Matthew 5:1And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain, and when he was set down, his disciples came unto him.And having seen the multitudes, he went up to the mount, and he having sat down, his disciples came to him,But seeing the crowds, he went up into the mountain, and having sat down, his disciples came to him;
Matthew 5:2And opening his mouth, he taught them, saying:and having opened his mouth, he was teaching them, saying:and, having opened his mouth, he taught them, saying,
Matthew 5:3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.`Happy the poor in spirit because theirs is the reign of the heavens.Blessed [are] the poor in spirit, for *theirs* is the kingdom of the heavens.
Matthew 5:4Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land.`Happy the mourning because they shall be comforted.Blessed they that mourn, for *they* shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:5Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.`Happy the meek because they shall inherit the land.Blessed the meek, for *they* shall inherit the earth.
Matthew 5:6Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill.`Happy those hungering and thirsting for righteousness because they shall be filled.Blessed they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for *they* shall be filled.
Matthew 5:7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.`Happy the kind because they shall find kindness.Blessed the merciful, for *they* shall find mercy.
Matthew 5:8Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God.`Happy the clean in heart because they shall see God.Blessed the pure in heart, for *they* shall see God.
Matthew 5:9Blesses are the peacemakers: for they shall be called children of God.`Happy the peacemakers because they shall be called Sons of God.Blessed the peace-makers, for *they* shall be called sons of God.
Matthew 5:10Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.`Happy those persecuted for righteousness` sake because theirs is the reign of the heavens.Blessed they who are persecuted on account of righteousness, for *theirs* is the kingdom of the heavens.
Matthew 5:11Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake:`Happy are ye whenever they may reproach you, and may persecute, and may say any evil thing against you falsely for my sakeBlessed are ye when they may reproach and persecute you, and say every wicked thing against you, lying, for my sake.
Matthew 5:12Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.rejoice ye and be glad, because your reward [is] great in the heavens, for thus did they persecute the prophets who were before you.Rejoice and exult, for your reward is great in the heavens; for thus have they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:13You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men.`Ye are the salt of the land, but if the salt may lose savour, in what shall it be salted? for nothing is it good henceforth, except to be cast without, and to be trodden down by men.*Ye* are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have become insipid, wherewith shall it be salted? It is no longer fit for anything but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot by men.
Matthew 5:14You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid.`Ye are the light of the world, a city set upon a mount is not able to be hid;*Ye* are the light of the world: a city situated on the top of a mountain cannot be hid.
Matthew 5:15Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house.nor do they light a lamp, and put it under the measure, but on the lamp-stand, and it shineth to all those in the house;Nor do [men] light a lamp and put it under the bushel, but upon the lamp-stand, and it shines for all who are in the house.
Matthew 5:16So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.so let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and may glorify your Father who [is] in the heavens.Let your light thus shine before men, so that they may see your upright works, and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.
Matthew 5:17Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.`Do not suppose that I came to throw down the law or the prophets I did not come to throw down, but to fulfill;Think not that I am come to make void the law or the prophets; I am not come to make void, but to fulfil.
Matthew 5:18For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled.for, verily I say to you, till that the heaven and the earth may pass away, one iota or one tittle may not pass away from the law, till that all may come to pass.For verily I say unto you, Until the heaven and the earth pass away, one iota or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all come to pass.
Matthew 5:19He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.`Whoever therefore may loose one of these commands the least and may teach men so, least he shall be called in the reign of the heavens, but whoever may do and may teach [them], he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens.Whosoever then shall do away with one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whosoever shall practise and teach [them], *he* shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.
Matthew 5:20For I tell you, that unless your justice abound more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.`For I say to you, that if your righteousness may not abound above that of the scribes and Pharisees, ye may not enter to the reign of the heavens.For I say unto you, that unless your righteousness surpass [that] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
Matthew 5:21You have heard that it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not kill. And whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment.`Ye heard that it was said to the ancients: Thou shalt not kill, and whoever may kill shall be in danger of the judgment;Ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not kill; but whosoever shall kill shall be subject to the judgment.
Matthew 5:22But I say to you, that whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council. And whosoever shall say, Thou Fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.but I I say to you, that every one who is angry at his brother without cause, shall be in danger of the judgment, and whoever may say to his brother, Empty fellow! shall be in danger of the sanhedrim, and whoever may say, Rebel! shall be in danger of the gehenna of the fire.But *I* say unto you, that every one that is lightly angry with his brother shall be subject to the judgment; but whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be subject to [be called before] the sanhedrim; but whosoever shall say, Fool, shall be subject to the penalty of the hell of fire.
Matthew 5:23If therefore thou offer thy gift at the altar, and there thou remember that thy brother hath any thing against thee;`If, therefore, thou mayest bring thy gift to the altar, and there mayest remember that thy brother hath anything against thee,If therefore thou shouldest offer thy gift at the altar, and there shouldest remember that thy brother has something against thee,
Matthew 5:24Leave there thy offering before the altar, and go first to be reconciled to thy brother: and then coming thou shalt offer thy gift.leave there thy gift before the altar, and go first be reconciled to thy brother, and then having come bring thy gift.leave there thy gift before the altar, and first go, be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
Matthew 5:25Be at agreement with thy adversary betimes, whilst thou art in the way with him: lest perhaps the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.`Be agreeing with thy opponent quickly, while thou art in the way with him, that the opponent may not deliver thee to the judge, and the judge may deliver thee to the officer, and to prison thou mayest be cast,Make friends with thine adverse party quickly, whilst thou art in the way with him; lest some time the adverse party deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Matthew 5:26Amen I say to thee, thou shalt not go out from thence till thou repay the last farthing.verily I say to thee, thou mayest not come forth thence till that thou mayest pay the last farthing.Verily I say to thee, Thou shalt in no wise come out thence till thou hast paid the last farthing.
Matthew 5:27You have heard that it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not commit adultery.`Ye heard that it was said to the ancients: Thou shalt not commit adultery;Ye have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Matthew 5:28But I say to you, that whosoever shall look on a woman to lust after her, hath already committed adultery with her in his heart.but I I say to you, that every one who is looking on a woman to desire her, did already commit adultery with her in his heart.But *I* say unto you, that every one who looks upon a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Matthew 5:29And if thy right eye scandalize thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee. For it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than that thy whole body be cast into hell.`But, if thy right eye doth cause thee to stumble, pluck it out and cast from thee, for it is good to thee that one of thy members may perish, and not thy whole body be cast to gehenna.But if thy right eye be a snare to thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell.

Matthew 5:31And it hath been said, Whoseoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce.`And it was said, That whoever may put away his wife, let him give to her a writing of divorce;It has been said too, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a letter of divorce.
Matthew 5:32But I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, excepting for the cause of fornication, maketh her to commit adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery.but I I say to you, that whoever may put away his wife, save for the matter of whoredom, doth make her to commit adultery; and whoever may marry her who hath been put away doth commit adultery.But *I* say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except for cause of fornication, makes her commit adultery, and whosoever marries one that is put away commits adultery.
Matthew 5:33Again you have heard that it was said to them of old, Thou shalt not forswear thyself: but thou shalt perform thy oaths to the Lord.`Again, ye heard that it was said to the ancients: Thou shalt not swear falsely, but thou shalt pay to the Lord thine oaths;Again, ye have heard that it has been said to the ancients, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt render to the Lord what thou hast sworn.
Matthew 5:34But I say to you not to swear at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God:but I I say to you, not to swear at all; neither by the heaven, because it is the throne of God,But *I* say unto you, Do not swear at all; neither by the heaven, because it is [the] throne of God;
Matthew 5:35Nor by the earth, for it is his footstool: nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king:nor by the earth, because it is His footstool, nor by Jerusalem, because it is a city of a great king,nor by the earth, because it is [the] footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, because it is [the] city of the great King.
Matthew 5:36Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.nor by thy head mayest thou swear, because thou art not able one hair to make white or black;Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
Matthew 5:37But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.but let your word be, Yes, Yes, No, No, and that which is more than these is of the evil.But let your word be Yea, yea; Nay, nay; but what is more than these is from evil.
Matthew 5:38You have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.`Ye heard that it was said: Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth;Ye have heard that it has been said, Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.
Matthew 5:39But I say to you not to resist evil: but if one strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other:but I I say to you, not to resist the evil, but whoever shall slap thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other;But *I* say unto you, not to resist evil; but whoever shall strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other;
Matthew 5:40And if a man will contend with thee in judgment, and take away thy coat, let go thy cloak also unto him.and whoever is willing to take thee to law, and thy coat to take suffer to him also the cloak.and to him that would go to law with thee and take thy body coat, leave him thy cloak also.
Matthew 5:41And whosoever will force thee one mile, go with him other two,`And whoever shall impress thee one mile, go with him two,And whoever will compel thee to go one mile, go with him two.
Matthew 5:42Give to him that asketh of thee and from him that would borrow of thee turn not away.to him who is asking of thee be giving, and him who is willing to borrow from thee thou mayest not turn away.To him that asks of thee give, and from him that desires to borrow of thee turn not away.
Matthew 5:43You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thy enemy.`Ye heard that it was said: Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and shalt hate thine enemy;Ye have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy.
Matthew 5:44But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you:but I I say to you, Love your enemies, bless those cursing you, do good to those hating you, and pray for those accusing you falsely, and persecuting you,But *I* say unto you, Love your enemies, [bless those who curse you,] do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who [insult you and] persecute you,
Matthew 5:45That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven, who maketh his sun to rise upon the good, and bad, and raineth upon the just and the unjust.that ye may be sons of your Father in the heavens, because His sun He doth cause to rise on evil and good, and He doth send rain on righteous and unrighteous.that ye may be [the] sons of your Father who is in [the] heavens; for he makes his sun rise on evil and good, and sends rain on just and unjust.
Matthew 5:46For if you love them that love you, what reward shall you have? do not even the publicans this?`For, if ye may love those loving you, what reward have ye? do not also the tax-gatherers the same?For if ye should love those who love you, what reward have ye? Do not also the tax-gatherers the same?
Matthew 5:47And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more? do not also the heathens this?and if ye may salute your brethren only, what do ye abundant? do not also the tax-gatherers so?And if ye should salute your brethren only, what do ye extraordinary? Do not also the Gentiles the same?
Matthew 5:48Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect.ye shall therefore be perfect, as your Father who [is] in the heavens is perfect.Be *ye* therefore perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.
