Amos 8:1Thus hath the Lord GOD shown to me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.Thus the Lord Yahweh showed me: and, behold, a basket of summer fruit.
Amos 8:2And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD to me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.He said, Amos, what see you? I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said Yahweh to me, The end is come on my people Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
Amos 8:3And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.The songs of the temple shall be wailings in that day, says the Lord Yahweh: the dead bodies shall be many: in every place shall they cast them forth with silence.
Amos 8:4Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,Hear this, you who would swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail,
Amos 8:5Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? and the Sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;
Amos 8:6That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; and even sell the refuse of the wheat?that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
Amos 8:7The LORD hath sworn by the excellence of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.Yahweh has sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
Amos 8:8Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth in it? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood: and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.Shall not the land tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells therein? yes, it shall rise up wholly like the River; and it shall be troubled and sink again, like the River of Egypt.
