1st-Peter 4:1Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; Christ, then, having suffered for us in [the] flesh, do *ye* also arm yourselves with the same mind; for he that has suffered in [the] flesh has done with sin,So that as Jesus was put to death in the flesh, do you yourselves be of the same mind; for the death of the flesh puts an end to sin;
1st-Peter 4:2That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. no longer to live the rest of [his] time in [the] flesh to men's lusts, but to God's will.So that you may give the rest of your lives in the flesh, not to the desires of men, but to the purpose of God.
1st-Peter 4:3For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: For the time past [is] sufficient [for us] to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, lusts, wine-drinking, revels, drinkings, and unhallowed idolatries.Because for long enough, in times past, we have been living after the way of the Gentiles, given up to the desires of the flesh, to drinking and feasting and loose behaviour and unclean worship of images;
1st-Peter 4:4Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with [them] to the same sink of corruption, speaking injuriously [of you];And they are wondering that you no longer go with them in this violent wasting of life, and are saying evil things of you:
1st-Peter 4:5Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. who shall render account to him who is ready to judge [the] living and [the] dead.But they will have to give an account of themselves to him who is ready to be the judge of the living and the dead.
1st-Peter 4:6For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. For to this [end] were the glad tidings preached to [the] dead also, that they might be judged, as regards men, after [the] flesh, but live, as regards God, after [the] Spirit.For this was the reason why the good news of Jesus was given even to the dead, so that they might be judged as men in the flesh, but might be living before God in the spirit.
1st-Peter 4:7But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. But the end of all things is drawn nigh: be sober therefore, and be watchful unto prayers;But the end of all things is near: so be serious in your behaviour and keep on the watch with prayer;
1st-Peter 4:8And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. but before all things having fervent love among yourselves, because love covers a multitude of sins;And most of all be warm in your love for one another; because in love there is forgiveness for sins without number:
1st-Peter 4:9Use hospitality one to another without grudging. hospitable one to another, without murmuring;Keep open house for all with a glad heart;
1st-Peter 4:10As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. each according as he has received a gift, ministering it to one another, as good stewards of [the] various grace of God.Making distribution among one another of whatever has been given to you, like true servants of the unmeasured grace of God;
1st-Peter 4:11If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. If any one speak as oracles of God; if any one minister as of strength which God supplies; that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the might for the ages of ages. Amen.If anyone has anything to say, let it be as the words of God; if anyone has the desire to be the servant of others, let him do it in the strength which is given by God; so that in all things God may have the glory through Jesus Christ, whose are the glory and the power for ever.
1st-Peter 4:12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: Beloved, take not [as] strange the fire [of persecution] which has taken place amongst you for [your] trial, as if a strange thing was happening to you;Dear brothers, do not be surprised, as if it was something strange, if your faith is tested as by fire:
1st-Peter 4:13But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. but as ye have share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, that in the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exultation.But be glad that you are given a part in the pains of Christ; so that at the revelation of his glory you may have great joy.
1st-Peter 4:14If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. If ye are reproached in [the] name of Christ, blessed [are ye]; for the [Spirit] of glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you: [on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.]If men say evil things of you because of the name of Christ, happy are you; for the Spirit of glory and of God is resting on you.
1st-Peter 4:15But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Let none of you suffer indeed as murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or as overseer of other people's matters;Let no one among you undergo punishment as a taker of life, or as a thief, or as an evil-doer, or as one who is over-interested in other men's business;
1st-Peter 4:16Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. but if as a christian, let him not be ashamed, but glorify God in this name.But if he undergoes punishment as a Christian, that is no shame to him; let him give glory to God in this name.
1st-Peter 4:17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? For the time of having the judgment begin from the house of God [is come]; but if first from us, what [shall be] the end of those who obey not the glad tidings of God?For the time has come for the judging, starting with the church of God; but if it makes a start with us, what will be the end of those who are not under the rule of God?
1st-Peter 4:18And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? And if the righteous is difficultly saved, where shall the impious and [the] sinner appear?And if it is hard for even the good man to get salvation, what chance has the man without religion or the sinner?
1st-Peter 4:19Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. Wherefore also let them who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing to a faithful Creator.For this reason let those who by the purpose of God undergo punishment, keep on in well-doing and put their souls into the safe hands of their Maker.
