Hebrews 4:1Let us fear therefore lest the promise being left of entering into his rest, any of you should be thought to be wanting.We may fear, then, lest a promise being left of entering into His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short,Let us then, though we still have God's word that we may come into his rest, go in fear that some of you may be unable to do so.
Hebrews 4:2For unto us also it hath been declared, in like manner as unto them. But the word of hearing did not profit them, not being mixed with faith of those things they heard.for we also are having good news proclaimed, even as they, but the word heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard,And, truly, the good news came to us, even as it did to them; but the hearing of the word did them no good, because they were not united in faith with the true hearers.
Hebrews 4:3For we, who have believed, shall enter into rest; as he said: As I have sworn in my wrath; If they shall enter into my rest; and this indeed when the works from the foundation of the world were finished.for we do enter into the rest we who did believe, as He said, `So I sware in My anger, If they shall enter into My rest ;` and yet the works were done from the foundation of the world,For those of us who have belief come into his rest; even as he has said, As I said in my oath when I was angry, They may not come into my rest: though the works were done from the time of the making of the world.
Hebrews 4:4For in a certain place he spoke of the seventh day thus: And God rested the seventh day from all his works.for He spake in a certain place concerning the seventh [day] thus: `And God did rest in the seventh day from all His works;`For in one place he has said of the seventh day, And God had rest from all his works on the seventh day;
Hebrews 4:5And in this place again: If they shall enter into my rest.and in this [place] again, `If they shall enter into My rest ;`And in the same place he says again, They will not come into my rest.
Hebrews 4:6Seeing then it remaineth that some are to enter into it, and they, to whom it was first preached, did not enter because of unbelief:since then, it remaineth for certain to enter into it, and those who did first hear good news entered not in because of unbeliefSo that as it is clear that some have to go in, and that the first hearers of the good news were not able to go in because they went against God's orders,
Hebrews 4:7Again he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time, as it is above said: To day if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts.again He doth limit a certain day, `To-day,` (in David saying, after so long a time,) as it hath been said, `To-day, if His voice ye may hear, ye may not harden your hearts,`After a long time, again naming a certain day, he says in David, Today (as he had said before), Today if you will let his voice come to your ears, be not hard of heart,
Hebrews 4:8For if Jesus had given them rest, he would never have afterwards spoken of another day.for if Joshua had given them rest, He would not concerning another day have spoken after these things;For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have said anything about another day.
Hebrews 4:9There remaineth therefore a day of rest for the people of God.there doth remain, then, a sabbatic rest to the people of God,So that there is still a Sabbath-keeping for the people of God.
Hebrews 4:10For he that is entered into his rest, the same also hath rested from his works, as God did from his.for he who did enter into his rest, he also rested from his works, as God from His own.For the man who comes into his rest has had rest from his works, as God did from his.
Hebrews 4:11Let us hasten therefore to enter into that rest; lest any man fall into the same example of unbelief.May we be diligent, then, to enter into that rest, that no one in the same example of the unbelief may fall,Because of this, let us have a strong desire to come into that rest, and let no one go after the example of those who went against God's orders.
Hebrews 4:12For the word of God is living and effectual, and more piercing than any two edged sword; and reaching unto the division of the soul and the spirit, of the joints also and the marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.for the reckoning of God is living, and working, and sharp above every two-edged sword, and piercing unto the dividing asunder both of soul and spirit, of joints also and marrow, and a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart;For the word of God is living and full of power, and is sharper than any two-edged sword, cutting through and making a division even of the soul and the spirit, the bones and the muscles, and quick to see the thoughts and purposes of the heart.
Hebrews 4:13Neither is there any creature invisible in his sight: but all things are naked and open to his eyes, to whom our speech is.and there is not a created thing not manifest before Him, but all things [are] naked and open to His eyes with whom is our reckoning.And there is nothing made which is not completely clear to him; there is nothing covered, but all things are open to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Hebrews 4:14Having therefore a great high priest that hath passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God: let us hold fast our confession.Having, then, a great chief priest passed through the heavens Jesus the Son of God may we hold fast the profession,Having then a great high priest, who has made his way through the heavens, even Jesus the Son of God, let us be strong in our faith.
Hebrews 4:15For we have not a high priest, who can not have compassion on our infirmities: but one tempted in all things like as we are, without sin.for we have not a chief priest unable to sympathise with our infirmities, but [one] tempted in all things in like manner apart from sin;For we have not a high priest who is not able to be touched by the feelings of our feeble flesh; but we have one who has been tested in all points as we ourselves are tested, but without sin.
Hebrews 4:16Let us go therefore with confidence to the throne of grace: that we may obtain mercy, and find grace in seasonable aid.we may come near, then, with freedom, to the throne of the grace, that we may receive kindness, and find grace for seasonable help.Then let us come near to the seat of grace without fear, so that mercy may be given to us, and we may get grace for our help in time of need.
