1st-Peter 5:1 | The ancients therefore that are among you, I beseech, who am myself also an ancient, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ: as also a partaker of that glory which is to be revealed in time to come: | Elders who [are] among you, I exhort, who [am] a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and of the glory about to be revealed a partaker, | The elders which [are] among you I exhort, who [am their] fellow-elder and witness of the sufferings of the Christ, who also [am] partaker of the glory about to be revealed: |
1st-Peter 5:2 | Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking care of it, not by constraint, but willingly, according to God: not for filthy lucre's sake, but voluntarily: | feed the flock of God that [is] among you, overseeing not constrainedly, but willingly, neither for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind, | shepherd the flock of God which [is] among you, exercising oversight, not by necessity, but willingly; not for base gain, but readily; |
1st-Peter 5:3 | Neither as lording it over the clergy, but being made a pattern of the flock from the heart. | neither as exercising lordship over the heritages, but patterns becoming of the flock, | not as lording it over your possessions, but being models for the flock. |
1st-Peter 5:4 | And when the prince of pastors shall appear, you shall receive a never fading crown of glory. | and at the manifestation of the chief Shepherd, ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory. | And when the chief shepherd is manifested ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory. |
1st-Peter 5:5 | In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients. And do you all insinuate humility one to another, for God resisteth the proud, but to the humble he giveth grace. | In like manner, ye younger, be subject to elders, and all to one another subjecting yourselves; with humble-mindedness clothe yourselves, because God the proud doth resist, but to the humble He doth give grace; | Likewise [ye] younger, be subject to [the] elder, and all of you bind on humility towards one another; for God sets himself against [the] proud, but to [the] humble gives grace. |
1st-Peter 5:6 | Be you humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the time of visitation: | be humbled, then, under the powerful hand of God, that you He may exalt in good time, | Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in [the due] time; |
1st-Peter 5:7 | Casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you. | all your care having cast upon Him, because He careth for you. | having cast all your care upon him, for he cares about you. |
1st-Peter 5:8 | Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour. | Be sober, vigilant, because your opponent the devil, as a roaring lion, doth walk about, seeking whom he may swallow up, | Be vigilant, watch. Your adversary [the] devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour. |
1st-Peter 5:9 | Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world. | whom resist, stedfast in the faith, having known the same sufferings to your brotherhood in the world to be accomplished. | Whom resist, stedfast in faith, knowing that the selfsame sufferings are accomplished in your brotherhood which [is] in [the] world. |
1st-Peter 5:10 | But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you. | And the God of all grace, who did call you to His age-during glory in Christ Jesus, having suffered a little, Himself make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle [you]; | But the God of all grace who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, when ye have suffered for a little while, himself shall make perfect, stablish, strengthen, ground: |
1st-Peter 5:11 | To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen. | to Him [is] the glory, and the power to the ages and the ages! Amen. | to him [be] the glory and the might for the ages of the ages. Amen. |
1st-Peter 5:12 | By Sylvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I think, I have written briefly: beseeching and testifying that this is the true grace of God, wherein you stand. | Through Silvanus, to you the faithful brother, as I reckon, through few [words] I did write, exhorting and testifying this to be the true grace of God in which ye have stood. | By Silvanus, the faithful brother, as I suppose, I have written to you briefly; exhorting and testifying that this is [the] true grace of God in which ye stand. |
1st-Peter 5:13 | The church that is in Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you: and so doth my son Mark. | Salute you doth the [assembly] in Babylon jointly elected, and Markus my son. | She that is elected with [you] in Babylon salutes you, and Marcus my son. |
1st-Peter 5:14 | Salute one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all you, who are in Christ Jesus. Amen. | Salute ye one another in a kiss of love; peace to you all who [are] in Christ Jesus! Amen. | Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with you all who [are] in Christ. |
