2nd-Peter 2:1But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be among you lying teachers, who shall bring in sects of perdition, and deny the Lord who bought them: bringing upon themselves swift destruction.And there did come also false prophets among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall bring in besides destructive sects, and the Master who bought them denying, bringing to themselves quick destruction,But there were false prophets also among the people, as there shall be also among you false teachers, who shall bring in by the bye destructive heresies, and deny the master that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction;
2nd-Peter 2:2And many shall follow their riotousnesses, through whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.and many shall follow out their destructive ways, because of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of,and many shall follow their dissolute ways, through whom the way of the truth shall be blasphemed.
2nd-Peter 2:3And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you. Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their perdition slumbereth not.and in covetousness, with moulded words, of you they shall make merchandise, whose judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction doth not slumber.And through covetousness, with well-turned words, will they make merchandise of you: for whom judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction slumbers not.
2nd-Peter 2:4For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but delivered them, drawn down by infernal ropes to the lower hell, unto torments, to be reserved unto judgment:For if God messengers who sinned did not spare, but with chains of thick gloom, having cast [them] down to Tartarus, did deliver [them] to judgment, having been reserved,For if God spared not [the] angels who had sinned, but having cast them down to the deepest pit of gloom has delivered them to chains of darkness [to be] kept for judgment;
2nd-Peter 2:5And spared not the original world, but preserved Noe, the eighth person, the preacher of justice, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly.and the old world did not spare, but the eighth person, Noah, of righteousness a preacher, did keep, a flood on the world of the impious having brought,and spared not [the] old world, but preserved Noe, [the] eighth, a preacher of righteousness, having brought in [the] flood upon [the] world of [the] ungodly;
2nd-Peter 2:6And reducing the cities of the Sodomites, and of the Gomorrhites, into ashes, condemned them to be overthrown, making them an example to those that should after act wickedly.and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah having turned to ashes, with an overthrow did condemn, an example to those about to be impious having set [them];and having reduced [the] cities of Sodom and Gomorrha to ashes, condemned [them] with an overthrow, setting [them as] an example to those that should [afterwards] live an ungodly life;
2nd-Peter 2:7And delivered just Lot, oppressed by the injustice and lewd conversation of the wicked.and righteous Lot, worn down by the conduct in lasciviousness of the impious, He did rescue,and saved righteous Lot, distressed with the abandoned conversation of the godless,
2nd-Peter 2:8For in sight and hearing he was just: dwelling among them, who from day to day vexed the just soul with unjust works.for in seeing and hearing, the righteous man, dwelling among them, day by day the righteous soul with unlawful works was harassing.(for the righteous man through seeing and hearing, dwelling among them, tormented [his] righteous soul day after day with [their] lawless works,)
2nd-Peter 2:9The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly from temptation, but to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be tormented.The Lord hath known to rescue pious ones out of temptation, and unrighteous ones to a day of judgment, being punished, to keep,[the] Lord knows [how] to deliver the godly out of trial, and to keep [the] unjust to [the] day of judgment [to be] punished;
2nd-Peter 2:10And especially them who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government, audacious, self willed, they fear not to bring in sects, blaspheming.and chiefly those going behind the flesh in desire of uncleanness, and lordship despising; presumptuous, self-complacent, dignities they are not afraid to speak evil of,and specially those who walk after the flesh in [the] lust of uncleanness, and despise lordship. Bold [are they], self-willed; they do not fear speaking injuriously of dignities:
2nd-Peter 2:11Whereas angels who are greater in strength and power, bring not against themselves a railing judgment.whereas messengers, in strength and power being greater, do not bear against them before the Lord an evil speaking judgment;when angels, who are greater in might and power, do not bring against them, before the Lord, an injurious charge.
2nd-Peter 2:12But these men, as irrational beasts, naturally tending to the snare and to destruction, blaspheming those things which they know not, shall perish in their corruption,and these, as irrational natural beasts, made to be caught and destroyed in what things they are ignorant of, speaking evil in their destruction shall be destroyed,But these, as natural animals without reason, made to be caught and destroyed, speaking injuriously in things they are ignorant of, shall also perish in their own corruption,
2nd-Peter 2:13Receiving the reward of their injustice, counting for a pleasure the delights of a day: stains and spots, sporting themselves to excess, rioting in their feasts with you:about to receive a reward of unrighteousness, pleasures counting the luxury in the day, spots and blemishes, luxuriating in their deceits, feasting with you,receiving [the] reward of unrighteousness; accounting ephemeral indulgence pleasure; spots and blemishes, rioting in their own deceits, feasting with you;
2nd-Peter 2:14Having eyes full of adultery and of sin that ceaseth not: alluring unstable souls, having their heart exercised with covetousness, children of malediction:having eyes full of adultery, and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having an heart exercised in covetousnesses, children of a curse,having eyes full of adultery, and that cease not from sin, alluring unestablished souls; having a heart practised in covetousness, children of curse;
2nd-Peter 2:15Leaving the right way they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam of Bosor, who loved the wages of iniquity,having forsaken a right way, they did go astray, having followed in the way of Balaam the [son] of Bosor, who a reward of unrighteousness did love,having left [the] straight way they have gone astray, having followed in the path of Balaam [the son] of Bosor, who loved [the] reward of unrighteousness;
2nd-Peter 2:16But had a check of his madness, the dumb beast used to the yoke, which speaking with man's voice, forbade the folly of the prophet.and had a rebuke of his own iniquity a dumb ass, in man`s voice having spoken, did forbid the madness of the prophet.but had reproof of his own wickedness [the] dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the folly of the prophet.
2nd-Peter 2:17These are fountains without water, and clouds tossed with whirlwinds, to whom the mist of darkness is reserved.These are wells without water, and clouds by a tempest driven, to whom the thick gloom of the darkness to the age hath been kept;These are springs without water, and mists driven by storm, to whom the gloom of darkness is reserved [for ever].
2nd-Peter 2:18For, speaking proud words of vanity, they allure by the desires of fleshly riotousness, those who for a little while escape, such as converse in error:for overswellings of vanity speaking, they do entice in desires of the flesh lasciviousnesses, those who had truly escaped from those conducting themselves in error,For [while] speaking great highflown words of vanity, they allure with [the] lusts of [the] flesh, by dissoluteness, those who have just fled those who walk in error,
2nd-Peter 2:19Promising them liberty, whereas they themselves are the slaves of corruption. For by whom a man is overcome, of the same also he is the slave.liberty to them promising, themselves being servants of the corruption, for by whom any one hath been overcome, to this one also he hath been brought to servitude,promising them liberty, while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a man is subdued, by him is he also brought into slavery.
2nd-Peter 2:20For if, flying from the pollutions of the world, through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they be again entangled in them and overcome: their latter state is become unto them worse than the former.for, if having escaped from the pollutions of the world, in the acknowledging of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and by these again being entangled, they have been overcome, become to them hath the last things worse than the first,For if after having escaped the pollutions of the world through [the] knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, again entangled, they are subdued by these, their last state is worse than the first.
2nd-Peter 2:21For it had been better for them not to have known the way of justice, than after they have known it, to turn back from that holy commandment which was delivered to them.for it were better to them not to have acknowledged the way of the righteousness, than having acknowledged [it], to turn back from the holy command delivered to them,For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known [it] to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.
2nd-Peter 2:22For, that of the true proverb has happened to them: The dog is returned to his vomit: and, The sow that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.and happened to them hath that of the true similitude; `A dog did turn back upon his own vomit,` and, `A sow having bathed herself to rolling in mire.`But that [word] of the true proverb has happened to them: [The] dog [has] turned back to his own vomit; and, [The] washed sow to [her] rolling in mud.
