Galatians 4:1Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he is lord of all;Now I say that so long as an heir is a child, he in no respect differs from a slave, although he is the owner of everything,And I say, so long time as the heir is a babe, he differeth nothing from a servant being lord of all,
Galatians 4:2But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed by the father.but he is under the control of guardians and trustees until the time his father has appointed.but is under tutors and stewards till the time appointed of the father,
Galatians 4:3Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:So we also, when spiritually we were children, were subject to the world's rudimentary notions, and were enslaved.so also we, when we were babes, under the elements of the world were in servitude,
Galatians 4:4But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,But, when the time was fully come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born subject to Law,and when the fulness of time did come, God sent forth His Son, come of a woman, come under law,
Galatians 4:5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.in order to purchase the freedom of all who were subject to Law, so that we might receive recognition as sons.that those under law he may redeem, that the adoption of sons we may receive;
Galatians 4:6And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.And because you are sons, God has sent out the Spirit of His Son to enter your hearts and cry "Abba! our Father!"and because ye are sons, God did send forth the spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, `Abba, Father!`
Galatians 4:7Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir also through God's own act.so that thou art no more a servant, but a son, and if a son, also an heir of God through Christ.
Galatians 4:8However then, when ye knew not God, ye did service to them which by nature are no gods.But at one time, you Gentiles, having no knowledge of God, were slaves to gods which in reality do not exist.But then, indeed, not having known God, ye were in servitude to those not by nature gods,
Galatians 4:9But now, after ye have known God, or rather are known by God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which ye desire again to be in bondage?Now, however, having come to know God or rather to be known by Him how is it you are again turning back to weak and worthless rudimentary notions to which you are once more willing to be enslaved?and now, having known God and rather being known by God how turn ye again unto the weak and poor elements to which anew ye desire to be in servitude?
Galatians 4:10Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.You scrupulously observe days and months, special seasons, and years.days ye observe, and months, and times, and years!
Galatians 4:11I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain.I am alarmed about you, and am afraid that I have perhaps bestowed labour upon you to no purpose.I am afraid of you, lest in vain I did labour toward you.
Galatians 4:12Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.Brethren, become as I am, I beseech you; for I have also become like you. In no respect did you behave badly to me.Become as I [am] because I also [am] as ye brethren, I beseech you; to me ye did no hurt,
Galatians 4:13Ye know that in infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel to you at the first.And you know that in those early days it was on account of bodily infirmity that I proclaimed the Good News to you,and ye have known that through infirmity of the flesh I did proclaim good news to you at the first,
Galatians 4:14And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.and yet the bodily infirmity which was such a trial to you, you did not regard with contempt or loathing, but you received me as if I had been an angel of God or Christ Jesus Himself!and my trial that [is] in my flesh ye did not despise nor reject, but as a messenger of God ye did receive me as Christ Jesus;
Galatians 4:15What then was the blessedness ye spoke of; for I bear you testimony, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.I ask you, then, what has become of your self-congratulations? For I bear you witness that had it been possible you would have torn out your own eyes and have given them to me.what then was your happiness? for I testify to you, that if possible, your eyes having plucked out, ye would have given to me;
Galatians 4:16Am I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?Can it be that I have become your enemy through speaking the truth to you?so that your enemy have I become, being true to you?
Galatians 4:17They zealously affect you, but not well; for, they would exclude you, that ye may affect them.These men pay court to you, but not with honourable motives. They want to exclude you, so that you may pay court to them.they are zealous for you [yet] not well, but they wish to shut us out, that for them ye may be zealous;
Galatians 4:18But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.It is always an honourable thing to be courted in an honourable cause; always, and not only when I am with you, my childrenand [it is] good to be zealously regarded, in what is good, at all times, and not only in my being present with you;
Galatians 4:19My little children, of whom I travail in birth again, until Christ be formed in you,you for whom I am again, as it were, undergoing the pains of childbirth, until Christ is fully formed within you.my little children, of whom again I travail in birth, till Christ may be formed in you,
Galatians 4:20I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.Would that I were with you and could change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.and I was wishing to be present with you now, and to change my voice, because I am in doubt about you.
Galatians 4:21Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?Tell me you who want to continue to be subject to Law will you not listen to the Law?Tell me, ye who are willing to be under law, the law do ye not hear?
Galatians 4:22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons; the one by a bond-maid, the other by a free-woman.For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave-girl and one by the free woman.for it hath been written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the maid-servant, and one by the free-woman,
Galatians 4:23But he who was of the bond-woman, was born according to the flesh; but he of the free-woman was by promise.But we see that the child of the slave-girl was born in the common course of nature; but the child of the free woman in fulfilment of the promise.but he who [is] of the maid-servant, according to flesh hath been, and he who [is] of the free-woman, through the promise;
Galatians 4:24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.All this is allegorical; for the women represent two Covenants. One has its origin on Mount Sinai, and bears children destined for slavery.which things are allegorized, for these are the two covenants: one, indeed, from mount Sinai, to servitude bringing forth, which is Hagar;
Galatians 4:25For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.This is Hagar; for the name Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, which is in bondage together with her children.for this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and doth correspond to the Jerusalem that now [is], and is in servitude with her children,
Galatians 4:26But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.But the Jerusalem which is above is free, and *she* is *our* mother.and the Jerusalem above is the free-woman, which is mother of us all,
Galatians 4:27For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she who hath a husband.For it is written, "Rejoice, thou barren woman that bearest not, break forth into a joyful cry, thou that dost not travail with child. For the desolate woman has many children more indeed than she who has the husband."for it hath been written, `Rejoice, O barren, who art not bearing; break forth and cry, thou who art not travailing, because many [are] the children of the desolate more than of her having the husband.`
Galatians 4:28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.But you, brethren, like Isaac, are children born in fulfilment of a promise.And we, brethren, as Isaac, are children of promise,
Galatians 4:29But as then he that was born according to the flesh persecuted him that was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now.Yet just as, at that time, the child born in the common course of nature persecuted the one whose birth was due to the power of the Spirit, so it is now.but as then he who was born according to the flesh did persecute him according to the spirit, so also now;
Galatians 4:30Nevertheless, what saith the scripture? Cast out the bond-woman and her son: for the son of the bond-woman shall not be heir with the son of the free-woman.But what says the Scripture? "Send away the slave-girl and her son, for never shall the slave-girl's son share the inheritance with the son of the free woman."but what saith the Writing? `Cast forth the maid-servant and her son, for the son of the maid-servant may not be heir with the son of the free-woman;`
Galatians 4:31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bond-woman, but of the free.Therefore, brethren, since we are not the children of a slave-girl, but of the free womanthen, brethren, we are not a maid-servant`s children, but the free-woman`s.
