Matthew 20:1For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. The kingdom of heaven is like to an householder, who went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.For the kingdom of the heavens is like a householder who went out with the early morn to hire workmen for his vineyard.
Matthew 20:2And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And having agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.And having agreed with the workmen for a denarius the day, he sent them into his vineyard.
Matthew 20:3And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, And going about the third hour, he saw others standing in the market place idle.And having gone out about [the] third hour, he saw others standing in the market-place idle;
Matthew 20:4And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. And he said to them: Go you also into my vineyard, and I will give you what shall be just.and to them he said, Go also ye into the vineyard, and whatsoever may be just I will give you. And they went their way.
Matthew 20:5Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And they went their way. And again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did in like manner.Again, having gone out about the sixth and ninth hour, he did likewise.
Matthew 20:6And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? But about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing, and he saith to them: Why stand you here all the day idle?But about the eleventh [hour], having gone out, he found others standing, and says to them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
Matthew 20:7They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. They say to him: Because no man hath hired us. He saith to them: Go you also into my vineyard.They say to him, Because no man has hired us. He says to them, Go also ye into the vineyard [and whatsoever may be just ye shall receive].
Matthew 20:8So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. And when evening was come, the lord of the vineyard saith to his steward: Call the labourers and pay them their hire, beginning from the last even to the first.But when the evening was come, the lord of the vineyard says to his steward, Call the workmen and pay [them] their wages, beginning from the last even to the first.
Matthew 20:9And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. When therefore they were come, that came about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.And when they [who came to work] about the eleventh hour came, they received each a denarius.
Matthew 20:10But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. But when the first also came, they thought that they should receive more: and they also received every man a penny.And when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more, and they received also themselves each a denarius.
Matthew 20:11And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, And receiving it they murmured against the master of the house,And on receiving it they murmured against the master of the house,
Matthew 20:12Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. Saying: These last have worked but one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, that have borne the burden of the day and the heats.saying, These last have worked one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, who have borne the burden of the day and the heat.
Matthew 20:13But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? But he answering said to one of them: Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst thou not agree with me for a penny?But he answering said to one of them, [My] friend, I do not wrong thee. Didst thou not agree with me for a denarius?
Matthew 20:14Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. Take what is thine, and go thy way: I will also give to this last even as to thee.Take what is thine and go. But it is my will to give to this last even as to thee:
Matthew 20:15Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? Or, is it not lawful for me to do what I will? is thy eye evil, because I am good?is it not lawful for me to do what I will in my own affairs? Is thine eye evil because *I* am good?
Matthew 20:16So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. So shall the last be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.Thus shall the last be first, and the first last; for many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
Matthew 20:17And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, And Jesus going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples apart, and said to them:And Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples with [him] apart in the way, and said to them,
Matthew 20:18Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death.Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be delivered up to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death;
Matthew 20:19And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked, and scourged, and crucified, and the third day he shall rise again.and they will deliver him up to the nations to mock and to scourge and to crucify, and the third day he shall rise again.
Matthew 20:20Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, adoring and asking something of him.Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee, with her sons, doing homage, and asking something of him.
Matthew 20:21And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. Who said to her: What wilt thou? She saith to him: Say that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left, in thy kingdom.And he said to her, What wilt thou? She says to him, Speak [the word] that these my two sons may sit, one on thy right hand and one on thy left in thy kingdom.
Matthew 20:22But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. And Jesus answering, said: You know not what you ask. Can you drink the chalice that I shall drink? They say to him: We can.And Jesus answering said, Ye know not what ye ask. Can ye drink the cup which *I* am about to drink? They say to him, We are able.
Matthew 20:23And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father. He saith to them: My chalice indeed you shall drink; but to sit on my right or left hand, is not mine to give to you, but to them for whom it is prepared by my Father.[And] he says to them, Ye shall drink indeed my cup, but to sit on my right hand and on [my] left, is not mine to give, but to those for whom it is prepared of my Father.
Matthew 20:24And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren. And the ten hearing it, were moved with indignation against the two brethren.And the ten, having heard [of it], were indignant about the two brothers.
Matthew 20:25But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But Jesus called them to him, and said: You know that the princes of the Gentiles lord it over them; and they that are the greater, exercise power upon them.But Jesus having called them to [him], said, Ye know that the rulers of the nations exercise lordship over them, and the great exercise authority over them.
Matthew 20:26But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; It shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be the greater among you, let him be your minister:It shall not be thus amongst you, but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your servant;
Matthew 20:27And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: And he that will be first among you, shall be your servant.and whosoever will be first among you, let him be your bondman;
Matthew 20:28Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Even as the Son of man is not come to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a redemption for many.as indeed the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Matthew 20:29And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. And when they went out from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.And as they went out from Jericho a great crowd followed him.
Matthew 20:30And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. And behold two blind men sitting by the way side, heard that Jesus passed by, and they cried out, saying: O Lord, thou son of David, have mercy on us.And lo, two blind men, sitting by the wayside, having heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out saying, Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David.
Matthew 20:31And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. And the multitude rebuked them that they should hold their peace. But they cried out the more, saying: O Lord, thou son of David, have mercy on us.But the crowd rebuked them, that they might be silent. But they cried out the more, saying, Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David.
Matthew 20:32And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? And Jesus stood, and called them, and said: What will ye that I do to you?And Jesus, having stopped, called them and said, What will ye that I shall do to you?
Matthew 20:33They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. They say to him: Lord, that our eyes be opened.They say to him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
Matthew 20:34So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. And Jesus having compassion on them, touched their eyes. And immediately they saw, and followed him.And Jesus, moved with compassion, touched their eyes; and immediately their eyes had sight restored to them, and they followed him.
