James 1:4But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. But let endurance have [its] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:5If any of you lacketh wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given to him.If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But if any one of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all freely and reproaches not, and it shall be given to him:
James 1:6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. but let him ask in faith, nothing doubting. For he that doubts is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed about;
James 1:7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing from the Lord.For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. for let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord;
James 1:8A man unsettled in his opinions is unstable in all his ways.A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. [he is] a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 1:9Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: But let the brother of low degree glory in his elevation,
James 1:10But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. and the rich in his humiliation, because as [the] grass's flower he will pass away.
James 1:11For the sun hath no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and its flower falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. For the sun has risen with its burning heat, and has withered the grass, and its flower has fallen, and the comeliness of its look has perished: thus the rich also shall wither in his goings.
James 1:12Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Blessed [is the] man who endures temptation; for, having been proved, he shall receive the crown of life, which He has promised to them that love him.
James 1:13Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted by God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: Let no man, being tempted, say, I am tempted of God. For God cannot be tempted by evil things, and himself tempts no one.
James 1:14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. But every one is tempted, drawn away, and enticed by his own lust;
James 1:15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. then lust, having conceived, gives birth to sin; but sin fully completed brings forth death.

James 1:18Of his own will he hath begotten us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. According to his own will begat he us by the word of truth, that we should be a certain first-fruits of *his* creatures.
James 1:19Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: So that, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
James 1:20For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. for man's wrath does not work God's righteousness.
James 1:21Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the ingrafted word, which is able to save your souls.Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. Wherefore, laying aside all filthiness and abounding of wickedness, accept with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
James 1:22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. But be ye doers of [the] word and not hearers only, beguiling yourselves.
James 1:23For if any is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man beholding his natural face in a glass:For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For if any man be a hearer of [the] word and not a doer, *he* is like to a man considering his natural face in a mirror:

If any one think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, this man's religion is vain.
