Genesis 17:1 | And when Abram was ninety and nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said to him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. | | And after he began to be ninety and nine years old, the Lord appeared to him: and said unto him: I am the Almighty God: walk before me, and be perfect. |
Genesis 17:2 | And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. | | And I will make my covenant between me and thee: and I will multiply thee exceedingly. |
Genesis 17:3 | And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, | | Abram tell flat on his face. |
Genesis 17:4 | As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. | | And God said to him: I AM, and my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father. of many nations. |
Genesis 17:5 | Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. | | Neither shall thy name be called any more Abram: but thou shalt be called Abraham: because I have made thee a father of many nations. |
Genesis 17:6 | And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of thee; and kings shall proceed from thee. | | And I will make thee increase, exceedingly, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. |
Genesis 17:7 | And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and thy seed after thee, in their generations, for an everlasting covenant; to be a God to thee and to thy seed after thee. | | And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and between thy sad after thee in their generations, by a perpetual covenant: to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee. |
Genesis 17:8 | And I will give to thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land in which thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. | | And I will give to thee, and to thy seed, the land of thy sojournment, all the land of Chanaan for a perpetual possession, and I will be their God. |
Genesis 17:9 | And God said to Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee, in their generations. | | Again God said to Abraham: And thou therefore shalt keep my covenant, and thy seed after thee in their generations. |
Genesis 17:10 | This is my covenant, which ye shall keep between me and you, and thy seed after thee; Every male-child among you shall be circumcised. | | This is my covenant which you shall observe, between me and you, and thy seed after thee: All the male kind of you shall be circumcised: |
Genesis 17:11 | And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. | | And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, that it may be for a h sign of the covenant between me and you. |
Genesis 17:12 | And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male-child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, who is not of thy seed. | | An infant of eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations: he that is born in the house, as well as the bought servant shall be circumcised, and whosoever is not of your stock: |
Genesis 17:13 | He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. | | And my covenant shall be in your flesh for a perpetual covenant. |
Genesis 17:14 | And the uncircumcised male-child, whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant. | | The male, whose dash of his foreskin shall not be circumcised, that soul shall be destroyed out of his people: because he hath broken my covenant. |
Genesis 17:15 | And God said to Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. | | God said also to Abraham: Sarai thy wife thou shalt not call Sarai, but Sara. |
Genesis 17:16 | And I will bless her, and give thee a son also by her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall proceed from her. | | And I will bless her, and of her I will give thee a son, whom I will bless, and he shell become nations, and kings of people shall spring from him. |
Genesis 17:17 | Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear? | | Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, saying in his heart: Shall a son, thinkest thou, be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sara that is ninety years old bring forth? |
Genesis 17:18 | And Abraham said to God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! | | And he said to God: O that Ismael may live before thee. |
Genesis 17:19 | And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. | | And God said to Abraham: Sara thy wife shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name Isaac, and I will establish my covenant with him for a perpetual covenant, and with his seed after him. |
Genesis 17:20 | And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. | | And as for Ismael I have also heard thee. Behold, I will bless him, and increase, and multiply him exceedingly: he shall beget twelve chiefs, and I will make him a great nation. |
Genesis 17:21 | But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to thee at this set time in the next year. | | But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sara shall bring forth to thee at this time in the next year. |
Genesis 17:22 | And he ceased talking with him, and God went up from Abraham. | | And when he had left oil speaking with him, God went up from Abraham. |
Genesis 17:23 | And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin, in the same day, as God had said to him. | | And Abraham took Ismael his son, and all that were born in his house: and all whom he had bought, every male among the men of his house: and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskin forthwith the very same day, as God had commanded him. |
Genesis 17:24 | And Abraham was ninety and nine years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. | | Abraham was ninety and nine years old, when he circumcised the flesh of his foreskin. |
Genesis 17:25 | And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. | | And Ismael his son was full thirteen years old at the time of his circumcision. |
Genesis 17:26 | In the same day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son. | | And all the men of his house, as well they that were born in his house, as the bought servants and strangers were circumcised with him. |
Genesis 17:27 | And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him. | | The selfsame day was Abraham circumcised and Ismael his son. |
