John 20:1The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, to the sepulcher, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulcher.On the first day of the week, very early, while it was still dark, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from it.And on the first [day] of the week Mary of Magdala comes in early morn to the tomb, while it was still dark, and sees the stone taken away from the tomb.
John 20:2Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulcher, and we know not where they have laid him.So she ran, as fast as she could, to find Simon Peter and the other disciple the one who was dear to Jesus and to tell them, "They have taken the Master out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have put Him."She runs therefore and comes to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, to whom Jesus was attached, and says to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him.
John 20:3Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulcher.Peter and the other disciple started at once to go to the tomb, both of them running,Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and came to the tomb.
John 20:4So they ran both together: and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the sepulcher.but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and reached it before he did.And the two ran together, and the other disciple ran forward faster than Peter, and came first to the tomb,
John 20:5And he stooping down, saw the linen cloths lying; yet he went not in.Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying there on the ground, but he did not go in.and stooping down he sees the linen cloths lying; he did not however go in.
John 20:6Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulcher, and seeth the linen cloths lying;Simon Peter, however, also came, following him, and entered the tomb. There on the ground he saw the cloths;Simon Peter therefore comes, following him, and entered into the tomb, and sees the linen cloths lying,
John 20:7And the napkin that was about his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but wrapped together in a place by itself.and the towel, which had been placed over the face of Jesus, not lying with the cloths, but folded up and put by itself.and the handkerchief which was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded up in a distinct place by itself.
John 20:8Then went in also that other disciple who came first to the sepulcher, and he saw, and believed.Then the other disciple, who had been the first to come to the tomb, also went in and saw and was convinced.Then entered in therefore the other disciple also who came first to the tomb, and he saw and believed;
John 20:9For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.For until now they had not understood the inspired teaching, that He must rise again from among the dead.for they had not yet known the scripture, that he must rise from among [the] dead.
John 20:10Then the disciples went away again to their own home.Then they went away and returned home.The disciples therefore went away again to their own home.
John 20:11But Mary stood without at the sepulcher weeping: and as she wept she stooped down to look into the sepulcher,Meanwhile Mary remained standing near the tomb, weeping aloud. She did not enter the tomb, but as she wept she stooped and looked in,But Mary stood at the tomb weeping without. As therefore she wept, she stooped down into the tomb,
John 20:12And seeth two angels in white, sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.and saw two angels clothed in white raiment, sitting one at the head and one at the feet where the body of Jesus had been.and beholds two angels sitting in white [garments], one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
John 20:13And they say to her, Woman, why weepest thou? she saith to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.They spoke to her. "Why are you weeping?" they asked. "Because," she replied, "they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have put him."And they say to her, Woman, why dost thou weep? She says to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.
John 20:14And when she had thus said, she turned herself about, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.While she was speaking, she turned round and saw Jesus standing there, but did not recognize Him.Having said these things she turned backward and beholds Jesus standing [there], and knew not that it was Jesus.
John 20:15Jesus saith to her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith to him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away."Why are you weeping?" He asked; "who are you looking for?" She, supposing that He was the gardener, replied, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him and I will remove him."Jesus says to her, Woman, why dost thou weep? Whom seekest thou? She, supposing that it was the gardener, says to him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
John 20:16Jesus saith to her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith to him, Rabboni, which is to say, Master."Mary!" said Jesus. She turned to Him. "Rabboni!" she cried in Hebrew: the word means `Teacher!'Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning round, says to him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher.
John 20:17Jesus saith to her, Touch me not: for I have not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God."Do not cling to me," said Jesus, "for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But take this message to my brethren: `I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"Jesus says to her, Touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and [to] my God and your God.
John 20:18Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things to her.Mary of Magdala came and brought word to the disciples. "I have seen the Master," she said. And she told them that He had said these things to her.Mary of Magdala comes bringing word to the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and [that] he had said these things to her.
John 20:19Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, Peace be to you.On that same first day of the week, when it was evening and, for fear of the Jews, the doors of the house where the disciples were, were locked, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and said to them, "Peace be to you!"When therefore it was evening on that day, which was the first [day] of the week, and the doors shut where the disciples were, through fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and says to them, Peace [be] to you.
John 20:20And when he had so said, he showed to them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord.Having said this He showed them His hands and also His side; and the disciples were filled with joy at seeing the Master.And having said this, he shewed to them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced therefore, having seen the Lord.
John 20:21Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be to you: as my Father hath sent me, even so I send you.A second time, therefore, He said to them, "Peace be to you! As the Father sent me, I also now send you."[Jesus] said therefore again to them, Peace [be] to you: as the Father sent me forth, I also send you.
John 20:22And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith to them, Receive ye the Holy Spirit.Having said this He breathed upon them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit.And having said this, he breathed into [them], and says to them, Receive [the] Holy Spirit:
John 20:23Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted to them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.If you remit the sins of any persons, they remain remitted to them. If you bind fast the sins of any, they remain bound."whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted to them; whose soever [sins] ye retain, they are retained.
John 20:24But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.Thomas, one of the twelve surnamed `the Twin' was not among them when Jesus came.But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
John 20:25The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.So the rest of the disciples told him, "We have seen the Master!" His reply was, "Unless I see in his hands the wound made by the nails and put my finger into the wound, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe it."The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and put my finger into the mark of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.
John 20:26And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be to you.A week later the disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them, when Jesus came though the doors were locked and stood in their midst, and said, "Peace be to you."And eight days after, his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them. Jesus comes, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace [be] to you.
John 20:27Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing.Then He said to Thomas, "Bring your finger here and feel my hands; bring you hand and put it into my side; and do not be ready to disbelieve but to believe."Then he says to Thomas, Bring thy finger here and see my hands; and bring thy hand and put it into my side; and be not unbelieving, but believing.
John 20:28And Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God."My Lord and my God!" replied Thomas.Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God.
John 20:29Jesus saith to him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."Because you have seen me," replied Jesus, "you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."Jesus says to him, Because thou hast seen me thou hast believed: blessed they who have not seen and have believed.
John 20:30And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book.There were also a great number of other signs which Jesus performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not recorded in this book.Many other signs therefore also Jesus did before his disciples, which are not written in this book;
John 20:31But these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life through his name.But these have been recorded in order that you may believe that He is the Christ, the Son of God, and that, through believing, you may have Life through His name.but these are written that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life in his name.
