Matthew 15:1 | Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, | Then the scribes and Pharisees from Jerusalem come up to Jesus, saying, | Then Pharisees and scribes come to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying, |
Matthew 15:2 | Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. | Why do thy disciples transgress what has been delivered by the ancients? for they do not wash their hands when they eat bread. | "Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don't wash their hands when they eat bread." |
Matthew 15:3 | But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? | But he answering said to them, Why do *ye* also transgress the commandment of God on account of your traditional teaching? | He answered them, "Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition? |
Matthew 15:4 | For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. | For God commanded saying, Honour father and mother; and, He that speaks ill of father or mother, let him die the death. | For God commanded, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.' |
Matthew 15:5 | But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; | But *ye* say, Whosoever shall say to his father or mother, It is a gift, whatsoever [it be] by which [received] from me thou wouldest be profited: | But you say, 'Whoever will tell his father or his mother, "Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God," |
Matthew 15:6 | And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. | and he shall in no wise honour his father or his mother; and ye have made void the commandment of God on account of your traditional teaching. | he will not honor his father or mother.' You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition. |

Matthew 15:8 | This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. | This people honour me with the lips, but their heart is far away from me; | 'These people draw near to me with their mouth, And honor me with their lips; But their heart is far from me. |
Matthew 15:9 | But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. | but in vain do they worship me, teaching [as] teachings commandments of men. | But in vain do they worship me, Teaching as doctrine rules made by men.'" |
Matthew 15:10 | And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: | And having called to [him] the crowd, he said to them, Hear and understand: | He called the multitude to himself, and said to them, "Hear, and understand. |
Matthew 15:11 | Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. | Not what enters into the mouth defiles the man; but what goes forth out of the mouth, this defiles the man. | That which enters into the mouth doesn't defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man." |
Matthew 15:12 | Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? | Then his disciples, coming up, said to him, Dost thou know that the Pharisees, having heard this word, have been offended? | Then the disciples came, and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?" |
Matthew 15:13 | But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. | But he answering said, Every plant which my heavenly Father has not planted shall be rooted up. | But he answered, "Every plant which my heavenly Father didn't plant will be uprooted. |
Matthew 15:14 | Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. | Leave them alone; they are blind leaders of blind: but if blind lead blind, both will fall into a ditch. | Let them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit." |
Matthew 15:15 | Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. | And Peter answering said to him, Expound to us this parable. | Peter answered him, "Explain the parable to us." |
Matthew 15:16 | And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? | But he said, Are *ye* also still without intelligence? | So Jesus said, "Do you also still not understand? |
Matthew 15:17 | Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? | Do ye not yet apprehend, that everything that enters into the mouth finds its way into the belly, and is cast forth into the draught? | Don't you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body? |
Matthew 15:18 | But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. | but the things which go forth out of the mouth come out of the heart, and those defile man. | But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart, and they defile the man. |
Matthew 15:19 | For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: | For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witnessings, blasphemies; | For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies. |
Matthew 15:20 | These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man. | these are the things which defile man; but the eating with unwashen hands does not defile man. | These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn't defile the man." |
Matthew 15:21 | Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. | And Jesus, going forth from thence, went away into the parts of Tyre and Sidon; | Jesus went out from there, and withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon. |
Matthew 15:22 | And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. | and lo, a Canaanitish woman, coming out from those borders, cried [to him] saying, Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is miserably possessed by a demon. | Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David. My daughter is grievously vexed with a demon." |
Matthew 15:23 | But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. | But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came to [him] and asked him, saying, Dismiss her, for she cries after us. | But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away; for she cries after us." |
Matthew 15:24 | But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. | But he answering said, I have not been sent save to the lost sheep of Israel's house. | But he answered, "I wasn't sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel." |
Matthew 15:25 | Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. | But she came and did him homage, saying, Lord, help me. | But she came and worshipped him, saying, "Lord, help me." |
Matthew 15:26 | But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. | But he answering said, It is not well to take the bread of the children and cast it to the dogs. | But he answered, "It is not appropriate to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." |
Matthew 15:27 | And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. | But she said, Yea, Lord; for even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from the table of their masters. | But she said, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." |
Matthew 15:28 | Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. | Then Jesus answering said to her, O woman, thy faith [is] great. Be it to thee as thou desirest. And her daughter was healed from *that* hour. | Then Jesus answered her, "Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that hour. |
Matthew 15:29 | And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. | And Jesus, going away from thence, came towards the sea of Galilee, and he went up into the mountain and sat down there; | Jesus departed there, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there. |
Matthew 15:30 | And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: | and great crowds came to him, having with them lame, blind, dumb, crippled, and many others, and they cast them at his feet, and he healed them: | There came to him great multitudes, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them, |
Matthew 15:31 | Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel. | so that the crowds wondered, seeing dumb speaking, crippled sound, lame walking, and blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel. | so that the multitude wondered, when they saw the mute speaking, the injured whole, lame walking, and the blind seeing and they glorified the God of Israel. |
Matthew 15:32 | Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. | But Jesus, having called his disciples to [him], said, I have compassion on the crowd, because they have stayed with me already three days and they have not anything they can eat, and I would not send them away fasting lest they should faint on the way. | Jesus called his disciples to him, and said, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. Matthew 15:33 | And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude? | And his disciples say to him, Whence should we have so many loaves in [the] wilderness as to satisfy so great a crowd? | The disciples said to him, "Where should we get so many loaves in a desert place as to fill so great a multitude?" |
Matthew 15:34 | And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. | And Jesus says to them, How many loaves have ye?
