Philippians 3:1 | Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. | For the rest, my brethren, rejoice in [the] Lord: to write the same things to you, to me [is] not irksome, and for you safe. | In conclusion, my brethren, be joyful in the Lord. For me to give you the same warnings as before is not irksome to me, while so far as you are concerned it is a safe precaution. |
Philippians 3:2 | Beware of dogs, beware of evil-workers, beware of the concision. | See to dogs, see to evil workmen, see to the concision. | Beware of `the dogs,' the bad workmen, the self-mutilators. |
Philippians 3:3 | For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. | For *we* are the circumcision, who worship by [the] Spirit of God, and boast in Christ Jesus, and do not trust in flesh. | For we are the true circumcision we who render to God a spiritual worship and make our boast in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in outward ceremonies: |
Philippians 3:4 | Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath reason to trust in the flesh, I more: | Though *I* have [my] trust even in flesh; if any other think to trust in flesh, *I* rather: | although I myself might have some excuse for confidence in outward ceremonies. If any one else claims a right to trust in them, far more may I: |
Philippians 3:5 | Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; with respect to the law, a Pharisee; | as to circumcision, [I received it] the eighth day; of [the] race of Israel, of [the] tribe of Benjamin, Hebrew of Hebrews; as to [the] law, a Pharisee; | circumcised, as I was, on the eighth day, a member of the race of Israel and of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew sprung from Hebrews; as to the Law a Pharisee; |
Philippians 3:6 | Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; with respect to the righteousness which is by the law, blameless. | as to zeal, persecuting the assembly; as to righteousness which [is] in [the] law, found blameless; | as to zeal, a persecutor of the Church; as to the righteousness which comes through Law, blameless. |
Philippians 3:7 | But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. | but what things were gain to me these I counted, on account of Christ, loss. | Yet all that was gain to me for Christ's sake I have reckoned it loss. |
Philippians 3:8 | Yes doubtless, and I count all things to be loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them to be dung, that I may win Christ, | But surely I count also all things to be loss on account of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, on account of whom I have suffered the loss of all, and count them to be filth, that I may gain Christ; | Nay, I even reckon all things as pure loss because of the priceless privilege of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. And for His sake I have suffered the loss of everything, and reckon it all as mere refuse, in order that I may win Christ and be found in union with Him, |
Philippians 3:9 | And be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith: | and that I may be found in him, not having my righteousness, which [would be] on the principle of law, but that which is by faith of Christ, the righteousness which [is] of God through faith, | not having a righteousness of my own, derived from the Law, but that which arises from faith in Christ the righteousness which comes from God through faith. |
Philippians 3:10 | That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable to his death; | to know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death, | I long to know Christ and the power which is in His resurrection, and to share in His sufferings and die even as He died; |
Philippians 3:11 | If by any means I may attain to the resurrection of the dead. | if any way I arrive at the resurrection from among [the] dead. | in the hope that I may attain to the resurrection from among the dead. |
Philippians 3:12 | Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I pursue, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended by Christ Jesus. | Not that I have already obtained [the prize], or am already perfected; but I pursue, if also I may get possession [of it], seeing that also I have been taken possession of by Christ [Jesus]. | I do not say that I have already won the race or have already reached perfection. But I am pressing on, striving to lay hold of the prize for which also Christ has laid hold of me. |
Philippians 3:13 | Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to those things which are before, | Brethren, *I* do not count to have got possession myself; but one thing forgetting the things behind, and stretching out to the things before, | Brethren, I do not imagine that I have yet laid hold of it. But this one thing I do forgetting everything which is past and stretching forward to what lies in front of me, |
Philippians 3:14 | I press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. | I pursue, [looking] towards [the] goal, for the prize of the calling on high of God in Christ Jesus. | with my eyes fixed on the goal I push on to secure the prize of God's heavenward call in Christ Jesus. |
Philippians 3:15 | Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye are otherwise minded, God will reveal even this to you. | As many therefore as [are] perfect, let us be thus minded; and if ye are any otherwise minded, this also God shall reveal to you. | Therefore let all of us who are mature believers cherish these thoughts; and if in any respect you think differently, that also God will make clear to you. |
Philippians 3:16 | Nevertheless, to what we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. | But whereto we have attained, [let us] walk in the same steps. | But whatever be the point that we have already reached, let us persevere in the same course. |
Philippians 3:17 | Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them who walk so as ye have us for an example. | Be imitators [all] together of me, brethren, and fix your eyes on those walking thus as you have us for a model; | Brethren, vie with one another in imitating me, and carefully observe those who follow the example which we have set you. |
Philippians 3:18 | (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: | (for many walk of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they [are] the enemies of the cross of Christ: | For there are many whom I have often described to you, and I now even with tears describe them, as being enemies to the Cross of Christ. |
Philippians 3:19 | Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) | whose end [is] destruction, whose god [is] the belly, and [their] glory in their shame, who mind earthly things:) | Their end is destruction, their bellies are their God, their glory is in their shame, and their minds are devoted to earthly things. |
Philippians 3:20 | For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ: | for *our* commonwealth has its existence in [the] heavens, from which also we await the Lord Jesus Christ [as] Saviour, | We, however, are free citizens of Heaven, and we are waiting with longing expectation for the coming from Heaven of a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, |
Philippians 3:21 | Who will change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like to his glorious body, according to the working by which he is able even to subdue all things to himself. | who shall transform our body of humiliation into conformity to his body of glory, according to the working of [the] power which he has even to subdue all things to himself. | who, in the exercise of the power which He has even to subject all things to Himself, will transform this body of our humiliation until it resembles His own glorious body. |
