3rd-John 1:1The elder to the well-beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth.The elder unto Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truth. The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth.
3rd-John 1:2Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.Beloved, I pray that in all things thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Beloved, I desire that in all things thou shouldest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.
3rd-John 1:3For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.For I rejoiced greatly, when brethren came and bare witness unto thy truth, even as thou walkest in truth. For I rejoiced exceedingly when [the] brethren came and bore testimony to thy [holding fast the] truth, even as *thou* walkest in truth.
3rd-John 1:4I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.Greater joy have I none than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth. I have no greater joy than these things that I hear of my children walking in the truth.
3rd-John 1:5Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;Beloved, thou doest a faithful work in whatsoever thou doest toward them that are brethren and strangers withal; Beloved, thou doest faithfully [in] whatever thou mayest have wrought towards the brethren and that strangers,
3rd-John 1:6Who have borne testimony of thy charity before the church: whom if thou shalt bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou wilt do well:who bare witness to thy love before the church: whom thou wilt do well to set forward on their journey worthily of God: (who have witnessed of thy love before [the] assembly,) in setting forward whom on their journey worthily of God, thou wilt do well;
3rd-John 1:7Because for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing from the Gentiles.because that for the sake of the Name they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. for for the name have they gone forth, taking nothing of those of the nations.
3rd-John 1:8We therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow-helpers to the truth.We therefore ought to welcome such, that we may be fellow-workers for the truth. *We* therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow-workers with the truth.
3rd-John 1:9I wrote to the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the pre-eminence among them, receiveth us not.I wrote somewhat unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. I wrote something to the assembly; but Diotrephes, who loves to have the first place among them, receives us not.
3rd-John 1:10Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content with that, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.Therefore, if I come, I will bring to remembrance his works which he doeth, prating against us with wicked words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and them that would he forbiddeth and casteth [them] out of the church. For this reason, if I come, I will bring to remembrance his works which he does, babbling against us with wicked words; and not content with these, neither does he himself receive the brethren; and those who would he prevents, and casts [them] out of the assembly.
3rd-John 1:11Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.Beloved, imitate not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: he that doeth evil hath not seen God. Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He that does good is of God. He that does evil has not seen God.
3rd-John 1:12Demetrius hath good report by all men, and by the truth itself: and we also bear testimony; and ye know that our testimony is true.Demetrius hath the witness of all [men], and of the truth itself: yea, we also bear witness: and thou knowest that our witness is true. Demetrius has witness borne to him by all, and by the truth itself; and *we* also bear witness, and thou knowest that our witness is true.
3rd-John 1:13I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write to thee:I had many things to write unto thee, but I am unwilling to write [them] to thee with ink and pen: I had many things to write to thee, but I will not with ink and pen write to thee;
3rd-John 1:14But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face.but I hope shortly to see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace [be] unto thee. The friends salute thee. Salute the friends by name. but I hope soon to see thee, and we will speak mouth to mouth.
3rd-John 1:15Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.Peace [be] to thee. The friends greet thee. Greet the friends by name.
