Matthew 25:1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened to ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom."Then will the Kingdom of the Heavens be found to be like ten bridesmaids who took their torches and went out to meet the bridegroom.Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Matthew 25:2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.Five of them were foolish and five were wise.And five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
Matthew 25:3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:For the foolish, when they took their torches, did not provide themselves with oil;For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them:
Matthew 25:4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.but the wise, besides their torches, took oil in their flasks.but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Matthew 25:5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.The bridegroom was a long time in coming, so that meanwhile they all became drowsy and fell asleep.Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Matthew 25:6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.But at midnight there is a loud cry, "`The bridegroom! Go out and meet him!'But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him.
Matthew 25:7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps."Then all those bridesmaids roused themselves and trimmed their torches.Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Matthew 25:8And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil: for our lamps are gone out."`Give us some of your oil,' said the foolish ones to the wise, `for our torches are going out.'And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out.
Matthew 25:9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves."`But perhaps,' replied the wise, `there will not be enough for all of us. Go to the shops rather, and buy some for yourselves.'But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Matthew 25:10And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready, went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut."So they went to buy. But meanwhile the bridegroom came; those bridesmaids who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet; and the door was shut.And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us."Afterwards the other bridesmaids came and cried, "`Sir, Sir, open the door to us.'Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Matthew 25:12But he answered and said, Verily I say to you, I know you not."`In solemn truth I tell you,' he replied, `I do not know you.'But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Matthew 25:13Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of man cometh."Keep awake therefore; for you know neither the day nor the hour.Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour.
Matthew 25:14For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered to them his goods."Why, it is like a man who, when going on his travels, called his bondservants and entrusted his property to their care.For [it is] as [when] a man, going into another country, called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
Matthew 25:15And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and forthwith took his journey.To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one to each according to his individual capacity; and then started from home.And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his several ability; and he went on his journey.
Matthew 25:16Then he that had received the five talents, went and traded with the same, and gained other five talents.Without delay the one who had received the five talents went and employed them in business, and gained five more.Straightway he that received the five talents went and traded with them, and made other five talents.
Matthew 25:17And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.In the same way he who had the two gained two more.In like manner he also that [received] the two gained other two.
Matthew 25:18But he that had received one, went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.But the man who had received the one went and dug a hole and buried his master's money.But he that received the one went away and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
Matthew 25:19After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them."After a long lapse of time the master of those servants returned, and had a reckoning with them.Now after a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and maketh a reckoning with them.
Matthew 25:20And he that had received five talents, came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst to me five talents: behold, I have gained besides them five talents more.The one who had received the five talents came and brought five more, and said, "`Sir, it was five talents that you entrusted to me: see, I have gained five more.'And he that received the five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: lo, I have gained other five talents.
Matthew 25:21His lord said to him, Well done thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."`You have done well, good and trustworthy servant,' replied his master; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:22He also that had received two talents came, and said, Lord, thou deliveredst to me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents besides them."The second, who had received the two talents, came and said, "`Sir, it was two talents you entrusted to me: see, I have gained two more.'And he also that [received] the two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: lo, I have gained other two talents.
Matthew 25:23His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."`Good and trustworthy servant, you have done well,' his master replied; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:24Then he who had received the one talent came, and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strewed:"But, next, the man who had the one talent in his keeping came and said, "`Sir, I knew you to be a severe man, reaping where you had not sown and garnering what you had not winnowed.And he also that had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering where thou didst not scatter;
Matthew 25:25And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast what is thine.So being afraid I went and buried your talent in the ground: there you have what belongs to you.'and I was afraid, and went away and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, thou hast thine own.
Matthew 25:26His lord answered and said to him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not strewed:"`You wicked and slothful servant,' replied his master, `did you know that I reap where I have not sown, and garner what I have not winnowed?But his lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not scatter;
Matthew 25:27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received my own with interest.Your duty then was to deposit my money in some bank, and so when I came I should have got back my property with interest.thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back mine own with interest.
Matthew 25:28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who hath ten talents.So take away the talent from him, and give it to the man who has the ten.'Take ye away therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him that hath the ten talents.
Matthew 25:29For to every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.(For to every one who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him who has nothing, even what he has shall be taken away.)For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away.
Matthew 25:30And cast ye the unprofitable servant into utter darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.`But as for this worthless servant, put him out into the darkness outside: *there* will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.'And cast ye out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then will he sit upon the throne of his glory:"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then will He sit upon His glorious throne,But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory:
Matthew 25:32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:and all the nations will be gathered into His presence. And He will separate them from one another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats;
Matthew 25:33And he will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.and will make the sheep stand at His right hand, and the goats at His left.and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Matthew 25:34Then will the King say to them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:"Then the King will say to those at His right, "`Come, my Father's blessed ones, receive your inheritance of the Kingdom which has been divinely intended for you ever since the creation of the world.Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Matthew 25:35For I was hungry, and ye gave me food: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:For when I was hungry, you gave me food; when I was thirsty, you gave me drink; when I was homeless, you gave me a welcome;for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;
Matthew 25:36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came to me.when I was ill-clad, you clothed me; when I was sick, you visited me; when I was in prison, you came to see me.'naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Matthew 25:37Then will the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?"`When, Lord,' the righteous will reply, `did we see Thee hungry, and feed Thee; or thirsty, and give Thee drink?Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or athirst, and gave thee drink?
Matthew 25:38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?When did we see Thee homeless, and give Thee a welcome? or ill-clad, and clothe Thee?And when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Matthew 25:39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came to thee?When did we see Thee sick or in prison, and come to see Thee?'And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Matthew 25:40And the king will answer and say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me."But the King will answer them, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you rendered such services to one of the humblest of these my brethren, you rendered them to myself.'And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, [even] these least, ye did it unto me.
Matthew 25:41Then will he say also to them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"Then will He say to those at His left, "`Begone from me, with the curse resting upon you, into the Fire of the Ages, which has been prepared for the Devil and his angels.Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels:
Matthew 25:42For I was hungry, and ye gave me no food: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:For when I was hungry, you gave me nothing to eat; when thirsty, you gave me nothing to drink;for I was hungry, and ye did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink;
Matthew 25:43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.when homeless, you gave me no welcome; ill-clad, you clothed me not; sick or in prison, you visited me not.'I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Matthew 25:44Then will they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee?"Then will they also answer, "`Lord, when did we see Thee hungry or thirsty or homeless or ill-clad or sick or in prison, and not come to serve Thee?'Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Matthew 25:45Then will he answer them, saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me."But he will reply, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you withheld such services from one of the humblest of these, you withheld them from me.'Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me.
Matthew 25:46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."And these shall go away into the Punishment of the Ages, but the righteous into the Life of the Ages."And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life.
