Exodus 18:1 | When Jethro the priest of Midian, Moses's father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt: | When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt; | And when Jethro the priest of Madian, the kinsman of Moses, had heard all the things that God had done to Moses, and to Israel his people, and that the Lord had brought forth Israel out of Egypt, |
Exodus 18:2 | Then Jethro, Moses's father-in-law, took Zipporah Moses's wife, after he had sent her back, | Then Jethro, Moses' father in law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her back, | He took Sephora the wife of Moses whom he had sent back: |
Exodus 18:3 | And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; (for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land:) | And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land: | And her two sons, of whom one was called Gersam, his father saying: I have been a stranger in a foreign country. |
Exodus 18:4 | And the name of the other was Eliezer; (for the God of my father, said he, was my help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh:) | And the name of the other was Eliezer; for the God of my father, said he, was mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh: | And the other Eliezer: For the God of my father, said he, is my helper, and hath delivered me from the sword of Pharao. |
Exodus 18:5 | And Jethro, Moses's father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife to Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of God: | And Jethro, Moses' father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of God: | And Jethro the kinsman of Moses came with his sons and his wife, to Moses into the desert, where he was camped by the mountain of God. |
Exodus 18:6 | And he said to Moses, I thy father-in-law Jethro have come to thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her. | And he said unto Moses, I thy father in law Jethro am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her. | And he sent word to Moses, saying: I Jethro thy kinsman come to thee, and thy wife, and thy two sons with her. |

Exodus 18:12 | And Jethro, Moses's father-in-law, took a burnt-offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel to eat bread with Moses's father-in-law before God. | And Jethro, Moses' father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father in law before God. | So Jethro the kinsman of Moses offered holocausts and sacrifices to God: and Aaron and all the ancients of Israel came, to eat bread with them before God. |

Exodus 18:14 | And when Moses's father-in-law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? Why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning to evening? | And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? | And when his kinsman had seen all things that he did among the people, he said: What is it that thou dost among the people? Why sittest thou alone, and all the people wait from morning till night. |
Exodus 18:15 | And Moses said to his father-in-law, Because the people come to me to inquire of God: | And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God: | And Moses answered him: The people come to me to seek the judgment of God. |
Exodus 18:16 | When they have a matter, they come to me, and I judge between one and another, and I make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. | When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. | And when any controversy falleth out among them, they come to me to judge between them, and to shew the precepts of God, and his laws. |
Exodus 18:17 | And Moses's father-in-law said to him, The thing that thou doest is not good. | And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. | But he said: The thing thou dost is not good. |

Be thou to the people in those things that pertain to God, to bring their words to him: |
Exodus 18:20 | And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt show them the way in which they must walk, and the work that they must do. | And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. | And to shew the people the ceremonies and the manner of worshipping, and the way wherein they ought to walk, and the work that they ought to do. |
Exodus 18:21 | Moreover, thou shalt provide out of all the people, able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: | Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: | And provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, in whom there is truth, and that hate avarice, and appoint of them rulers of thousands, and of hundreds, and of fifties, and of tens. |
Exodus 18:22 | And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring to thee, but every small matter they shall judge: So shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. | And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. | Who may judge the people at all times: and when any great matter soever shall fall out, let them refer it to thee, and let them judge the lesser matters only: that so it may be lighter for thee, the burden being shared out unto others. |
