Matthew 18:1 | At the same time came the disciples to Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? | In that hour the disciples came to Jesus saying, Who then is greatest in the kingdom of the heavens? | At that hour the disciples came to Jesus, saying: Who thinkest thou is the greater in the kingdom of heaven? |
Matthew 18:2 | And Jesus called a little child to him, and set him in the midst of them, | And Jesus having called a little child to [him], set it in their midst, | And Jesus calling unto him a little child, set him in the midst of them, |
Matthew 18:3 | And said, Verily I say to you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. | and said, Verily I say to you, Unless ye are converted and become as little children, ye will not at all enter into the kingdom of the heavens. | And said: Amen I say to you, unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. |
Matthew 18:4 | Whoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. | Whoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, *he* is the greatest in the kingdom of the heavens; | Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, he is the greater in the kingdom of heaven. |
Matthew 18:5 | And whoever shall receive one such little child in my name, receiveth me. | and whosoever shall receive one such little child in my name, receives me. | And he that shall receive one such little child in my name, receiveth me. |
Matthew 18:6 | But whoever shall cause one of these little ones who believe in me, to sin, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. | But whosoever shall offend one of these little ones who believe in me, it were profitable for him that a great millstone had been hanged upon his neck and he be sunk in the depths of the sea. | But he that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea. |
Matthew 18:7 | Woe to the world because of offenses! for it must needs be that offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh! | Woe to the world because of offences! For it must needs be that offences come; yet woe to that man by whom the offence comes! | Woe to the world because of scandals. For it must needs be that scandals come: but nevertheless woe to that man by whom the scandal cometh. |
Matthew 18:8 | Wherefore, if thy hand or thy foot causeth thee to sin, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into everlasting fire. | And if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut it off and cast [it] from thee; it is good for thee to enter into life lame or maimed, [rather] than having two hands or two feet to be cast into eternal fire. | And if thy hand, or thy foot scandalize thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee. It is better for thee to go into life maimed or lame, than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into everlasting fire. |
Matthew 18:9 | And if thy eye causeth thee to sin, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell-fire. | And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out and cast [it] from thee; it is good for thee to enter into life one-eyed, [rather] than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire. | And if thy eye scandalize thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee. It is better for thee having one eye to enter into life, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. |
Matthew 18:10 | Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones: for I say to you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven. | See that ye do not despise one of these little ones; for I say unto you that their angels in [the] heavens continually behold the face of my Father who is in [the] heavens. | See that you despise not one of these little ones: for I say to you, that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. |
Matthew 18:11 | For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. | For the Son of man has come to save that which was lost. | For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. |
Matthew 18:12 | How think ye? if a man hath a hundred sheep, and one of them is gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and go to the mountains, and seek that which is gone astray? | What think ye? If a certain man should have a hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, does he not, leaving the ninety and nine on the mountains, go and seek the one that has gone astray? | What think you? If a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them should go astray: doth he not leave the ninety-nine in the mountains, and go to seek that which is gone astray? |
Matthew 18:13 | And if he findeth it, verily I say to you, he rejoiceth more over that sheep, than over the ninety and nine which went not astray. | And if it should come to pass that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoices more because of it than because of the ninety and nine not gone astray. | And if it so be that he find it: Amen I say to you, he rejoiceth more for that, than for the ninety-nine that went not astray. |
Matthew 18:14 | Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. | So it is not the will of your Father who is in [the] heavens that one of these little ones should perish. | Even so it is not the will of your Father, who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. |
Matthew 18:15 | Moreover, if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. | But if thy brother sin against thee, go, reprove him between thee and him alone. If he hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. | But if thy brother shall offend against thee, go, and rebuke him between thee and him alone. If he shall hear thee, thou shalt gain thy brother. |
Matthew 18:16 | But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. | But if he do not hear [thee], take with thee one or two besides, that every matter may stand upon the word of two witnesses or of three. | And if he will not hear thee, take with thee one or two more: that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may stand. |
Matthew 18:17 | And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it to the church: but if he shall neglect to hear the church, let him be to thee as a heathen and a publican. | But if he will not listen to them, tell it to the assembly; and if also he will not listen to the assembly, let him be to thee as one of the nations and a tax-gatherer. | And if he will not hear them: tell the church. And if he will not hear the church, let him be to thee as the heathen and publican. |
Matthew 18:18 | Verily I say to you, Whatever ye shall bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven: and whatever ye shall loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven. | Verily I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on the earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever ye shall loose on the earth shall be loosed in heaven. | Amen I say to you, whatsoever you shall bind upon earth, shall be bound also in heaven; and whatsoever you shall loose upon earth, shall be loosed also in heaven. |
Matthew 18:19 | Again I say to you, That if two of you shall agree on earth, concerning any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. | Again I say to you, that if two of you shall agree on the earth concerning any matter, whatsoever it may be that they shall ask, it shall come to them from my Father who is in [the] heavens. | Again I say to you, that if two of you shall consent upon earth, concerning any thing whatsoever they shall ask, it shall be done to them by my Father who is in heaven. |
Matthew 18:20 | For where two or three are assembled in my name, there am I in the midst of them. | For where two or three are gathered together unto my name, there am I in the midst of them. | For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. |
Matthew 18:21 | Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? | Then Peter came to him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? until seven times? | Then came Peter unto him and said: Lord, how often shall my brother offend against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? |
Matthew 18:22 | Jesus saith to him, I say not to thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. | Jesus says to him, I say not to thee until seven times, but until seventy times seven. | Jesus saith to him: I say not to thee, till seven times; but till seventy times seven times. |
Matthew 18:23 | Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened to a certain king who would take account of his servants. | For this cause the kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who would reckon with his bondmen. | Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened to a king, who would take an account of his servants. |
Matthew 18:24 | And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. | And having begun to reckon, one debtor of ten thousand talents was brought to him. | And when he had begun to take the account, one was brought to him, that owed him ten thousand talents. |
Matthew 18:25 | But as he had not ability to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. | But he not having anything to pay, [his] lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and his children, and everything that he had, and that payment should be made. | And as he had not wherewith to pay it, his lord commanded that he should be sold, and his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. |
Matthew 18:26 | The servant therefore fell down, and worshiped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. | The bondman therefore falling down did him homage, saying, Lord, have patience with me and I will pay thee all. | But that servant falling down, besought him, saying: Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. |
Matthew 18:27 | Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. | And the lord of that bondman, being moved with compassion, loosed him and forgave him the loan. | And the lord of that servant being moved with pity, let him go and forgave him the debt. |
Matthew 18:28 | But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me what thou owest. | But that bondman having gone out, found one of his fellow-bondmen who owed him a hundred denarii. And having seized him, he throttled him, saying, Pay [me] if thou owest anything. | But when that servant was gone out, he found one of his fellow servants that owed him an hundred pence: and laying hold of him, throttled him, saying: Pay what thou owest. |
Matthew 18:29 | And his fellow-servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. | His fellow-bondman therefore, having fallen down [at his feet], besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee. | And his fellow servant falling down, besought him, saying: Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. |
Matthew 18:30 | And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. | But he would not, but went away and cast him into prison, until he should pay what was owing. | And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he paid the debt. |
Matthew 18:31 | So when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told to their lord all that was done. | But his fellow-bondmen, having seen what had taken place, were greatly grieved, and went and recounted to their lord all that had taken place. | Now his fellow servants seeing what was done, were very much grieved, and they came and told their lord all that was done. |
Matthew 18:32 | Then his lord, having called him, said to him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: | Then his lord, having called him to [him], says to him, Wicked bondman! I forgave thee all that debt because thou besoughtest me; | Then his lord called him; and said to him: Thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all the debt, because thou besoughtest me: |
Matthew 18:33 | Shouldst thou not also have had compassion on thy fellow-servant, even as I had pity on thee? | shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow-bondman, as *I* also had compassion on thee? | Shouldst not thou then have had compassion also on thy fellow servant, even as I had compassion on thee? |
Matthew 18:34 | And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due to him. | And his lord being angry delivered him to the tormentors till he paid all that was owing to him. | And his lord being angry, delivered him to the torturers until he paid all the debt. |
Matthew 18:35 | So likewise shall my heavenly Father do to you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. | Thus also my heavenly Father shall do to you if ye forgive not from your hearts every one his brother. | So also shall my heavenly Father do to you, if you forgive not every one his brother from your hearts. |
