Romans 10:1 | Brethren, the will of my heart, indeed, and my prayer to God, is for them unto salvation. | Brethren, the pleasure indeed of my heart, and my supplication that [is] to God for Israel, is for salvation; | Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is, that they may get salvation. |
Romans 10:2 | For I bear them witness, that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. | for I bear them testimony that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge, | For I give witness of them that they have a strong desire for God, but not with knowledge. |
Romans 10:3 | For they, not knowing the justice of God, and seeking to establish their own, have not submitted themselves to the justice of God. | for not knowing the righteousness of God, and their own righteousness seeking to establish, to the righteousness of God they did not submit. | Because, not having knowledge of God's righteousness, and desiring to give effect to their righteousness, they have not put themselves under the righteousness of God. |
Romans 10:4 | For the end of the law is Christ, unto justice to every one that believeth. | For Christ is an end of law for righteousness to every one who is believing, | For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who has faith. |
Romans 10:5 | For Moses wrote, that the justice which is of the law, the man that shall do it, shall live by it. | for Moses doth describe the righteousness that [is] of the law, that, `The man who did them shall live in them,` | For Moses says that the man who does the righteousness which is of the law will get life by it. |
Romans 10:6 | But the justice which is of faith, speaketh thus: Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? that is, to bring Christ down; | and the righteousness of faith doth thus speak: `Thou mayest not say in thine heart, Who shall go up to the heaven,` that is, Christ to bring down? | But the righteousness which is of faith says these words, Say not in your heart, Who will go up to heaven? (that is, to make Christ come down:) |
Romans 10:7 | Or who shall descend into the deep? that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead. | or, `Who shall go down to the abyss,` that is, Christ out of the dead to bring up. | Or, Who will go down into the deep? (that is, to make Christ come again from the dead:) |
Romans 10:8 | But what saith the scripture? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart. This is the word of faith, which we preach. | But what doth it say? `Nigh thee is the saying in thy mouth, and in thy heart:` that is, the saying of the faith, that we preach; | But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart: that is, the word of faith of which we are the preachers: |
Romans 10:9 | For if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him up from the dead, thou shalt be saved. | that if thou mayest confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and mayest believe in thy heart that God did raise him out of the dead, thou shalt be saved, | Because, if you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and have faith in your heart that God has made him come back from the dead, you will have salvation: |
Romans 10:10 | For, with the heart, we believe unto justice; but, with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. | for with the heart doth [one] believe to righteousness, and with the mouth is confession made to salvation; | For with the heart man has faith to get righteousness, and with the mouth he says that Jesus is Lord to get salvation. |
Romans 10:11 | For the scripture saith: Whosoever believeth in him, shall not be confounded. | for the Writing saith, `Every one who is believing on him shall not be ashamed,` | Because it is said in the holy Writings, Whoever has faith in him will not be shamed. |
Romans 10:12 | For there is no distinction of the Jew and the Greek: for the same is Lord over all, rich unto all that call upon him. | for there is no difference between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord of all [is] rich to all those calling upon Him, | And the Jew is not different from the Greek: for there is the same Lord of all, who is good to all who have hope in his name: |
Romans 10:13 | For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved. | for every one whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, he shall be saved.` | Because, Whoever will give worship to the name of the Lord will get salvation. |
Romans 10:14 | How then shall they call on him, in whom they have not believed? Or how shall they believe him, of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear, without a preacher? | How then shall they call upon [him] in whom they did not believe? and how shall they believe [on him] of whom they did not hear? and how shall they hear apart from one preaching? | But how will they give worship to him in whom they have no faith? and how will they have faith in him of whom they have not had news? and how will they have news without a preacher? |
Romans 10:15 | And how shall they preach unless they be sent, as it is written: How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, of them that bring glad tidings of good things! | and how shall they preach, if they may not be sent? according as it hath been written, `How beautiful the feet of those proclaiming good tidings of peace, of those proclaiming good tidings of the good things!` | And how will there be preachers if they are not sent? As it is said, How beautiful are the feet of those who give the glad news of good things. |
Romans 10:16 | But all do not obey the gospel. For Isaias saith: Lord, who hath believed our report? | But they were not all obedient to the good tidings, for Isaiah saith, `Lord, who did give credence to our report?` | But they have not all given ear to the good news. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has had faith in our word? |
Romans 10:17 | Faith then cometh by hearing; and hearing by the word of Christ. | so then the faith [is] by a report, and the report through a saying of God, | So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. |
Romans 10:18 | But I say: Have they not heard? Yes, verily, their sound hath gone forth into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the whole world. | but I say, Did they not hear? yes, indeed `to all the earth their voice went forth, and to the ends of the habitable world their sayings.` | But I say, Did not the word come to their ears? Yes, certainly: Their sound has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. |
Romans 10:19 | But I say: Hath not Israel known? First, Moses saith: I will provoke you to jealousy by that which is not a nation; by a foolish nation I will anger you. | But I say, Did not Israel know? first Moses saith, `I will provoke you to jealousy by [that which is] not a nation; by an unintelligent nation I will anger you,` | But I say, Had Israel no knowledge? First Moses says, You will be moved to envy by that which is not a nation, and by a foolish people I will make you angry. |
Romans 10:20 | But Isaias is bold, and saith: I was found by them that did not seek me: I appeared openly to them that asked not after me. | and Isaiah is very bold, and saith, `I was found by those not seeking Me; I became manifest to those not inquiring after Me;` | And Isaiah says without fear, Those who were not searching for me made discovery of me; and I was seen by those whose hearts were turned away from me. |
Romans 10:21 | But to Israel he saith: All the day long have I spread my hands to a people that believeth not, and contradicteth me. | and unto Israel He saith, `All the day I did stretch out My hands unto a people unbelieving and gainsaying.` | But about Israel he says; All the day my hands have been stretched out to a people whose hearts were turned away, and who put themselves against my word. |
