| Matthew 3:1 | In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, | Now in those days comes John the baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, | And in those days John the Baptist came preaching in the waste land of Judaea, |
| Matthew 3:2 | And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. | and saying, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn nigh. | Saying, Let your hearts be turned from sin; for the kingdom of heaven is near. |
| Matthew 3:3 | For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. | For this is he who has been spoken of through Esaias the prophet, saying, Voice of him that crieth in the wilderness: prepare ye the way of [the] Lord, make straight his paths. | For this is he of whom Isaiah the prophet said, The voice of one crying in the waste land, Make ready the way of the Lord, make his roads straight. |

| Matthew 3:8 | Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: | Produce therefore fruit worthy of repentance. | Let your change of heart be seen in your works: |
| Matthew 3:9 | And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. | And do not think to say within yourselves, We have Abraham for [our] father; for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. | And say not to yourselves, We have Abraham for our father; because I say to you that God is able from these stones to make children for Abraham. |
| Matthew 3:10 | And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. | And already the axe is applied to the root of the trees; every tree therefore not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. | And even now the axe is put to the root of the trees; every tree then which does not give good fruit is cut down, and put into the fire. |

| Matthew 3:12 | Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. | whose winnowing fan [is] in his hand, and he shall thoroughly purge his threshing-floor, and shall gather his wheat into the garner, but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable. | In whose hand is the instrument with which he will make clean his grain; he will put the good grain in his store, but the waste will be burned up in the fire which will never be put out. |

Then he suffers him. | But Jesus made answer, saying to him, Let it be so now: because so it is right for us to make righteousness complete. Then he gave him baptism. |
