Matthew 16:1 | The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. | The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing him, asked him to show them a sign from heaven. | And there came to him the Pharisees and Sadduccees tempting: and they asked him to shew them a sign from heaven. |
Matthew 16:2 | He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. | But he answered them, "When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.' | But he answered and said to them: When it is evening, you say, It will be fair weather, for the sky is red. |
Matthew 16:3 | And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? | In the morning, 'It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.' Hypocrites! You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but you can't discern the signs of the times. | And in the morning: To day there will be a storm, for the sky is red and lowering. You know then how to discern the face of the sky: and can you not know the signs of the times? |
Matthew 16:4 | A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas.
