| Matthew 17:1 | And after six days, Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them upon a high mountain apart. | And after six days Jesus takes with him Peter, and James, and John, his brother, and makes them go up with him into a high mountain by themselves. | Six day later, Jesus took with Him Peter and the brothers James and John, and brought them up a high mountain to a solitary place. |
| Matthew 17:2 | And he was transfigured before them: and his face shone as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. | And he was changed in form before them; and his face was shining like the sun, and his clothing became white as light. | There in their presence His form underwent a change; His face shone like the sun, and His raiment became as white as the light. |

Listen to Him." |

"Tell no one," He said, "of the sight you have seen till the Son of Man has risen from among the dead." |
| Matthew 17:10 | And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes, that Elijah must first come? | And his disciples, questioning him, said, Why then do the scribes say that Elijah has to come first? | "Why then," asked the disciples, "do the Scribes say that Elijah must first come?" |
| Matthew 17:11 | And Jesus answered and said to them, Elijah truly will first come, and restore all things: | And in answer he said, Elijah truly has to come and put all things right: | "Elijah was indeed to come," He replied, "and would reform everything. |
| Matthew 17:12 | But I say to you, that Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but have done to him whatever they pleased: likewise will also the Son of man suffer by them. | But I say to you that Elijah has come, and they had no knowledge of him, but did to him whatever they were pleased to do; the same will the Son of man undergo at their hands. | But I tell you that he has already come, and they did not recognize him, but dealt with him as they chose. And before long the Son of Man will be treated by them in a similar way." |

| Matthew 17:15 | Lord, have mercy on my son; for he is lunatic, and grievously distressed; for often he falleth into the fire, and often into the water. | Lord have mercy on my son: for he is off his head, and is in great pain; and frequently he goes falling into the fire, and frequently into the water. | "Sir," he said, "have pity on my son, for he is an epileptic and is very ill. Often he falls into the fire and often into the water. |
| Matthew 17:16 | And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. | And I took him to your disciples, and they were not able to make him well. | I have brought him to your disciples, and they have not been able to cure him." |
| Matthew 17:17 | Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. | And Jesus, answering, said, O false and foolish generation, how long will I be with you? how long will I put up with you? let him come here to me. | "O unbelieving and perverse generation!" replied Jesus; "how long shall I be with you? how long shall I endure you? Bring him to me." |
| Matthew 17:18 | And Jesus rebuked the demon, and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. | And Jesus gave orders to the unclean spirit, and it went out of him: and the boy was made well from that hour. | Then Jesus reprimanded the demon, and it came out and left him; and the boy was cured from that moment. |
| Matthew 17:19 | Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? | Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, Why were we not able to send it out? | Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and asked Him, "Why could not we expel the demon?" |
| Matthew 17:20 | And Jesus said to them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say to you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard-seed, ye shall say to this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you. | And he says to them, Because of your little faith: for truly I say to you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Be moved from this place to that; and it will be moved; and nothing will be impossible to you. | "Because your faith is so small," He replied; "for I solemnly declare to you that if you have faith like a mustard-seed, you shall say to this mountain, `Remove from this place to that,' and it will remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you. |

And when he had come into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? from whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? from their own children, or from strangers? | He says, Yes. And when he came into the house, Jesus said to him, What is your opinion, Simon? from whom do the kings of the earth get payment or tax? from their sons or from other people? | "Yes," he replied, and then went into the house. But before he spoke a word Jesus said, "What think you, Simon? From whom do this world's kings receive customs or capitation tax? from their own children, or from others?" |
