be stoned by the people.
Acts 5:27And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, and having brought them, they set [them] in the sanhedrim, and the chief priest questioned them,And they took them into the Sanhedrin, and the high priest said to them,
Acts 5:28Saying: Commanding we commanded you, that you should not teach in this name; and behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and you have a mind to bring the blood of this man upon us.saying, `Did not we strictly command you not to teach in this name? and lo, ye have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and ye intend to bring upon us the blood of this man.`We gave you very clear orders not to give teaching in this name: and now Jerusalem is full of your teaching, and you are attempting to make us responsible for this man's death.
Acts 5:29But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men.And Peter and the apostles answering, said, `To obey God it behoveth, rather than men;But Peter and the Apostles, answering, said, We have to do the orders of God, not of man.
Acts 5:30The God of our fathers hath raised up Jesus, whom you put to death, hanging him upon a tree.and the God of our fathers did raise up Jesus, whom ye slew, having hanged upon a tree; The God of our fathers gave Jesus back to life, whom you had put to death, hanging him on a tree.
Acts 5:31Him hath God exalted with his right hand, to be Prince and Saviour, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.this one God, a Prince and a Saviour, hath exalted with His right hand, to give reformation to Israel, and forgiveness of sins;Him God has put on high at his right hand, as a Ruler and a Saviour, to give to Israel a change of heart and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 5:32And we are witnesses of these things and the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to all that obey him.and we are His witnesses of these sayings, and the Holy Spirit also, whom God gave to those obeying him.`And we are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who keep his laws.
Acts 5:33When they had heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they thought to put them to death. And they having heard, were cut [to the heart], and were taking counsel to slay them,But when these words came to their ears, they were cut to the heart, and had a mind to put them to death.
Acts 5:34But one in the council rising up, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, respected by all the people, commanded the men to be put forth a little while.but a certain one, having risen up in the sanhedrim a Pharisee, by name Gamaliel, a teacher of law honoured by all the people commanded to put the apostles forth a little,But one of the Sanhedrin, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a man of learning in the law, of whom all the people had a high opinion, got up and made a suggestion for the men to be put outside for a little time.
Acts 5:35And he said to them: Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do, as touching these men.and said unto them, `Men, Israelites, take heed to yourselves about these men, what ye are about to do,And he said to them, Men of Israel, take care what you do about these men.
Acts 5:36For before these days rose up Theodas, affirming himself to be somebody, to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all that believed him were scattered, and brought to nothing.for before these days rose up Theudas, saying, that himself was some one, to whom a number of men did join themselves, as it were four hundred, who was slain, and all, as many as were obeying him, were scattered, and came to nought. For before this there was Theudas, who said he was someone important, to whom about four hundred men gave their support: he was put to death, and his band was broken up and came to nothing.
Acts 5:37After this man, rose up Judas of Galilee, in the days of the enrolling, and drew away the people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as consented to him, were dispersed.`After this one rose up, Judas the Galilean, in the days of the enrollment, and drew away much people after him, and that one perished, and all, as many as were obeying him, were scattered; After this man, there was Judas of Galilee, at the time of the numbering, and some of the people went after him: he was put to death, and all his supporters were put to flight.
Acts 5:38And now, therefore, I say to you, refrain from these men, and let them alone; for if this council or this work be of men, it will come to nought;and now I say to you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone, because if this counsel or this work may be of men, it will be overthrown,And now I say to you, Do nothing to these men, but let them be: for if this teaching or this work is of men, it will come to nothing:
Acts 5:39But if it be of God, you cannot overthrow it, lest perhaps you be found even to fight against God. And they consented to him.and if it be of God, ye are not able to overthrow it, lest perhaps also ye be found fighting against God.`But if it is of God, you will not be able to overcome them, and you are in danger of fighting against God.
Acts 5:40And calling in the apostles, after they had scourged them, they charged them that they should not speak at all in the name of Jesus; and they dismissed them. And to him they agreed, and having called near the apostles, having beaten [them], they commanded [them] not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go;And he seemed to them to be right: and they sent for the Apostles, and, after having them whipped and giving them orders to give no teaching in the name of Jesus, they let them go.
Acts 5:41And they indeed went from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were accounted worthy to suffer reproach for the name of Jesus.they, indeed, then, departed from the presence of the sanhedrim, rejoicing that for his name they were counted worthy to suffer dishonour,So they went away from the Sanhedrin, happy to undergo shame for the Name.
Acts 5:42And every day they ceased not in the temple, and from house to house, to teach and preach Christ Jesus.every day also in the temple, and in every house, they were not ceasing teaching and proclaiming good news Jesus the Christ. And every day, in the Temple and privately, they went on teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.
