Luke 11:6 | For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? | for a friend of mine is come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him; | for a friend of mine has just come to my house from a distance, and I have nothing for him to eat'? |
Luke 11:7 | And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. | and he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee? | "And he from indoors shall answer, "`Do not pester me. The door is now barred, and I am here in bed with my children. I cannot get up and give you bread.' |
Luke 11:8 | I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. | I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will arise and give him as many as he needeth. | "I tell you that even if he will not rise and give him the loaves because he is his friend, at any rate because of his persistency he will rouse himself and give him as many as he requires. |

Luke 11:18 | If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. | And if Satan also is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out demons by Beelzebub. | And if Satan really has engaged in fierce conflict with himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because you say that I expel demons by the power of Baal-zebul. |
Luke 11:19 | And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. | And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. | And if it is by the power of Baal-zebul that I expel the demons, by whom do your disciples expel them? They therefore shall be your judges. |

When your eyesight is good, your whole body also is lighted up; but when it is defective, your body is darkened. |

Luke 11:39 | And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. | And the Lord said unto him, Now ye the Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter; but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness. | The Master however said to him, "Here we see how you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup or plate, while your secret hearts are full of greed and selfishness. |
Luke 11:40 | Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also? | Ye foolish ones, did not he that made the outside make the inside also? | Foolish men! Did not He who made the outside make the inside also? |
Luke 11:41 | But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you. | But give for alms those things which are within; and behold, all things are clean unto you. | But as to what is within, give alms, and instantly all is clean in you. |
Luke 11:42 | But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. | But woe unto you Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and every herb, and pass over justice and the love of God: but these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. | "But alas for you Pharisees! for you pay tithes on your mint and rue and every kind of garden vegetable, and are indifferent to justice and the love of God. These are the things you ought to have attended to, while not neglecting the others. |
Luke 11:43 | Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets. | Woe unto you Pharisees! for ye love the chief seats in the synagogues, and the salutations in the marketplaces. | Alas for you Pharisees! for you love the best seats in the synagogues, and you like to be bowed to in places of public resort. |
Luke 11:44 | Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them. | Woe unto you! for ye are as the tombs which appear not, and the men that walk over [them] know it not. | Alas for you! for you are like the tombs which lie hidden, and the people who walk over them are not aware of their existence." |
Luke 11:45 | Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also. | And one of the lawyers answering saith unto him, Teacher, in saying this thou reproachest us also. | Hereupon one of the expounders of the Law exclaimed, "Rabbi, in saying such things you reproach us also." |
Luke 11:46 | And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. | And he said, Woe unto you lawyers also! for ye load men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. | "Alas too for you expounders of the Law!" replied Jesus, "for you load men with cumbrous burdens which you yourselves will not touch with one of your fingers. |
Luke 11:47 | Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. | Woe unto you! for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. | Alas for you! for you repair the tombs of the Prophets, whom your forefathers killed. |
Luke 11:48 | Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres. | So ye are witnesses and consent unto the works of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye build [their tombs]. | It follows that you bear testimony to the actions of your forefathers and that you fully approve thereof. They slew, you build. |
Luke 11:49 | Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute: | Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and [some] of them they shall kill and persecute; | "For this reason also the Wisdom of God has said, `I will send Prophets and Apostles to them, of whom they will kill some and persecute others,' |
Luke 11:50 | That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; | that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; | so that the blood of all the Prophets, that is being shed from the creation of the world onwards, may be required from the present generation. |
