Habakkuk 1:1The burden which Habakkuk the prophet saw.The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.The burden that Habacuc the prophet saw.
Habakkuk 1:2O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out to thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!Jehovah, how long shall I cry and thou wilt not hear? I cry out unto thee, Violence! and thou dost not save. How long, O Lord, shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear? shall I cry out to thee suffering violence, and thou wilt not save?
Habakkuk 1:3Why dost thou show me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for devastation and violence are before me: and there are that raise strife and contention. Why dost thou cause me to see iniquity, and lookest thou upon grievance? For spoiling and violence are before me; and there is strife, and contention riseth up.Why hast thou shewn me iniquity and grievance, to see rapine and injustice before me? and there is a judgment, but opposition is more powerful.
Habakkuk 1:4Therefore the law is slackened, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth encompass the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. Therefore the law is powerless, and justice doth never go forth; for the wicked encompasseth the righteous; therefore judgment goeth forth perverted. Therefore the law is torn in pieces, and judgment cometh not to the end: because the wicked prevaileth against the just, therefore wrong judgment goeth forth.
Habakkuk 1:5Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvelously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe though it be told you.See ye among the nations, and behold, and wonder marvellously; for [I] work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be declared [to you].Behold ye among the nations, and see: wonder, and be astonished: for a work is done in your days, which no man will believe when it shall be told.
Habakkuk 1:6For lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwelling-places that are not theirs. For behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and impetuous nation, which marcheth through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling-places that are not theirs. For behold, I will raise up the Chaldeans, a bitter and swift nation, marching upon the breadth of the earth, to possess the dwelling places that are not their own.
Habakkuk 1:7They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed from themselves. They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves. They are dreadful, and terrible: from themselves shall their judgment, and their burden proceed.
Habakkuk 1:8Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat.And their horses are swifter than the leopards, and are more agile than the evening wolves; and their horsemen prance proudly, and their horsemen come from afar: they fly as an eagle that hasteth to devour.Their horses are lighter than leopards, and swifter than evening wolves; and their horsemen shall be spread abroad: for their horsemen shall come from afar, they shall fly as an eagle that maketh haste to eat.
Habakkuk 1:9They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand. They come all of them for violence: the crowd of their faces is forwards, and they gather captives as the sand. They shall all come to the prey, their face is like a burning wind: and they shall gather together captives as the sand.
Habakkuk 1:10And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn to them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.Yea, he scoffeth at kings, and princes are a scorn unto him; he derideth every stronghold: for he heapeth up dust, and taketh it.And their prince shall triumph over kings, and princes shall be his laughingstock: and he shall laugh at every strong hold, and shall cast up a mount, and shall take it.
Habakkuk 1:11Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power to his god. Then will his mind change, and he will pass on, and become guilty: this his power is become his +god. Then shall his spirit be changed, and he shall pass, and fall: this is his strength of his god.
Habakkuk 1:12Art thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.Art thou not from everlasting, Jehovah my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. Jehovah, thou hast ordained him for judgment; and thou, O Rock, hast appointed him for correction.Wast thou not from the beginning, O Lord my God, my holy one, and we shall not die? Lord, thou hast appointed him for judgment: and made him strong for correction.
Habakkuk 1:13Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: why lookest thou on them that deal treacherously, and keepest silence when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?[Thou art] of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on mischief: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, [and] keepest silence when the wicked swalloweth up a [man] more righteous than he?Thy eyes are too pure to behold evil, and thou canst not look on iniquity. Why lookest thou upon them that do unjust things, and holdest thy peace when the wicked devoureth the man that is more just than himself?
Habakkuk 1:14And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping animals that have no ruler over them? And thou makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them. And thou wilt make men as the fishes of the sea, and as the creeping things that have no ruler.
Habakkuk 1:15They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad.He taketh up all of them with the hook, he catcheth them in his net, and gathereth them into his drag; therefore he rejoiceth and is glad:He lifted up all them with his hook, he drew them in his drag, and gathered them into his net: for this he will be glad and rejoice.
Habakkuk 1:16Therefore they sacrifice to their net, and burn incense to their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their food plenteous.therefore he sacrificeth unto his net, and burneth incense unto his drag; for by them his portion is become fat, and his meat dainty. Therefore will he offer victims to his drag, and he will sacrifice to his net: because through them his portion is made fat, and his meat dainty.
Habakkuk 1:17Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?Shall he therefore empty his net, and not spare to slay the nations continually? For this cause therefore he spreadeth his net, and will not spare continually to slay the nations.
