| Luke 18:1 | And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; | He also taught them by a parable that they must always pray and never lose heart. | He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up, |
| Luke 18:2 | Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: | "In a certain town," He said, "there was a judge who had no fear of God and no respect for man. | saying, "A certain judge was in a city, who didn't fear God, and didn't respect man. |
| Luke 18:3 | And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. | And in the same town was a widow who repeatedly came and entreated him, saying, "`Give me justice and stop my oppressor.' | A widow was in that city, and she came often to him, saying, 'Defend me from my adversary!' |

| Luke 18:5 | Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. | yet because she annoys me I will give her justice, to prevent her from constantly coming to pester me.'" | yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.'" |
