Titus 3:1 | Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, | Make clear to them that they are to put themselves under rulers and authorities, to do what they are ordered, to be ready for every good work, | Put them in mind to be in subjection to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready unto every good work, |
Titus 3:2 | To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, showing all meekness to all men. | To say no evil of any man, not to be fighters, to give way to others, to be gentle in behaviour to all men. | to speak evil of no man, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all meekness toward all men. |
Titus 3:3 | For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. | For in the past we were foolish, hard in heart, turned from the true way, servants of evil desires and pleasures, living in bad feeling and envy, hated and hating one another. | For we also once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. |
Titus 3:4 | But when the kindness and love of God our Savior towards man appeared, | But when the mercy of God our Saviour, and his love to man was seen, | But when the kindness of God our Saviour, and his love toward man, appeared, |
Titus 3:5 | Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; | Not by works of righteousness which we did ourselves, but in the measure of his mercy, he gave us salvation, through the washing of the new birth and the giving of new life in the Holy Spirit, | not by works [done] in righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, |
Titus 3:6 | Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; | Which he gave us freely through Jesus Christ our Saviour; | which he poured out upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour; |
Titus 3:7 | That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. | So that, having been given righteousness through grace, we might have a part in the heritage, the hope of eternal life. | that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. |
Titus 3:8 | This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they who have believed in God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. | This is a true saying; and it is my desire that you may give certain witness about these things, so that those who have had faith in God may give attention to good works. These things are good and of profit to men; | Faithful is the saying, and concerning these things I desire that thou affirm confidently, to the end that they who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men: |
Titus 3:9 | But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. | But have nothing to do with foolish questionings, and lists of generations, and fights and arguments about the law; for they are of no profit and foolish. | but shun foolish questionings, and genealogies, and strifes, and fightings about law; for they are unprofitable and vain. |
Titus 3:10 | A man that is a heretic, after the first and second admonition, reject; | A man whose opinions are not those of the church, after a first and second protest, is to be kept out of your society; | A factious man after a first and second admonition refuse; |
Titus 3:11 | Knowing that he who is such, is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned by himself. | Clearly he is in error and a sinner, being self-judged. | knowing that such a one is perverted, and sinneth, being self-condemned. |
Titus 3:12 | When I shall send Artemas to thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter. | When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis: for it is my purpose to be there for the winter. | When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, give diligence to come unto me to Nicopolis: for there I have determined to winter. |
Titus 3:13 | Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing may be wanting to them. | Send Zenas, the man of law, and Apollos on their journey with all care, so that they may be in need of nothing. | Set forward Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them. |
Titus 3:14 | And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they may not be unfruitful. | And let our people go on with good works for necessary purposes, so that they may not be without fruit. | And let our [people] also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. |
Titus 3:15 | All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen. | All who are with me send you their love. Give our love to our friends in the faith. Grace be with you all. | All that are with me salute thee. Salute them that love us in faith. Grace be with you all. |
