Hebrews 6:1 | Wherefore leaving the word of the beginning of Christ, let us go on to things more perfect, not laying again the foundation of penance from dead works, and of faith towards God, | Wherefore, having left the word of the beginning of the Christ, unto the perfection we may advance, not again a foundation laying of reformation from dead works, and of faith on God, | Wherefore, leaving the word of the beginning of the Christ, let us go on [to what belongs] to full growth, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and faith in God, |
Hebrews 6:2 | Of the doctrine of baptisms, and imposition of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. | of the teaching of baptisms, of laying on also of hands, of rising again also of the dead, and of judgment age-during, | of [the] doctrine of washings, and of imposition of hands, and of resurrection of [the] dead, and of eternal judgment; |
Hebrews 6:3 | And this will we do, if God permit. | and this we will do, if God may permit, | and this will we do if God permit. |
Hebrews 6:4 | For it is impossible for those who were once illuminated, have tasted also the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, | for [it is] impossible for those once enlightened, having tasted also of the heavenly gift, and partakers having became of the Holy Spirit, | For it is impossible to renew again to repentance those once enlightened, and who have tasted of the heavenly gift, and have been made partakers of [the] Holy Spirit, |
Hebrews 6:5 | Have moreover tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, | and did taste the good saying of God, the powers also of the coming age, | and have tasted the good word of God, and [the] works of power of [the] age to come, |
Hebrews 6:6 | And are fallen away: to be renewed again to penance, crucifying again to themselves the Son of God, and making him a mockery. | and having fallen away, again to renew [them] to reformation, having crucified again to themselves the Son of God, and exposed to public shame. | and have fallen away, crucifying for themselves [as they do] the Son of God, and making a show of [him]. |
Hebrews 6:7 | For the earth that drinketh in the rain which cometh often upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is tilled, receiveth blessing from God. | For earth, that is drinking in the rain many times coming upon it, and is bringing forth herbs fit for those because of whom also it is dressed, doth partake of blessing from God, | For ground which drinks the rain which comes often upon it, and produces useful herbs for those for whose sakes also it is tilled, partakes of blessing from God; |
Hebrews 6:8 | But that which bringeth forth thorns and briers, is reprobate, and very near unto a curse, whose end is to be burnt. | and that which is bearing thorns and briers [is] disapproved of, and nigh to cursing, whose end [is] for burning; | but bringing forth thorns and briars, it is found worthless and nigh to a curse, whose end [is] to be burned. |
Hebrews 6:9 | But, my dearly beloved, we trust better things of you, and nearer to salvation; though we speak thus. | and we are persuaded, concerning you, beloved, the things that are better, and accompanying salvation, though even thus we speak, | But we are persuaded concerning you, beloved, better things, and connected with salvation, even if we speak thus. |
Hebrews 6:10 | For God is not unjust, that he should forget your work, and the love which you have shewn in his name, you who have ministered, and do minister to the saints. | for God is not unrighteous to forget your work, and the labour of the love, that ye shewed to His name, having ministered to the saints and ministering; | For God [is] not unrighteous to forget your work, and the love which ye have shewn to his name, having ministered to the saints, and [still] ministering. |
Hebrews 6:11 | And we desire that every one of you shew forth the same carefulness to the accomplishing of hope unto the end: | and we desire each one of you the same diligence to shew, unto the full assurance of the hope unto the end, | But we desire earnestly that each one of you shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end; |
Hebrews 6:12 | That you become not slothful, but followers of them, who through faith and patience shall inherit the promises. | that ye may not become slothful, but followers of those who through faith and patient endurance are inheriting the promises. | that ye be not sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience have been inheritors of the promises. |
Hebrews 6:13 | For God making promise to Abraham, because he had no one greater by whom he might swear, swore by himself, | For to Abraham God, having made promise, seeing He was able to swear by no greater, did swear by Himself, | For God, having promised to Abraham, since he had no greater to swear by, swore by himself, |
Hebrews 6:14 | Saying: Unless blessing I shall bless thee, and multiplying I shall multiply thee. | saying, `Blessing indeed I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee;` | saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee; |
Hebrews 6:15 | And so patiently enduring he obtained the promise. | and so, having patiently endured, he did obtain the promise; | and thus, having had long patience, he got the promise. |
Hebrews 6:16 | For men swear by one greater than themselves: and an oath for confirmation is the end of all their controversy. | for men indeed do swear by the greater, and an end of all controversy to them for confirmation [is] the oath, | For men indeed swear by a greater, and with them the oath is a term to all dispute, as making matters sure. |
Hebrews 6:17 | Wherein God, meaning more abundantly to shew to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed an oath: | in which God, more abundantly willing to shew to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, did interpose by an oath, | Wherein God, willing to shew more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of his purpose, intervened by an oath, |
Hebrews 6:18 | That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have the strongest comfort, who have fled for refuge to hold fast the hope set before us. | that through two immutable things, in which [it is] impossible for God to lie, a strong comfort we may have who did flee for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before [us], | that by two unchangeable things, in which [it was] impossible that God should lie, we might have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us, |
Hebrews 6:19 | Which we have as an anchor of the soul, sure and firm, and which entereth in even within the veil; | which we have, as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and entering into that within the vail, | which we have as anchor of the soul, both secure and firm, and entering into that within the veil, |
Hebrews 6:20 | Where the forerunner Jesus is entered for us, made a high priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedech. | whither a forerunner for us did enter Jesus, after the order of Melchisedek chief priest having become to the age. | where Jesus is entered as forerunner for us, become for ever a high priest according to the order of Melchisedec. |
