Ezekiel 8:1 | And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, and the ancients of Juda sat before me, that the hand of the Lord God fell there upon me. | And it cometh to pass, in the sixth year, in the sixth [month], in the fifth of the month, I am sitting in my house, and elders of Judah are sitting before me, and fall on me there doth a hand of the Lord Jehovah, | Now in the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, when I was in my house and the responsible men of Judah were seated before me, the hand of the Lord came on me there. |
Ezekiel 8:2 | And I saw, and behold a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins, and downward, fire: and from his loins, and upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the appearance of amber. | and I look, and lo, a likeness as the appearance of fire, from the appearance of His loins and downward fire, and from His loins and upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of copper. | And looking, I saw a form like fire; from the middle of his body and down there was fire: and up from the middle of his body a sort of shining, like electrum. |
Ezekiel 8:3 | And the likeness of a hand was put forth and took me by a lock of my head: and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the vision of God into Jerusalem, near the inner gate, that looked toward the north, where was set the idol of jealousy to provoke to jealousy. | And He putteth forth a form of a hand, and taketh me by a lock of my head, and lift me up doth a spirit between the earth and the heavens, and it bringeth me in to Jerusalem in visions of God, unto the opening of the inner gate that is facing the north, where [is] the seat of the figure of jealousy that is making jealous, | And he put out the form of a hand and took me by the hair of my head; and the wind, lifting me up between the earth and the heaven, took me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the way into the inner door facing to the north; where was the seat of the image of envy. |
Ezekiel 8:4 | And behold the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision which I had seen in the plain. | and lo, there the honour of the God of Israel, as the appearance that I saw in the valley. | And I saw the glory of the Lord there, as in the vision which I saw in the valley. |
Ezekiel 8:5 | And he said to me: Son of man, lift up thy eyes towards the way of the north. And I lifted up my eyes towards the way of the north: and behold on the north side of the gate of the altar the idol of jealousy in the very entry. | And He saith unto me, `Son of man, lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes the way of the north.` And I lift up mine eyes the way of the north, and lo, on the north of the gate of the altar this figure of jealousy, at the entrance. | Then he said to me, Son of man, now let your eyes be lifted up in the direction of the north; and on looking in the direction of the north, to the north of the doorway of the altar, I saw this image of envy by the way in. |
Ezekiel 8:6 | And he said to me: Son of man, dost thou see, thinkest thou, what these are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should depart far off from my sanctuary? and turn thee yet again and thou shalt see greater abominations. | And He saith unto me, `Son of man, art thou seeing what they are doing? the great abominations that the house of Israel are doing here, to keep far off from My sanctuary; and again thou dost turn, thou dost see great abominations.` | And he said to me, Son of man, do you see what they are doing? even the very disgusting things which the children of Israel are doing here, causing me to go far away from my holy place? but you will see other most disgusting things. |
Ezekiel 8:7 | And he brought me in to the door of the court: and I saw, and behold a hole in the wall. | And He bringeth me in unto an opening of the court, and I look, and lo, a hole in the wall; | And he took me to the door of the open place; and looking, I saw a hole in the wall. |
Ezekiel 8:8 | And he said to me: Son of man, dig in the wall. And when I had digged in the wall, behold a door. | and He saith unto me, `Son of man, dig, I pray thee, through the wall;` and I dig through the wall, and lo, an opening. | And he said to me, Son of man, make a hole in the wall: and after making a hole in the wall I saw a door. |
Ezekiel 8:9 | And he said to me: Go in, and see the wicked abominations which they commit here. | And He saith to me, `Go in, and see the evil abominations that they are doing here.` | And he said to me, Go in and see the evil and disgusting things which they are doing here. |
Ezekiel 8:10 | And I went in and saw, and behold every form of creeping things, and of living creatures, the abomination, and all the idols of the house of Israel, were painted on the wall all round about. | And I go in, and look, and lo, every form of creeping thing, and detestable beast and all the Idols of the house of Israel graved on the wall, all round about, | So I went in and saw; and there every sort of living thing which goes flat on the earth, and unclean beasts, and all the images of the children of Israel, were pictured round about on the wall. |
Ezekiel 8:11 | And seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and Jezonias the son of Saaphan stood in the midst of them, that stood before the pictures: and every one had a censer in his hand: and a cloud of smoke went up from the incense. | and seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel and Jaazaniah son of Shaphan standing in their midst are standing before them, and each his censer in his hand, and the abundance of the cloud of perfume is going up. | And before them seventy of the responsible men of the children of Israel had taken their places, every man with a vessel for burning perfumes in his hand, and in the middle of them was Jaazaniah, the son of Shaphan; and a cloud of smoke went up from the burning perfume. |
Ezekiel 8:12 | And he add to me: Surely thou seest. O son of man, what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every one in private in his chamber: for they say: The Lord seeth us not, the Lord hath forsaken the earth. | And He saith unto me, `Hast thou seen, son of man, that which elders of the house of Israel are doing in darkness, each in the inner chambers of his imagery, for they are saying, Jehovah is not seeing us, Jehovah hath forsaken the land?` | And he said to me, Son of man, have you seen what the responsible men of the children of Israel do in the dark, every man in his room of pictured images? for they say, The Lord does not see us; the Lord has gone away from the land. |
Ezekiel 8:13 | And he said to me: If thou turn thee again, thou shalt see greater abominations which these commit. | And He saith unto me, `Again thou dost turn, thou dost see great abominations that they are doing.` | Then he said to me, You will see even more disgusting things which they do. |
Ezekiel 8:14 | And he brought me in by the door of the gate of the Lord's house, which looked to the north: and behold women sat there mourning for Adonis. | And He bringeth me in unto the opening of the gate of the house of Jehovah that [is] at the north, and lo, there the women are sitting weeping for Tammuz. | Then he took me to the door of the way into the Lord's house looking to the north; and there women were seated weeping for Tammuz. |
Ezekiel 8:15 | And he said to me: Surely thou hast seen, O son of man: but turn thee again: and thou shalt see greater abominations than these. | And He saith unto me, `Hast thou seen, son of man? again thou dost turn, thou dost see greater abominations than these.` | Then he said to me, Have you seen this, O son of man? you will see even more disgusting things than these. |
Ezekiel 8:16 | And he brought me into the inner court of the house of the Lord: and behold at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men having their backs towards the temple of the Lord, and their faces to the east: and they adored towards the rising of the sun. | And He bringeth me in unto the inner court of the house of Jehovah, and lo, at the opening of the temple of Jehovah, between the porch and the altar, about twenty-five men, their backs toward the temple of Jehovah, and their faces eastward, and they are bowing themselves eastward to the sun. | And he took me into the inner square of the Lord's house, and at the door of the Temple of the Lord, between the covered way and the altar, there were about twenty-five men with their backs turned to the Temple of the Lord and their faces turned to the east; and they were worshipping the sun, turning to the east. |
Ezekiel 8:17 | And he said to me: Surely thou hast seen, O son of man: is this a light thing to the house of Juda, that they should commit these abominations which they have committed here: because they have filled the land with iniquity, and have turned to provoke me to anger? and behold they put a branch to their nose. | And He saith unto me, `Hast thou seen, son of man? hath it been a light thing to the house of Judah to do the abomination that they have done here, that they have filled the land with violence, and turn back to provoke Me to anger? and lo, they are putting forth the branch unto their nose! | Then he said to me, Have you seen this, O son of man? is it a small thing to the children of Judah that they do the disgusting things which they are doing here? for they have made the land full of violent behaviour, making me angry again and again: and see, they put the branch to my nose. |
Ezekiel 8:18 | Therefore I also will deal with them in my wrath: my eye shall not spare them, neither will I shew mercy: and when they shall cry to my ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them. | And I also deal in fury, Mine eye doth not pity, nor do I spare, and they have cried in Mine ears a loud voice and I do not hear them.` | For this reason I will let loose my wrath: my eye will not have mercy, and I will have no pity. |
