John 8:1And Jesus went unto mount Olivet. And at dawn he came again to the temple,Jesus went to the mount of Olives:
John 8:2And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him, and sitting down he taught them.and all the people were coming unto him, and having sat down, he was teaching them; And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down and taught them.
John 8:3And the scribes and the Pharisees bring unto him a woman taken in adultery: and they set her in the midst, and the scribes and the Pharisees bring unto him a woman having been taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst,And the scribes and Pharisees brought to him a woman taken in adultery: and when they had set her in the midst,
John 8:4And said to him: Master, this woman was even now taken in adultery.they say to him, `Teacher, this woman was taken in the very crime committing adultery,They say to him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
John 8:5Now Moses in the law commanded us to stone such a one. But what sayest thou?and in the law, Moses did command us that such be stoned; thou, therefore, what dost thou say?`Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned; but what sayest thou?
John 8:6And this they said tempting him, that they might accuse him. But Jesus bowing himself down, wrote with his finger on the ground.and this they said, trying him, that they might have to accuse him. And Jesus, having stooped down, with the finger he was writing on the ground,This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
John 8:7When therefore they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.and when they continued asking him, having bent himself back, he said unto them, `The sinless of you let him first cast the stone at her;`So when they continued asking him, he raised himself, and said to them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
John 8:8And again stooping down, he wrote on the ground.and again having stooped down, he was writing on the ground,And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
John 8:9But they hearing this, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest. And Jesus alone remained, and the woman standing in the midst.and they having heard, and by the conscience being convicted, were going forth one by one, having begun from the elders unto the last; and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. And they who heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even to the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
John 8:10Then Jesus lifting up himself, said to her: Woman, where are they that accused thee? Hath no man condemned thee? And Jesus having bent himself back, and having seen no one but the woman, said to her, `Woman, where are those thine accusers? did no one pass sentence upon thee?`When Jesus had raised himself, and saw none but the woman, he said to her, Woman, where are those thy accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
John 8:11Who said: No man, Lord. And Jesus said: Neither will I condemn thee. Go, and now sin no more.and she said, `No one, Sir;` and Jesus said to her, `Neither do I pass sentence on thee; be going on, and no more sin.`She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
John 8:12Again therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying: I am the light of the world: he that followeth me, walketh not in darkness, but shall have the light of life.Again, therefore, Jesus spake to them, saying, `I am the light of the world; he who is following me shall not walk in the darkness, but he shall have the light of the life.`Then Jesus spoke again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:13The Pharisees therefore said to him: Thou givest testimony of thyself: thy testimony is not true. The Pharisees, therefore, said to him, `Thou of thyself dost testify, thy testimony is not true;`The Pharisees therefore said to him, Thou testifiest concerning thyself; thy testimony is not true.
John 8:14Jesus answered, and said to them: Although I give testimony of myself, my testimony is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go: but you know not whence I come, or whither I go.Jesus answered and said to them, `And if I testify of myself my testimony is true, because I have known whence I came, and whither I go, and ye ye have not known whence I come, or whither I go.Jesus answered and said to them, Though I testify concerning myself, yet my testimony is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
John 8:15You judge according to the flesh: I judge not any man.`Ye according to the flesh do judge; I do not judge any one,Ye judge after the flesh, I judge no man.
John 8:16And if I do judge, my judgment is true: because I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.and even if I do judge my judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who sent me;And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
John 8:17And in your law it is written, that the testimony of two men is true.and also in your law it hath been written, that the testimony of two men are true;It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
John 8:18I am one that give testimony of myself: and the Father that sent me giveth testimony of me.I am [one] who is testifying of myself, and the Father who sent me doth testify of me.`I am one that testifieth concerning myself; and the Father that sent me, testifieth concerning me.
John 8:19They said therefore to him: Where is thy Father? Jesus answered: Neither me do you know, nor my Father: if you did know me, perhaps you would know my Father also. They said, therefore, to him, `Where is thy father?` Jesus answered, `Ye have neither known me nor my Father: if me ye had known, my Father also ye had known.`Then said they to him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also.
John 8:20These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, teaching in the temple: and no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. These sayings spake Jesus in the treasury, teaching in the temple, and no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come; These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him, for his hour was not yet come.
John 8:21Again therefore Jesus said to them: I go, and you shall seek me, and you shall die in your sin. Whither I go, you cannot come.therefore said Jesus again to them, `I go away, and ye will seek me, and in your sin ye shall die; whither I go away, ye are not able to come.`Then said Jesus again to them, I am going away, and ye will seek me, and will die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
John 8:22The Jews therefore said: Will he kill himself, because he said: Whither I go, you cannot come? The Jews, therefore, said, `Will he kill himself, because he saith, Whither I go away, ye are not able to come?`Then said the Jews, will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.
John 8:23And he said to them: You are from beneath, I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world.and he said to them, `Ye are from beneath, I am from above; ye are of this world, I am not of this world; And he said to them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
John 8:24Therefore I said to you, that you shall die in your sins. For if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sin.I said, therefore, to you, that ye shall die in your sins, for if ye may not believe that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.`I said therefore to you, that ye will die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye will die in your sins.
John 8:25They said therefore to him: Who art thou? Jesus said to them: The beginning, who also speak unto you. They said, therefore, to him, `Thou who art thou?` and Jesus said to them, `Even what I did speak of to you at the beginning; Then said they to him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith to them, Even the same that I said to you from the beginning.
John 8:26Many things I have to speak and to judge of you. But he that sent me, is true: and the things I have heard of him, these same I speak in the world.many things I have to speak concerning you and to judge, but He who sent me is true, and I what things I heard from Him these I say to the world.`I have many things to say, and to judge of you: but he that sent me, is true: and I speak to the world those things which I have heard from him.
John 8:27And they understood not, that he called God his Father. They knew not that of the Father he spake to them; They understood not that he spoke to them concerning the Father.
John 8:28Jesus therefore said to them: When you shall have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know, that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself, but as the Father hath taught me, these things I speak:Jesus, therefore, said to them, `When ye may lift up the Son of Man then ye will know that I am [he]; and of myself I do nothing, but according as my Father did teach me, these things I speak; Then said Jesus to them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
John 8:29And he that sent me, is with me, and he hath not left me alone: for I do always the things that please him.and He who sent me is with me; the Father did not leave me alone, because I, the things pleasing to Him, do always.`And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
John 8:30When he spoke these things, many believed in him.As he is speaking these things, many believed in him;As he spoke these words, many believed on him.
John 8:31Then Jesus said to those Jews, who believed him: If you continue in my word, you shall be my disciples indeed.Jesus, therefore, said unto the Jews who believed in him, `If ye may remain in my word, truly my disciples ye are, and ye shall know the truth,Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed on him, If ye continue in my word, ye are my disciples indeed;
John 8:32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.and the truth shall make you free.`And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:33They answered him: We are the seed of Abraham, and we have never been slaves to any man: how sayest thou: you shall be free? They answered him, `Seed of Abraham we are; and to no one have we been servants at any time; how dost thou say Ye shall become free?`They answered him, We are Abraham's offspring, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
John 8:34Jesus answered them: Amen, amen I say unto you: that whosoever committeth sin, is the servant of sin.Jesus answered them, `Verily, verily, I say to you Every one who is committing sin, is a servant of the sin,Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Whoever committeth sin, is the servant of sin.
John 8:35Now the servant abideth not in the house for ever; but the son abideth for ever.and the servant doth not remain in the house to the age, the son doth remain to the age;And the servant abideth not in the house for ever, but the Son abideth for ever.
John 8:36If therefore the son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.if then the son may make you free, in reality ye shall be free.If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 8:37I know that you are the children of Abraham: but you seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.`I have known that ye are seed of Abraham, but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you;I know that ye are Abraham's offspring; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
John 8:38I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and you do the things that you have seen with your father.I that which I have seen with my Father do speak, and ye, therefore, that which ye have seen with your father ye do.`I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
John 8:39They answered, and said to him: Abraham is our father. Jesus saith to them: If you be the children of Abraham, do the works of Abraham. They answered and said to him, `Our father is Abraham;` Jesus saith to them, `If children of Abraham ye were, the works of Abraham ye were doing; They answered and said to him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith to them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
John 8:40But now you seek to kill me, a man who have spoken the truth to you, which I have heard of God. This Abraham did not.and now, ye seek to kill me a man who hath spoken to you the truth I heard from God; this Abraham did not;But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard from God: this did not Abraham.
John 8:41You do the works of your father. They said therefore to him: We are not born of fornication: we have one Father, even God.ye do the works of your father.` They said, therefore, to him, `We of whoredom have not been born; one Father we have God;`Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We are not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
John 8:42Jesus therefore said to them: If God were your Father, you would indeed love me. For from God I proceeded, and came; for I came not of myself, but he sent me:Jesus then said to them, `If God were your father, ye were loving me, for I came forth from God, and am come; for neither have I come of myself, but He sent me;Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
John 8:43Why do you not know my speech? Because you cannot hear my word.wherefore do ye not know my speech? because ye are not able to hear my word. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
John 8:44You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and he stood not in the truth; because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.`Ye are of a father the devil, and the desires of your father ye will to do; he was a man-slayer from the beginning, and in the truth he hath not stood, because there is no truth in him; when one may speak the falsehood, of his own he speaketh, because he is a liar also his father.Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8:45But if I say the truth, you believe me not.`And because I say the truth, ye do not believe me.And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
John 8:46Which of you shall convince me of sin? If I say the truth to you, why do you not believe me?Who of you doth convict me of sin? and if I speak truth, wherefore do ye not believe me?Which of you convicteth me of sin? And if I speak the truth, why do ye not believe me?
John 8:47He that is of God, heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not, because you are not of God.he who is of God, the sayings of God he doth hear; because of this ye do not hear, because of God ye are not.`He that is of God, heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
John 8:48The Jews therefore answered, and said to him: Do not we say well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? The Jews, therefore, answered and said to him, `Do we not say well, that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a demon?`Then answered the Jews, and said to him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a demon?
John 8:49Jesus answered: I have not a devil: but I honour my Father, and you have dishonoured me.Jesus answered, `I have not a demon, but I honour my Father, and ye dishonour me;Jesus answered, I have not a demon; but I honor my Father, and ye dishonor me.
John 8:50But I seek not my own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.and I do not seek my own glory; there is who is seeking and is judging; And I seek not my own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
John 8:51Amen, amen I say to you: If any man keep my word, he shall not see death for ever.verily, verily, I say to you, If any one may keep my word, death he may not see to the age.`Verily, verily, I say to you, If a man shall keep my saying, he shall never see death.
John 8:52The Jews therefore said: Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest: If any man keep my word, he shall not taste death for ever. The Jews, therefore, said to him, `Now we have known that thou hast a demon; Abraham did die, and the prophets, and thou dost say, If any one may keep my word, he shall not taste of death to the age! Then said the Jews to him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man shall keep my saying, he shall never taste death.
John 8:53Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead. Whom dost thou make thyself?Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who died? and the prophets died; whom dost thou make thyself?`Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
John 8:54Jesus answered: If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father that glorifieth me, of whom you say that he is your God.Jesus answered, `If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing; it is my Father who is glorifying me, of whom ye say that He is your God;Jesus answered, If I honor myself, my honor is nothing: it is my Father that honoreth me, of whom ye say, that he is your God:
John 8:55And you have not known him, but I know him. And if I shall say that I know him not, I shall be like to you, a liar. But I do know him, and do keep his word.and ye have not known Him, and I have known Him, and if I say that I have not known Him, I shall be like you speaking falsely; but I have known Him, and His word I keep;Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I should be a liar like you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
John 8:56Abraham your father rejoiced that he might see my day: he saw it, and was glad.Abraham, your father, was glad that he might see my day; and he saw, and did rejoice.`Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
John 8:57The Jews therefore said to him: Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? The Jews, therefore, said unto him, `Thou art not yet fifty years old, and Abraham hast thou seen?`Then said the Jews to him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
John 8:58Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.Jesus said to them, `Verily, verily, I say to you, Before Abraham`s coming I am;`Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Before Abraham was, I am.
John 8:59They took up stones therefore to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple.they took up, therefore, stones that they may cast at him, but Jesus hid himself, and went forth out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.Then they took up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
