Acts 10:1There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, But a certain man in Caesarea, by name Cornelius, a centurion of the band called Italic,Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,
Acts 10:2A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. pious, and fearing God with all his house, [both] giving much alms to the people, and supplicating God continually,a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave alms generously to the people, and always prayed to God.
Acts 10:3He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. saw plainly in a vision, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming unto him, and saying to him, Cornelius.At about the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him, and saying to him, "Cornelius!"
Acts 10:4And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. But he, having fixed his eyes upon him, and become full of fear, said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayers and thine alms have gone up for a memorial before God.He, fastening his eyes on him, and being frightened, said, "What is it, Lord?" He said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have gone up for a memorial before God.
Acts 10:5And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: And now send men to Joppa and fetch Simon, who is surnamed Peter.Now send men to Joppa, and get one Simon, who is surnamed Peter.
Acts 10:6He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do. He lodges with a certain Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.He lodges with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the seaside."
Acts 10:7And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually; And when the angel who was speaking to him had departed, having called two of his household and a pious soldier of those who were constantly with him,When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.
Acts 10:8And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa. and related all things to them, he sent them to Joppa.Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
Acts 10:9On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: And on the morrow, as these were journeying and drawing near to the city, Peter went up on the house to pray, about the sixth hour.Now on the next day, as they were on their journey, and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, at about noon.
Acts 10:10And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, And he became hungry and desired to eat. But as they were making ready an ecstasy came upon him:He became hungry, and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.
Acts 10:11And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: and he beholds the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as a great sheet, [bound] by [the] four corners [and] let down to the earth;He saw heaven opened, and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet, let down by four corners on the earth,
Acts 10:12Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. in which were all the quadrupeds and creeping things of the earth, and the fowls of the heaven.in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.
Acts 10:13And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. And there was a voice to him, Rise, Peter, slay and eat.A voice came to him, "Rise, Peter, kill and eat!"
Acts 10:14But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. And Peter said, In no wise, Lord; for I have never eaten anything common or unclean.But Peter said, "Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean."
Acts 10:15And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. And [there was] a voice again the second time to him, What God has cleansed, do not *thou* make common.A voice came to him again the second time, "What God has cleansed, you must not make unholy."
Acts 10:16This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. And this took place thrice, and the vessel was straightway taken up into heaven.This was done three times, and immediately the vessel was received up into heaven.
Acts 10:17Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, And as Peter doubted in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold also the men who were sent by Cornelius, having sought out the house of Simon, stood at the gate,Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate,
Acts 10:18And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there. and having called [some one], they inquired if Simon who was surnamed Peter was lodged there.and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, was lodging there.
Acts 10:19While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. But as Peter continued pondering over the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men seek thee;While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men seek you.
Acts 10:20Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them. but rise up, go down, and go with them, nothing doubting, because *I* have sent them.But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them."
Acts 10:21Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come? And Peter going down to the men said, Behold, *I* am he whom ye seek: what is the cause for which ye come?Peter went down to the men, and said, "Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?"
Acts 10:22And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee. And they said, Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man, and fearing God, and borne witness to by the whole nation of the Jews, has been divinely instructed by a holy angel to send for thee to his house, and hear words from thee.They said, "Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.
Acts 10:23Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him. Having therefore invited them in, he lodged them. And on the morrow, rising up he went away with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa went with him.So he called them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.
Acts 10:24And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends. And on the morrow they came to Caesarea. But Cornelius was looking for them, having called together his kinsmen and [his] intimate friends.On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.
Acts 10:25And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. And when Peter was now coming in, Cornelius met him, and falling down did [him] homage.When it happened that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
Acts 10:26But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. But Peter made him rise, saying, Rise up: *I* myself also am a man.But Peter raised him up, saying, "Stand up! I myself am also a man."
Acts 10:27And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together. And he went in, talking with him, and found many gathered together.As he talked with him, he went in, and found many come together.
Acts 10:28And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. And he said to them, *Ye* know how it is unlawful for a Jew to be joined or come to one of a strange race, and to *me* God has shewn to call no man common or unclean.He said to them, "You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn't call any man unholy or unclean.
Acts 10:29Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me? Wherefore also, having been sent for, I came without saying anything against it. I inquire therefore for what reason ye have sent for me.Therefore also I came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?"
Acts 10:30And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, And Cornelius said, Four days ago I had been [fasting] unto this hour, and the ninth [I was] praying in my house, and lo, a man stood before me in bright clothing,Cornelius said, "Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour, and at the ninth hour, I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
Acts 10:31And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God. and said, Cornelius, thy prayer has been heard, and thy alms have come in remembrance before God.and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God.
Acts 10:32Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee. Send therefore to Joppa and fetch Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he lodges in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea [who when he is come will speak to thee].Send therefore to Joppa, and call to you Simon, who is surnamed Peter. He lodges in the house of Simon a tanner, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.'
Acts 10:33Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God. Immediately therefore I sent to thee, and *thou* hast well done in coming. Now therefore *we* are all present before God to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God."
Acts 10:34Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: And Peter opening his mouth said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons,Peter opened his mouth and said, "Truly I perceive that God doesn't show favoritism,
Acts 10:35But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. but in every nation he that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.but in every nation he who fears him, and works righteousness, is acceptable to him.
Acts 10:36The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) The word which he sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ, (*he* is Lord of all things,)The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all):
Acts 10:37That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; *ye* know; the testimony which has spread through the whole of Judaea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism which John preachedthat spoken word you yourselves know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
Acts 10:38How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Jesus who [was] of Nazareth: how God anointed him with [the] Holy Spirit and with power; who went through [all quarters] doing good, and healing all that were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.
Acts 10:39And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: *We* also [are] witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom they also slew, having hanged him on a cross.We are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they also killed, hanging him on a tree.
Acts 10:40Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; This [man] God raised up the third day and gave him to be openly seen,God raised him up the third day, and gave him to be revealed,
Acts 10:41Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. not of all the people, but of witnesses who were chosen before of God, *us* who have eaten and drunk with him after he arose from among [the] dead.not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
Acts 10:42And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that *he* it is who was determinately appointed of God [to be] judge of living and dead.He charged us to preach to the people, and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.
Acts 10:43To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. To him all the prophets bear witness that every one that believes on him will receive through his name remission of sins.All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins."
Acts 10:44While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. While Peter was yet speaking these words the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were hearing the word.While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.
Acts 10:45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. And the faithful of the circumcision were astonished, as many as came with Peter, that upon the nations also the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out:They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.
Acts 10:46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, for they heard them speaking with tongues and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,For they heard them speak with other languages, and magnify God. Then Peter answered,
Acts 10:47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Can any one forbid water that these should not be baptised, who have received the Holy Spirit as we also [did]?"Can any man forbid the water, that these who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we should not be baptized,?"
Acts 10:48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. And he commanded them to be baptised in the name of the Lord. Then they begged him to stay some days.He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.
