Titus 1:3But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour; but has manifested in its own due season his word, in [the] proclamation with which *I* have been entrusted, according to [the] commandment of our Saviour God;Who, in his time, made clear his word in the good news, of which, by the order of God our Saviour, I became a preacher;
Titus 1:4To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour. to Titus, my own child according to [the] faith common [to us]: Grace and peace from God [the] Father, and Christ Jesus our Saviour.To Titus, my true child in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour.
Titus 1:5For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou mightest go on to set right what remained [unordered], and establish elders in each city, as *I* had ordered thee:I did not take you with me when I went away from Crete, so that you might do what was necessary to put things in order there, placing men in authority over the churches in every town, as I said to you;
Titus 1:6If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. if any one be free from all charge [against him], husband of one wife, having believing children not accused of excess or unruly.Men having a good record, husbands of one wife, whose children are of the faith, children of whom it may not be said that they are given to loose living or are uncontrolled.
Titus 1:7For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; For the overseer must be free from all charge [against him] as God's steward; not headstrong, not passionate, not disorderly through wine, not a striker, not seeking gain by base means;For it is necessary for a Bishop to be a man of virtue, as God's servant; not pushing himself forward, not quickly moved to wrath or blows, not desiring profit for himself;
Titus 1:8But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; but hospitable, a lover of goodness, discreet, just, pious, temperate,But opening his house freely to guests; a lover of what is good, serious-minded, upright, holy, self-controlled;
Titus 1:9Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. clinging to the faithful word according to the doctrine taught, that he may be able both to encourage with sound teaching and refute gainsayers.Keeping to the true word of the teaching, so that he may be able to give comfort by right teaching and overcome the arguments of the doubters.
Titus 1:10For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: For there are many and disorderly vain speakers and deceivers of people's minds, specially those of [the] circumcision,For there are men who are not ruled by law; foolish talkers, false teachers, specially those of the circumcision,
Titus 1:11Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. who must have their mouths stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which ought not [to be taught] for the sake of base gain.By whom some families have been completely overturned; who take money for teaching things which are not right; these will have to be stopped.
Titus 1:12One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. Titus 1:15Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. All things [are] pure to the pure; but to the defiled and unbelieving nothing [is] pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.To the clean in heart all things are clean: but to those who are unclean and without faith nothing is clean; they become unclean in mind and in thought.
