Matthew 28:1 | In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn towards the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary to see the sepulcher. | And on the eve of the sabbaths, at the dawn, toward the first of the sabbaths, came Mary the Magdalene, and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre, | Now late on the Sabbath, when the dawn of the first day of the week was near, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the place where his body was. |
Matthew 28:2 | And behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. | and lo, there came a great earthquake, for a messenger of the Lord, having come down out of heaven, having come, did roll away the stone from the door, and was sitting upon it, | And there was a great earth-shock; for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, rolling back the stone, took his seat on it. |
Matthew 28:3 | His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow. | and his countenance was as lightning, and his clothing white as snow, | His form was shining like the light, and his clothing was white as snow: |
Matthew 28:4 | And for fear of him the keepers trembled and became as dead men. | and from the fear of him did the keepers shake, and they became as dead men. | And for fear of him the watchmen were shaking, and became as dead men. |
Matthew 28:5 | And the angel answered and said to the women, Fear ye not: for I know that ye seek Jesus, who was crucified. | And the messenger answering said to the women, `Fear not ye, for I have known that Jesus, who hath been crucified, ye seek; | And the angel said to the women, Have no fear: for I see that you are searching for Jesus, who was put to death on the cross. |
Matthew 28:6 | He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. | he is not here, for he rose, as he said; come, see the place where the Lord was lying; | He is not here, for he has come to life again, even as he said. Come, see the Lord's resting-place. |
Matthew 28:7 | And go quickly, and tell his disciples, that he is risen from the dead, and behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. | and having gone quickly, say ye to his disciples, that he rose from the dead; and lo, he doth go before you to Galilee, there ye shall see him; lo, I have told you.` | And go quickly and give his disciples the news that he has come back from the dead, and is going before you into Galilee; there you will see him, as I have said to you. |
Matthew 28:8 | And they departed quickly from the sepulcher, with fear and great joy; and ran to bring word to his disciples. | And having gone forth quickly from the tomb, with fear and great joy, they ran to tell to his disciples; | And they went away quickly, with fear and great joy, to give his disciples the news. |
Matthew 28:9 | And as they were going to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came, and held him by the feet, and worshiped him. | and as they were going to tell to his disciples, then lo, Jesus met them, saying, `Hail!` and they having come near, laid hold of his feet, and did bow to him. | And on the way, Jesus came to them, saying, Be glad. And they came and put their hands on his feet, and gave him worship. |
Matthew 28:10 | Then said Jesus to them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren, that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me. | Then saith Jesus to them, `Fear ye not, go away, tell to my brethren that they may go away to Galilee, and there they shall see me.` | Then said Jesus to them, Have no fear: go and give word to my brothers to go into Galilee, and there they will see me. |
Matthew 28:11 | Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and showed to the chief priests all the things that had been done. | And while they are going on, lo, certain of the watch having come to the city, told to the chief priests all the things that happened, | Now, while they were going, some of the watchmen came into the town and gave news to the chief priests of all the things which had taken place. |
Matthew 28:12 | And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, | and having been gathered together with the elders, counsel also having taken, they gave much money to the soldiers, | And when they had come together with those in authority, and had made their decision, they gave much money to the watchmen, saying, |
Matthew 28:13 | Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. | saying, `Say ye, that his disciples having come by night, stole him we being asleep; | Say, His disciples came by night and took him away secretly while we were sleeping. |
Matthew 28:14 | And if this shall come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. | and if this be heard by the governor, we will persuade him, and you keep free from anxiety.` | And if this comes to the ruler's ears, we will see that he does not make you responsible. |
Matthew 28:15 | So they took the money, and did as they were instructed: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day. | And they, having received the money, did as they were taught, and this account was spread abroad among Jews till this day. | So they took the money, and did as they had been ordered: and this account has been current among the Jews till the present time. |
Matthew 28:16 | Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. | And the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mount where Jesus appointed them, | But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had given them orders to go. |
Matthew 28:17 | And when they saw him, they worshiped him: but some doubted. | and having seen him, they bowed to him, but some did waver. | And when they saw him they gave him worship: but some were in doubt. |
Matthew 28:18 | And Jesus came, and spoke to them, saying, All power is given to me in heaven and upon earth. | And having come near, Jesus spake to them, saying, `Given to me was all authority in heaven and on earth; | And Jesus came to them and said, All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. |
Matthew 28:19 | Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. | having gone, then, disciple all the nations, (baptizing them to the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, | Go then, and make disciples of all the nations, giving them baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: |
Matthew 28:20 | Teaching them to observe all things whatever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.
