Matthew 22:2The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,The kingdom of heaven is likened to a king, who made a marriage for his son.
Matthew 22:3And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. and sent forth his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.And he sent his servants, to call them that were invited to the marriage; and they would not come.
Matthew 22:4Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. Again he sent forth other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Behold, I have made ready my dinner. My oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast."'Again he sent other servants, saying: Tell them that were invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my beeves and fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come ye to the marriage.
Matthew 22:5But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,But they neglected, and went their own ways, one to his farm, and another to his merchandise.
Matthew 22:6And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.And the rest laid hands on his servants, and having treated them contumeliously, put them to death.
Matthew 22:7But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. But the king was angry, and he sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.But when the king had heard of it, he was angry, and sending his armies, he destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city.
Matthew 22:8Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but they who were invited were not worthy.Then he saith to his servants: The marriage indeed is ready; but they that were invited were not worthy.
Matthew 22:9Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.'Go ye therefore into the highways; and as many as you shall find, call to the marriage.
Matthew 22:10So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. Matthew 22:11And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn't have on wedding-clothing,And the king went in to see the guests: and he saw there a man who had not on a wedding garment.
Matthew 22:12And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here not having wedding-clothing?' He was speechless.And he saith to him: Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? But he was silent.
Matthew 22:13Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.'Then the king said to the waiters: Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the exterior darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 22:14For many are called, but few are chosen. For many are called, but few chosen."For many are called, but few are chosen.
Matthew 22:15Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk. Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.Then the Pharisees going, consulted among themselves how to insnare him in his speech.
Matthew 22:16And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter who you teach, for you aren't partial to anyone.And they sent to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying: Master, we know that thou art a true speaker, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou dost not regard the person of men.
Matthew 22:17Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"Tell us therefore what dost thou think, is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
Matthew 22:18But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, "Why do you test me, you hypocrites?But Jesus knowing their wickedness, said: Why do you tempt me, ye hypocrites?
Matthew 22:19Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. Show me the tax money." They brought to him a denarius.Shew me the coin of the tribute. And they offered him a penny.
Matthew 22:20And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? He asked them, "Whose is this image and inscription?"And Jesus saith to them: Whose image and inscription is this?
Matthew 22:21They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. They said to him, "Caesar's." Then he said to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."They say to him: Caesar's. Then he saith to them: Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God, the things that are God's.
Matthew 22:22When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way. When they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went away.And hearing this they wondered, and leaving him, went their ways.
Matthew 22:23The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him, On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,That day there came to him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and asked him,
Matthew 22:24Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. saying, "Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies, having no children, his brother will marry his wife, and raise up seed for his brother.'Saying: Master, Moses said: If a man die having no son, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up issue to his brother.
Matthew 22:25Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother.Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first having married a wife, died; and not having issue, left his wife to his brother.
Matthew 22:26Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. In like manner the second also, and the third, to the seventh.In like manner the second, and the third, and so on to the seventh.
Matthew 22:27And last of all the woman died also. After them all, the woman died.And last of all the woman died also.
Matthew 22:28Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her."At the resurrection therefore whose wife of the seven shall she be? for they all had her.
Matthew 22:29Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. But Jesus answered them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.And Jesus answering, said to them: You err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.
Matthew 22:30For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like God's angels in heaven.For in the resurrection they shall neither marry nor be married; but shall be as the angels of God in heaven.
Matthew 22:31But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven't you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,And concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken by God, saying to you:
Matthew 22:32I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?' God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
Matthew 22:33And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine. When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.And the multitudes hearing it, were in admiration at his doctrine.
Matthew 22:34But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, gathered themselves together.But the Pharisees hearing that he had silenced the Sadducees, came together:
Matthew 22:35Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.And one of them, a doctor of the law, asking him, tempting him:
Matthew 22:36Master, which is the great commandment in the law? "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?"Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law?
Matthew 22:37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind.
Matthew 22:38This is the first and great commandment. This is the first and great commandment.This is the greatest and the first commandment.
Matthew 22:39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. A second likewise is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
Matthew 22:40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."On these two commandments dependeth the whole law and the prophets.
Matthew 22:41While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,And the Pharisees being gathered together, Jesus asked them,
Matthew 22:42Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. saying, "What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?" They said to him, "Of David."Saying: What think you of Christ? whose son is he? They say to him: David's.
Matthew 22:43He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,He saith to them: How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying:
Matthew 22:44The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? 'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand, Until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool?
Matthew 22:45If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? "If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?"If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
Matthew 22:46And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions. No one was able to answer him a word, neither dared any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.And no man was able to answer him a word; neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
