Matthew 6:1Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen by them: otherwise ye have no reward from your Father who is in heaven."Be careful that you don't do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.Take heed that you do not your justice before men, to be seen by them: otherwise you shall not have a reward of your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 6:2Therefore, when thou doest thy alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Verily, I say to you, they have their reward. Therefore when you do merciful deeds, don't sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most assuredly, I tell you, they have received their reward. Therefore when thou dost an almsdeed, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be honoured by men. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.
Matthew 6:3But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:But when you do merciful deeds, don't let your left hand know what your right hand does,But when thou dost alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth.
Matthew 6:4That thy alms may be in secret; and thy Father who seeth in secret, himself will reward thee openly.so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. That thy alms may be in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee.
Matthew 6:5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues, and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Verily, I say to you, they have their reward."When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most assuredly, I tell you, they have received their reward. And when ye pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, that love to stand and pray in the synagogues and corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men: Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.
Matthew 6:6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret, will reward thee openly. But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. But thou when thou shalt pray, enter into thy chamber, and having shut the door, pray to thy Father in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee.
Matthew 6:7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking. And when you are praying, speak not much, as the heathens. For they think that in their much speaking they may be heard.
Matthew 6:8Therefore be ye not like them: for your Father knoweth what things ye need before ye ask him. Therefore don't be like them, for your Father knows what things you need, before you ask him.Be not you therefore like to them, for your Father knoweth what is needful for you, before you ask him.
Matthew 6:9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.Pray like this. 'Our Father, who is in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Thus therefore shall you pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Matthew 6:10Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.May your kingdom come. May your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Matthew 6:11Give us this day our daily bread.Give us this day our daily bread.Give us this day our supersubstantial bread.
Matthew 6:12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
Matthew 6:13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.'And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.
Matthew 6:14For, if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.For if you will forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father will forgive you also your offences.
Matthew 6:15But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your offences.
Matthew 6:16Moreover, when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to fast. Verily, I say to you, they have their reward."Moreover when you fast, don't be, as the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most assuredly I tell you, they have received their reward. And when you fast, be not as the hypocrites, sad. For they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.
Matthew 6:17But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face;But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face;But thou, when thou fastest anoint thy head, and wash thy face;
Matthew 6:18That thou mayest not appear to men to fast, but to thy Father, who is in secret: and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you. That thou appear not to men to fast, but to thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret, will repay thee.
Matthew 6:19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:"Don't lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;Lay not up to yourselves treasures on earth: where the rust, and moth consume, and where thieves break through and steal.
Matthew 6:20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don't break through and steal; But lay up to yourselves treasures in heaven: where neither the rust nor moth doth consume, and where thieves do not break through, nor steal.
Matthew 6:21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.for where your treasure is, your heart will be there also. For where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also.
Matthew 6:22The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light. The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light. The light of thy body is thy eye. If thy eye be single, thy whole body shall be lightsome.
Matthew 6:23But if thy eye be evil, thy whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee is darkness, how great is that darkness! But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! But if thy eye be evil thy whole body shall be darksome. If then the light that is in thee, be darkness: the darkness itself how great shall it be!
Matthew 6:24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You can't serve both God and Mammon. No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew 6:25Therefore I say to you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment? Therefore, I tell you, don't be anxious for your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will put on. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment?
Matthew 6:26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they?Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they?
Matthew 6:27Which of you by anxious care can add one cubit to his stature?Which of you, by being anxious, can add one cubit to the measure of his life? And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature by one cubit?
Matthew 6:28And why are ye anxious for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field how they grow? they toil not, neither do they spin? Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin,And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin.
Matthew 6:29And yet I say to you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these.
Matthew 6:30Wherefore, if God so clotheth the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith? And if the grass of the field, which is to day, and to morrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith?
Matthew 6:31Therefore be not anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or, with what shall we be clothed? Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?'Be not solicitous therefore, saying, What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed?
Matthew 6:32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things.
Matthew 6:33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be added to you.Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:34Therefore be not anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be solicitous for the things of itself. Sufficient to the day is its own evil. Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient.Be not therefore solicitous for to morrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.
