Matthew 22:1And Jesus answered, and spoke to them again by parables, and said,And Jesus answering, spoke again in parables to them, saying:And Jesus answering, again spake to them in similes, saying,
Matthew 22:2The kingdom of heaven is like to a certain king, who made a marriage for his son,The kingdom of heaven is likened to a king, who made a marriage for his son.`The reign of the heavens was likened to a man, a king, who made marriage-feasts for his son,
Matthew 22:3And sent his servants to call them that were invited to the wedding: and they would not come.And he sent his servants, to call them that were invited to the marriage; and they would not come.and he sent forth his servants to call those having been called to the marriage-feasts, and they were not willing to come.
Matthew 22:4Again, he sent other servants, saying, Tell them who are invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage.Again he sent other servants, saying: Tell them that were invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my beeves and fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come ye to the marriage.`Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Say to those who have been called: Lo, my dinner I prepared, my oxen and the fatlings have been killed, and all things [are] ready, come ye to the marriage-feasts;
Matthew 22:5But they made light of it, and went, one to his farm, another to his merchandise.But they neglected, and went their own ways, one to his farm, and another to his merchandise.and they, having disregarded [it], went away, the one to his own field, and the other to his merchandise;
Matthew 22:6And the remnant took his servants, and treated them spitefully, and slew them.And the rest laid hands on his servants, and having treated them contumeliously, put them to death.and the rest, having laid hold on his servants, did insult and slay [them].
Matthew 22:7But when the king heard of it, he was wroth: and he sent his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.But when the king had heard of it, he was angry, and sending his armies, he destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city.`And the king having heard, was wroth, and having sent forth his soldiers, he destroyed those murderers, and their city he set on fire;
Matthew 22:8Then he saith to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they who were invited were not worthy.Then he saith to his servants: The marriage indeed is ready; but they that were invited were not worthy.then saith he to his servants, The marriage-feast indeed is ready, and those called were not worthy,
Matthew 22:9Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, invite to the marriage.Go ye therefore into the highways; and as many as you shall find, call to the marriage.be going, then, on to the cross-ways, and as many as ye may find, call ye to the marriage-feasts.
Matthew 22:10So those servants went out into the highways, and collected all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.And his servants going forth into the ways, gathered together all that they found, both bad and good: and the marriage was filled with guests.`And those servants, having gone forth to the ways, did gather all, as many as they found, both bad and good, and the marriage-feast apartment was filled with those reclining.
Matthew 22:11And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who had not a wedding-garment:And the king went in to see the guests: and he saw there a man who had not on a wedding garment.`And the king having come in to view those reclining, saw there a man not clothed with clothing of the marriage-feast,
Matthew 22:12And he saith to him, Friend, how camest thou in hither, not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless.And he saith to him: Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? But he was silent.and he saith to him, Comrade, how didst thou come in hither, not having clothing of the marriage-feast? and he was speechless.
Matthew 22:13Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into utter darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.Then the king said to the waiters: Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the exterior darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.`Then said the king to the ministrants, Having bound his feet and hands, take him up and cast forth to the outer darkness, there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth;
Matthew 22:14For many are called, but few are chosen.For many are called, but few are chosen.for many are called, and few chosen.`
Matthew 22:15Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.Then the Pharisees going, consulted among themselves how to insnare him in his speech.Then the Pharisees having gone, took counsel how they might ensnare him in words,
Matthew 22:16And they sent out to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.And they sent to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying: Master, we know that thou art a true speaker, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou dost not regard the person of men.and they send to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, `Teacher, we have known that thou art true, and the way of God in truth thou dost teach, and thou art not caring for any one, for thou dost not look to the face of men;
Matthew 22:17Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute to Cesar, or not?Tell us therefore what dost thou think, is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?tell us, therefore, what dost thou think? is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?`
Matthew 22:18But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?But Jesus knowing their wickedness, said: Why do you tempt me, ye hypocrites?And Jesus having known their wickedness, said, `Why me do ye tempt, hypocrites?
Matthew 22:19Show me the tribute-money. And they brought to him a penny.Shew me the coin of the tribute. And they offered him a penny.show me the tribute-coin?` and they brought to him a denary;
Matthew 22:20And he saith to them, Whose is this image, and superscription?And Jesus saith to them: Whose image and inscription is this?and he saith to them, `Whose [is] this image and the inscription?`
Matthew 22:21They say to him, Cesar's. Then saith he to them, Render therefore to Cesar, the things which are Cesar's; and to God, the things that are God's.They say to him: Caesar's. Then he saith to them: Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God, the things that are God's.they say to him, `Caesar`s;` then saith he to them, `Render therefore the things of Caesar to Caesar, and the things of God to God;`
Matthew 22:22When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left him, and departed.And hearing this they wondered, and leaving him, went their ways.and having heard they wondered, and having left him they went away.
Matthew 22:23The same day came to him the Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,That day there came to him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and asked him,In that day there came near to him Sadducees, who are saying there is not a rising again, and they questioned him, saying,
Matthew 22:24Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man shall die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.Saying: Master, Moses said: If a man die having no son, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up issue to his brother.`Teacher, Moses said, If any one may die not having children, his brother shall marry his wife, and shall raise up seed to his brother.
Matthew 22:25Now there were with us seven brothers: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased; and having no issue, left his wife to his brother.Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first having married a wife, died; and not having issue, left his wife to his brother.`And there were with us seven brothers, and the first having married did die, and not having seed, he left his wife to his brother;
Matthew 22:26Likewise the second also, and the third, to the seventh.In like manner the second, and the third, and so on to the seventh.in like manner also the second, and the third, unto the seventh,
Matthew 22:27And last of all the woman died also.And last of all the woman died also.and last of all died also the woman;
Matthew 22:28Therefore in the resurrection, whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.At the resurrection therefore whose wife of the seven shall she be? for they all had her.therefore in the rising again, of which of the seven shall she be wife for all had her?`
Matthew 22:29Jesus answered and said to them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.And Jesus answering, said to them: You err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.And Jesus answering said to them, `Ye go astray, not knowing the Writings, nor the power of God;
Matthew 22:30For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.For in the resurrection they shall neither marry nor be married; but shall be as the angels of God in heaven.for in the rising again they do not marry, nor are they given in marriage, but are as messengers of God in heaven.
Matthew 22:31But as concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,And concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken by God, saying to you:`And concerning the rising again of the dead, did ye not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,
Matthew 22:32I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not a God of dead men, but of living.`
Matthew 22:33And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.And the multitudes hearing it, were in admiration at his doctrine.And having heard, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching;
Matthew 22:34But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were assembled about him.But the Pharisees hearing that he had silenced the Sadducees, came together:and the Pharisees, having heard that he did silence the Sadducees, were gathered together unto him;
Matthew 22:35Then one of them who was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,And one of them, a doctor of the law, asking him, tempting him:and one of them, a lawyer, did question, tempting him, and saying,
Matthew 22:36Master, which is the great commandment in the law?Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law?`Teacher, which [is] the great command in the Law?`
Matthew 22:37Jesus said to him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind.And Jesus said to him, `Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thine understanding
Matthew 22:38This is the first and great commandment.This is the greatest and the first commandment.this is a first and great command;
Matthew 22:39And the second is like it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.and the second [is] like to it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself;
Matthew 22:40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.On these two commandments dependeth the whole law and the prophets.on these the two commands all the law and the prophets do hang.`
Matthew 22:41While the Pharisees were assembled, Jesus asked them,And the Pharisees being gathered together, Jesus asked them,And the Pharisees having been gathered together, Jesus did question them,
Matthew 22:42Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say to him, The son of David.Saying: What think you of Christ? whose son is he? They say to him: David's.saying, `What do ye think concerning the Christ? of whom is he son?` They say to him, `Of David.`
Matthew 22:43He saith to them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,He saith to them: How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying:He saith to them, `How then doth David in the Spirit call him lord, saying,
Matthew 22:44The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thy enemies thy footstool?The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool?The Lord said to my lord, Sit at my right hand, till I may make thine enemies thy footstool?
Matthew 22:45If David then calleth him Lord, how is he his son?If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?If then David doth call him lord, how is he his son?`
Matthew 22:46And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man, from that day forth, ask him any more questions.And no man was able to answer him a word; neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.And no one was able to answer him a word, nor durst any from that day question him any more.
