Mark 11:1 | And when they were drawing near to Jerusalem and to Bethania at the mount of Olives, he sendeth two of his disciples, | And when they come nigh to Jerusalem, to Bethphage, and Bethany, unto the mount of the Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples, | And when they came near to Jerusalem, to Beth-phage and Bethany, at the Mountain of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, |
Mark 11:2 | And saith to them: Go into the village that is over against you, and immediately at your coming in thither, you shall find a colt tied, upon which no man yet hath sat: loose him, and bring him. | and saith to them, `Go away to the village that is over-against you, and immediately, entering into it, ye shall find a colt tied, on which no one of men hath sat, having loosed it, bring [it]: | And said to them, Go into the little town opposite: and when you come to it, you will see a young ass with a cord round his neck, on which no man has ever been seated; let him loose, and come back with him. |
Mark 11:3 | And if any man shall say to you, What are you doing? say ye that the Lord hath need of him: and immediately he will let him come hither. | and if any one may say to you, Why do ye this? say ye that the lord hath need of it, and immediately he will send it hither.` | And if anyone says to you, Why are you doing this? say, The Lord has need of him and will send him back straight away. |
Mark 11:4 | And going their way, they found the colt tied before the gate without, in the meeting of two ways: and they loose him. | And they went away, and found the colt tied at the door without, by the two ways, and they loose it, | And they went away and saw a young ass by the door outside in the open street; and they were getting him loose. |
Mark 11:5 | And some of them that stood there, said to them: What do you loosing the colt? | and certain of those standing there said to them, `What do ye loosing the colt?` | And some of those who were there said to them, What are you doing, taking the ass? |
Mark 11:6 | Who said to them as Jesus had commanded them; and they let him go with them. | and they said to them as Jesus commanded, and they suffered them. | And they said to them the words which Jesus had said; and they let them go. |
Mark 11:7 | And they brought the colt to Jesus; and they lay their garments on him, and he sat upon him. | And they brought the colt unto Jesus, and did cast upon it their garments, and he sat upon it, | And they took the young ass to Jesus, and put their clothing on him, and he got on his back. |
Mark 11:8 | And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down boughs from the trees, and strewed them in the way. | and many did spread their garments in the way, and others were cutting down branches from the trees, and were strewing in the way. | And a great number put down their clothing in the way; and others put down branches which they had taken from the fields. |
Mark 11:9 | And they that went before and they that followed, cried, saying: Hosanna, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. | And those going before and those following were crying out, saying, `Hosanna! blessed [is] he who is coming in the name of the Lord; | And those who went in front, and those who came after, were crying, Glory: A blessing on him who comes in the name of the Lord: |
Mark 11:10 | Blessed be the kingdom of our father David that cometh: Hosanna in the highest. | blessed is the coming reign, in the name of the Lord, of our father David; Hosanna in the highest.` | A blessing on the coming kingdom of our father David: Glory in the highest. |
Mark 11:11 | And he entered into Jerusalem, into the temple: and having viewed all things round about, when now the eventide was come, he went out to Bethania with the twelve. | And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple, and having looked round on all things, it being now evening, he went forth to Bethany with the twelve. | And he went into Jerusalem into the Temple; and after looking round about on all things, it being now evening, he went out to Bethany with the twelve. |
Mark 11:12 | And the next day when they came out from Bethania, he was hungry. | And on the morrow, they having come forth from Bethany, he hungered, | And on the day after, when they had come out from Bethany, he was in need of food. |
Mark 11:13 | And when he had seen afar off a fig tree having leaves, he came if perhaps he might find any thing on it. And when he was come to it, he found nothing but leaves. For it was not the time for figs. | and having seen a fig-tree afar off having leaves, he came, if perhaps he shall find anything in it, and having come to it, he found nothing except leaves, for it was not a time of figs, | And seeing a fig-tree in the distance with leaves, he went to see if by chance it had anything on it: and when he came to it, he saw nothing but leaves, for it was not the time for the fruit. |
Mark 11:14 | And answering he said to it: May no man hereafter eat fruit of thee any more for ever. And his disciples heard it. | and Jesus answering said to it, `No more from thee to the age may any eat fruit;` and his disciples were hearing. | And he said to it, Let no man take fruit from you for ever. And his disciples took note of his words. |
Mark 11:15 | And they came to Jerusalem. And when he was entered into the temple, he began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the chairs of them that sold doves. | And they come to Jerusalem, and Jesus having gone into the temple, began to cast forth those selling and buying in the temple, and the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those selling the doves, he overthrew, | And they came to Jerusalem; and he went into the Temple, and sent out those who were trading there, overturning the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who were offering doves for money; |
Mark 11:16 | And he suffered not that any man should carry a vessel through the temple; | and he did not suffer that any might bear a vessel through the temple, | And he would not let any man take a vessel through the Temple. |
Mark 11:17 | And he taught, saying to them: Is it not written, My house shall be called the house of prayer to all nations? But you have made it a den of thieves. | and he was teaching, saying to them, `Hath it not been written My house a house of prayer shall be called for all the nations, and ye did make it a den of robbers?` | And he gave them teaching, and said to them, Is it not in the Writings, My house is to be named a house of prayer for all the nations? but you have made it a hole of thieves. |
Mark 11:18 | Which when the chief priests and the scribes had heard, they sought how they might destroy him. For they feared him, because the whole multitude was in admiration at his doctrine. | And the scribes and the chief priests heard, and they were seeking how they shall destroy him, for they were afraid of him, because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching; | And it came to the ears of the chief priests and scribes, and they took thought how they might put him to death; being in fear of him, because all the people were full of wonder at his teaching. |
Mark 11:19 | And when evening was come, he went forth out of the city. | and when evening came, he was going forth without the city. | And every evening he went out of the town. |
Mark 11:20 | And when they passed by in the morning they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. | And in the morning, passing by, they saw the fig-tree having been dried up from the roots, | And when they were going by in the morning, they saw the fig-tree dead from the roots. |
Mark 11:21 | And Peter remembering, said to him: Rabbi, behold the fig tree, which thou didst curse, is withered away. | and Peter having remembered saith to him, `Rabbi, lo, the fig-tree that thou didst curse is dried up.` | And Peter, having a memory of it, said to him, Master, see, the tree which was cursed by you is dead. |
Mark 11:22 | And Jesus answering, saith to them: Have the faith of God. | And Jesus answering saith to them, `Have faith of God; | And Jesus, answering, said to them, Have God's faith. |
Mark 11:23 | Amen I say to you, that whosoever shall say to this mountain, Be thou removed and be cast into the sea, and shall not stagger in his heart, but believe, that whatsoever he saith shall be done; it shall be done unto him. | for verily I say to you, that whoever may say to this mount, Be taken up, and be cast into the sea, and may not doubt in his heart, but may believe that the things that he saith do come to pass, it shall be to him whatever he may say. | Truly I say to you, Whoever says to this mountain, Be taken up and be put into the sea; and has no doubt in his heart, but has faith that what he says will come about, he will have his desire. |
Mark 11:24 | Therefore I say unto you, all things, whatsoever you ask when ye pray, believe that you shall receive; and they shall come unto you. | Because of this I say to you, all whatever praying ye do ask, believe that ye receive, and it shall be to you. | For this reason I say to you, Whatever you make a request for in prayer, have faith that it has been given to you, and you will have it. |
Mark 11:25 | And when you shall stand to pray, forgive, if you have aught against any man; that your Father also, who is in heaven, may forgive you your sins. | `And whenever ye may stand praying, forgive, if ye have anything against any one, that your Father also who is in the heavens may forgive you your trespasses; | And whenever you make a prayer, let there be forgiveness in your hearts, if you have anything against anyone; so that you may have forgiveness for your sins from your Father who is in heaven. |
Mark 11:26 | But if you will not forgive, neither will your Father that is in heaven, forgive you your sins. | and, if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in the heavens forgive your trespasses.` | [] |
Mark 11:27 | And they come again to Jerusalem. And when he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests and the scribes and the ancients, | And they come again to Jerusalem, and in the temple, as he is walking, there come unto him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders, | And they came again to Jerusalem: and while he was walking in the Temple, there came to him the chief priests and the scribes and those in authority: |
Mark 11:28 | And they say to him: By what authority dost thou these things? and who hath given thee this authority that thou shouldst do these things? | and they say to him, `By what authority dost thou these things? and who gave thee this authority that these things thou mayest do?` | And they said to him, By what authority do you do these things? or who gave you authority to do these things? |
Mark 11:29 | And Jesus answering, said to them: I will also ask you one word, and answer you me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. | And Jesus answering said to them, `I will question you I also one word; and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things; | And Jesus said to them, I will put to you one question; give me an answer, and I will say by what authority I do these things. |
Mark 11:30 | The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men? Answer me. | the baptism of John from heaven was it? or from men? answer me.` | The baptism of John, was it from heaven or from men? give me an answer. |
Mark 11:31 | But they thought with themselves, saying: If we say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did you not believe him? | And they were reasoning with themselves, saying, `If we may say, From heaven, he will say, Wherefore, then, did ye not believe him? | And they gave thought to it among themselves, saying, If we say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did you not have faith in him? |
Mark 11:32 | If we say, From men, we fear the people. For all men counted John that he was a prophet indeed. | But if we may say, From men,` they were fearing the people, for all were holding John that he was indeed a prophet; | But if we say, From men they were in fear of the people, because all took John to be truly a prophet. |
Mark 11:33 | And they answering, say to Jesus: We know not. And Jesus answering, saith to them: Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things. | and answering they say to Jesus, `We have not known;` and Jesus answering saith to them, `Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.` | And they said in answer to Jesus, We have no idea. And Jesus said to them, And I will not say to you by what authority I do these things. |
