1st-John 2:1 | My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. But if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the just: | My little children, these things I write to you, that ye may not sin: and if any one may sin, an advocate we have with the Father, Jesus Christ, a righteous one, | My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous. |
1st-John 2:2 | And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. | and he he is a propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world, | And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. |
1st-John 2:3 | And by this we know that we have known him, if we keep his commandments. | and in this we know that we have known him, if his commands we may keep; | This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments. |
1st-John 2:4 | He who saith that he knoweth him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. | he who is saying, `I have known him,` and his command is not keeping, a liar he is, and in him the truth is not; | He who says, "I know him," and doesn't keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. |
1st-John 2:5 | But he that keepeth his word, in him in very deed the charity of God is perfected; and by this we know that we are in him. | and whoever may keep his word, truly in him the love of God hath been perfected; in this we know that in him we are. | But whoever keeps his word, God's love has most assuredly been perfected in him. This is how we know that we are in him: |
1st-John 2:6 | He that saith he abideth in him, ought himself also to walk, even as he walked. | He who is saying in him he doth remain, ought according as he walked also himself so to walk. | he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like he walked. |
1st-John 2:7 | Dearly beloved, I write not a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you have heard. | Brethren, a new command I write not to you, but an old command, that ye had from the beginning the old command is the word that ye heard from the beginning; | Brothers, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning. |
1st-John 2:8 | Again a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true both in him and in you; because the darkness is passed, and the true light now shineth. | again, a new command I write to you, which thing is true in him and in you, because the darkness doth pass away, and the true light doth now shine; | Again, I write a new commandment to you, which thing is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines. |
1st-John 2:9 | He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. | he who is saying, in the light he is, and his brother is hating, in the darkness he is till now; | He who says he is in the light and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now. |
1st-John 2:10 | He that loveth his brother, abideth in the light, and there is no scandal in him. | he who is loving his brother, in the light he doth remain, and a stumbling-block in him there is not; | He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him. |
1st-John 2:11 | But he that hateth his brother, is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth; because the darkness hath blinded his eyes. | and he who is hating his brother, in the darkness he is, and in the darkness he doth walk, and he hath not known whither he doth go, because the darkness did blind his eyes. | But he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and doesn't know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. |
1st-John 2:12 | I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake. | I write to you, little children, because the sins have been forgiven you through his name; | I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake. |
1st-John 2:13 | I write unto you, fathers, because you have known him, who is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. | I write to you, fathers, because ye have known him who [is] from the beginning; I write to you, young men, because ye have overcome the evil. I write to you, little youths, because ye have known the Father: | I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, little children, because you know the Father. |
1st-John 2:14 | I write unto you, babes, because you have known the Father. I write unto you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and you have overcome the wicked one. | I did write to you, fathers, because ye have known him who [is] from the beginning; I did write to you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God in you doth remain, and ye have overcome the evil. | I have written to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one. |
1st-John 2:15 | Love not the world, nor the things which are in the world. If any man love the world, the charity of the Father is not in him. | Love not ye the world, nor the things in the world; if any one doth love the world, the love of the Father is not in him, | Don't love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love isn't in him. |
1st-John 2:16 | For all that is in the world, is the concupiscence of the flesh, and the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life, which is not of the Father, but is of the world. | because all that [is] in the world the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the ostentation of the life is not of the Father, but of the world, | For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn't the Father's, but is the world's. |
1st-John 2:17 | And the world passeth away, and the concupiscence thereof: but he that doth the will of God, abideth for ever. | and the world doth pass away, and the desire of it, and he who is doing the will of God, he doth remain to the age. | The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God's will remains forever. |
1st-John 2:18 | Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that Antichrist cometh, even now there are become many Antichrists: whereby we know that it is the last hour. | Little youths, it is the last hour; and even as ye heard that the antichrist doth come, even now antichrists have become many whence we know that it is the last hour; | Little children, these are the end times, and as you heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By this we know that it is the end times. |
1st-John 2:19 | They went out from us, but they were not of us. For if they had been of us, they would no doubt have remained with us; but that they may be manifest, that they are not all of us. | out of us they went forth, but they were not of us, for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but that they might be manifested that they are not all of us. | They went out from us, but they didn't belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have continued with us. But they left, that they might be revealed that none of them belong to us. |
1st-John 2:20 | But you have the unction from the Holy One, and know all things. | And ye have an anointing from the Holy One, and have known all things; | You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know the truth. |
1st-John 2:21 | I have not written to you as to them that know not the truth, but as to them that know it: and that no lie is of the truth. | I did not write to you because ye have not known the truth, but because ye have known it, and because no lie is of the truth. | I have not written to you because you don't know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. |
1st-John 2:22 | Who is a liar, but he who denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denieth the Father, and the Son. | Who is the liar, except he who is denying that Jesus is the Christ? this one is the antichrist who is denying the Father and the Son; | Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. |
1st-John 2:23 | Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father. He that confesseth the Son, hath the Father also. | every one who is denying the Son, neither hath he the Father, [he who is confessing the Son hath the Father also.] | Whoever denies the Son, the same doesn't have the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also. |
1st-John 2:24 | As for you, let that which you have heard from the beginning, abide in you. If that abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning, you also shall abide in the Son, and in the Father. | Ye, then, that which ye heard from the beginning, in you let it remain; if in you may remain that which from the beginning ye did hear, ye also in the Son and in the Father shall remain, | Therefore, as for you, let that remain in you which you heard from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father. |
1st-John 2:25 | And this is the promise which he hath promised us, life everlasting. | and this is the promise that He did promise us the life the age-during. | This is the promise which he promised us, the eternal life. |
1st-John 2:26 | These things have I written to you, concerning them that seduce you. | These things I did write to you concerning those leading you astray; | These things I have written to you concerning those who would lead you astray. |
1st-John 2:27 | And as for you, let the unction, which you have received from him, abide in you. And you have no need that any man teach you; but as his unction teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie. And as it hath taught you, abide in him. | and you, the anointing that ye did receive from him, in you it doth remain, and ye have no need that any one may teach you, but as the same anointing doth teach you concerning all, and is true, and is not a lie, and even as was taught you, ye shall remain in him. | As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don't need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him. |
1st-John 2:28 | And now, little children, abide in him, that when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be confounded by him at his coming. | And now, little children, remain in him, that when he may be manifested, we may have boldness, and may not be ashamed before him, in his presence; | Now, little children, remain in him, that when he appears, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. |
1st-John 2:29 | If you know, that he is just, know ye, that every one also, who doth justice, is born of him. | if ye know that he is righteous, know ye that every one doing the righteousness, of him hath been begotten. | If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of him. |
