Matthew 13:1The same day Jesus went out of the house, and sat by the sea side.And that [same] day Jesus went out from the house and sat down by the sea.On that day Jesus went out of the house and was seated by the seaside.
Matthew 13:2And great multitudes were gathered to him, so that he went into a boat, and sat down; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.And great crowds were gathered together to him, so that going on board ship himself he sat down, and the whole crowd stood on the shore.And great numbers of people came together to him, so that he got into a boat; and the people took up their position by the sea.
Matthew 13:3And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went out to sow:And he gave them teaching in the form of a story, saying, A man went out to put seed in the earth;
Matthew 13:4And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them:and as he sowed, some [grains] fell along the way, and the birds came and devoured them;And while he did so, some seeds were dropped by the wayside, and the birds came and took them for food:
Matthew 13:5Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:and others fell upon the rocky places where they had not much earth, and immediately they sprang up out of [the ground] because of not having [any] depth of earth,And some of the seed went among the stones, where it had not much earth, and straight away it came up because the earth was not deep:
Matthew 13:6And when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had not root, they withered.but when the sun rose they were burned up, and because of not having [any] root were dried up;And when the sun was high, it was burned; and because it had no root it became dry and dead.
Matthew 13:7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:and others fell upon the thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them;And some seeds went among thorns, and the thorns came up and they had no room for growth:
Matthew 13:8But others fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some a hundred-fold, some sixty-fold, some thirty-fold.and others fell upon the good ground, and produced fruit, one a hundred, one sixty, and one thirty.And some, falling on good earth, gave fruit, some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty times as much.
Matthew 13:9Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.He that has ears, let him hear.He who has ears, let him give ear.
Matthew 13:10And the disciples came, and said to him, Why speakest thou to them in parables?And the disciples came up and said to him, Why speakest thou to them in parables?And the disciples came and said to him, Why do you say things to them in the form of stories?
Matthew 13:11He answered and said to them, Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.And he answering said to them, Because to you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of the heavens, but to them it is not given;And he said to them in answer, To you is given the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
Matthew 13:12For whoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he hath.for whoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall be caused to be in abundance; but he who has not, even what he has shall be taken away from him.Because whoever has, to him will be given, and he will have more; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
Matthew 13:13Therefore I speak to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.For this cause I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear nor understand;For this reason I put things into the form of stories; because they see without seeing, and give ear without hearing, and the sense is not clear to them.
Matthew 13:14And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:and in them is filled up the prophecy of Esaias, which says, Hearing ye shall hear and shall not understand, and beholding ye shall behold and not see;And for them the words of Isaiah have come true, Though you give ear, you will not get knowledge; and seeing, you will see, but the sense will not be clear to you:
Matthew 13:15For this people's heart is become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.for the heart of this people has grown fat, and they have heard heavily with their ears, and they have closed their eyes as asleep, lest they should see with the eyes, and hear with the ears, and understand with the heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.For the heart of this people has become fat and their ears are slow in hearing and their eyes are shut; for fear that they might see with their eyes and give hearing with their ears and become wise in their hearts and be turned again to me, so that I might make them well.
Matthew 13:16But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.But blessed are *your* eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear;But a blessing be on your eyes, because they see; and on your ears, because they are open.
Matthew 13:17For verily I say to you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see the things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear the things which ye hear, and have not heard them.for verily I say unto you, that many prophets and righteous [men] have desired to see the things which ye behold and did not see [them], and to hear the things which ye hear and did not hear [them].For truly, I say to you that prophets and upright men had a desire to see the things which you see, and saw them not; and to have knowledge of the words which have come to your ears, and they had it not.
Matthew 13:18Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.*Ye*, therefore, hear the parable of the sower.Give ear, then, to the story of the man who put the seed in the earth.
Matthew 13:19When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the way side.From every one who hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand [it], the wicked one comes and catches away what was sown in his heart: this is he that is sown by the wayside.When the word of the kingdom comes to anyone, and the sense of it is not clear to him, then the Evil One comes, and quickly takes away that which was put in his heart. He is the seed dropped by the wayside.
Matthew 13:20But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and immediately with joy receiveth it;But he that is sown on the rocky places this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy,And that which went on the stones, this is he who, hearing the word, straight away takes it with joy;
Matthew 13:21Yet he hath not root in himself, but endureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, forthwith he is offended.but has no root in himself, but is for a time only; and when tribulation or persecution happens on account of the word, he is immediately offended.But having no root in himself, he goes on for a time; and when trouble comes or pain, because of the word, he quickly becomes full of doubts.
Matthew 13:22He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.And he that is sown among the thorns this is he who hears the word, and the anxious care of this life, and the deceit of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.And that which was dropped among the thorns, this is he who has the word; and the cares of this life, and the deceits of wealth, put a stop to the growth of the word and it gives no fruit.
Matthew 13:23But he that receiveth seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some a hundred fold, some sixty, some thirty.But he that is sown upon the good ground this is he who hears and understands the word, who bears fruit also, and produces, one a hundred, one sixty, and one thirty.And the seed which was put in good earth, this is he who gives ear to the word, and gets the sense of it; who gives fruit, some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty times as much.
Matthew 13:24Another parable he proposed to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field:Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens has become like a man sowing good seed in his field;And he gave them another story, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a man who put good seed in his field:
Matthew 13:25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and departed.but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed darnel amongst the wheat, and went away.But while men were sleeping, one who had hate for him came and put evil seeds among the grain, and went away.
Matthew 13:26But when the blade had sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.But when the blade shot up and produced fruit, then appeared the darnel also.But when the green stem came up and gave fruit, the evil plants were seen at the same time.
Matthew 13:27So the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?And the bondmen of the householder came up and said to him, Sir, hast thou not sown good seed in thy field? whence then has it darnel?And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, Sir, did you not put good seed in your field? how then has it evil plants?
Matthew 13:28He said to them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said to him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them?And he said to them, A man [that is] an enemy has done this. And the bondmen said to him, Wilt thou then that we should go and gather it [up]?And he said, Someone has done this in hate. And the servants say to him, Is it your pleasure that we go and take them up?
Matthew 13:29But he said, No; lest while ye gather the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.But he said, No; lest [in] gathering the darnel ye should root up the wheat with it.But he says, No, for fear that by chance while you take up the evil plants, you may be rooting up the grain with them.
Matthew 13:30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.Suffer both to grow together unto the harvest, and in time of the harvest I will say to the harvestmen, Gather first the darnel, and bind it into bundles to burn it; but the wheat bring together into my granary.Let them come up together till the getting in of the grain; and then I will say to the workers, Take up first the evil plants, and put them together for burning: but put the grain into my store-house.
Matthew 13:31Another parable he proposed to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard-seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens is like a grain of mustard [seed] which a man took and sowed in his field;He put another story before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and put in his field:
Matthew 13:32Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge on its branches.which is less indeed than all seeds, but when it is grown is greater than herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of heaven come and roost in its branches.Which is smaller than all seeds; but when it has come up it is greater than the plants, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of heaven come and make their resting-places in its branches.
Matthew 13:33Another parable he spoke to them; The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.He spoke another parable to them: The kingdom of the heavens is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until it had been all leavened.Another story he gave to them: The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took, and put in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened.
Matthew 13:34All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable he spoke not to them:All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and without a parable he did not speak to them,All these things Jesus said to the people in the form of stories; and without a story he said nothing to them:
Matthew 13:35That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.so that that should be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from [the] world's foundation.That it might come true which was said by the prophet, Opening my mouth, I will give out stories; I will give knowledge of things kept secret from before all time.
Matthew 13:36Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came to him, saying, Declare to us the parable of the tares of the field.Then, having dismissed the crowds, he went into the house; and his disciples came to him, saying, Expound to us the parable of the darnel of the field.Then he went away from the people, and went into the house; and his disciples came to him, saying, Make clear to us the story of the evil plants in the field.
Matthew 13:37He answered and said to them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;But he answering said, He that sows the good seed is the Son of man,And he made answer and said, He who puts the good seed in the earth is the Son of man;
Matthew 13:38The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom, but the darnel are the sons of the evil [one];And the field is the world; and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom; and the evil seeds are the sons of the Evil One;
Matthew 13:39The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.and the enemy who has sowed it is the devil; and the harvest is [the] completion of [the] age, and the harvestmen are angels.And he who put them in the earth is Satan; and the getting in of the grain is the end of the world; and those who get it in are the angels.
Matthew 13:40As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.As then the darnel is gathered and is burned in the fire, thus it shall be in the completion of the age.As then the evil plants are got together and burned with fire, so will it be in the end of the world.
Matthew 13:41The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them who do iniquity;The Son of man shall send his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all offences, and those that practise lawlessness;The Son of man will send out his angels, and they will take out of his kingdom everything which is a cause of error, and all those who do wrong,
Matthew 13:42And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.and they shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.And will put them into the fire; there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.
Matthew 13:43Then shall the righteous shine as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.Then the righteous shall shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that has ears, let him hear.Then will the upright be shining as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him give ear.
Matthew 13:44Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hid in a field; which, when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.The kingdom of the heavens is like a treasure hid in the field, which a man having found has hid, and for the joy of it goes and sells all whatever he has, and buys that field.The kingdom of heaven is like a secret store of wealth in a field, which a man came across and put back again; and in his joy he goes and gives all he has, to get that field.
Matthew 13:45Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking goodly pearls:Again, the kingdom of the heavens is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls;Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a trader searching for beautiful jewels.
Matthew 13:46Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.and having found one pearl of great value, he went and sold all whatever he had and bought it.And having come across one jewel of great price, he went and gave all he had in exchange for it.
Matthew 13:47Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:Again, the kingdom of the heavens is like a seine which has been cast into the sea, and which has gathered together of every kind,Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net, which was put into the sea and took in every sort of fish:
Matthew 13:48Which, when it was full, they drew to the shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast away the bad.which, when it has been filled, having drawn up on the shore and sat down, they gathered the good into vessels and cast the worthless out.When it was full, they took it up on the sands; and seated there they put the good into vessels, but the bad they put away.
Matthew 13:49So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,Thus shall it be in the completion of the age: the angels shall go forth and sever the wicked from the midst of the just,So will it be in the end of the world: the angels will come and take out the bad from the good,
Matthew 13:50And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.And will put them into the fire: there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.
Matthew 13:51Jesus saith to them, Have ye understood all these things? They say to him, Yes, Lord.Jesus says to them, Have ye understood all these things? They say to him, Yea, [Lord].Are all these things now clear to you? They say to him, Yes.
Matthew 13:52Then said he to them, Therefore every scribe who is instructed to the kingdom of heaven, is like a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.And he said to them, For this reason every scribe discipled to the kingdom of the heavens is like a man [that is] a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old.And he said to them, For this reason every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house, who gives out from his store things new and old.
Matthew 13:53And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.And it came to pass when Jesus had finished these parables he withdrew thence.And when Jesus had come to the end of these stories he went away from there.
Matthew 13:54And when he had come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?And having come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Whence has this [man] this wisdom and these works of power?And coming into his country, he gave them teaching in their Synagogue, so that they were greatly surprised and said, Where did this man get this wisdom and these works of power?
Matthew 13:55Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?Is not this the son of the carpenter? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?Is not this the woodworker's son? is not his mother named Mary? and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?
Matthew 13:56And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then has this [man] all these things?And his sisters, are they not all with us? from where, then, has he all these things?
Matthew 13:57And they were offended in him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and in his own house.And they were offended in him. And Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honour, unless in his country and in his house.And they were bitter against him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is nowhere without honour but in his country and among his family.
Matthew 13:58And he did not many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.And he did not there many works of power, because of their unbelief.And the works of power which he did there were small in number because they had no faith.
