Philemon 1:1Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellow-laborer,Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timotheus the brother, to Philemon our beloved and fellow-worker,Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our dear helper in the faith,
Philemon 1:2And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the church in thy house:and Apphia the beloved, and Archippus our fellow-soldier, and the assembly in thy house:And to Apphia, our sister, and to Archippus, our brother in God's army, and to the church in your house:
Philemon 1:3Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Philemon 1:4I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,I give thanks to my God, always making mention of thee in my prayers,I give praise to God at all times and make prayer for you,
Philemon 1:5Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus, and towards all saints;hearing of thy love and faith that thou hast unto the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints,Hearing of the love and the faith which you have to the Lord Jesus and to all the saints;
Philemon 1:6That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.that the fellowship of thy faith may become working in the full knowledge of every good thing that [is] in you toward Christ Jesus;That the faith which you have in common with them may be working with power, in the knowledge of every good thing in you, for Christ.
Philemon 1:7For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.for we have much joy and comfort in thy love, because the bowels of the saints have been refreshed through thee, brother.For I had great joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been made strong again through you, brother.
Philemon 1:8Wherefore, though I might be very bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient.Wherefore, having in Christ much boldness to command thee that which is fitAnd so, though I might, in the name of Christ, give you orders to do what is right,
Philemon 1:9Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.because of the love I rather entreat, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ;Still, because of love, in place of an order, I make a request to you, I, Paul, an old man and now a prisoner of Christ Jesus:
Philemon 1:10I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:I entreat thee concerning my child whom I did beget in my bonds Onesimus,My request is for my child Onesimus, the child of my chains,
Philemon 1:11Who in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:who once was to thee unprofitable, and now is profitable to me and to thee,Who in the past was of no profit to you, but now is of profit to you and to me:
Philemon 1:12Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, my own bowels:whom I did send again, and thou him (that is, my own bowels) receive,Whom I have sent back to you, him who is my very heart:
Philemon 1:13Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered to me in the bonds of the gospel:whom I did wish to retain to myself, that in thy behalf he might minister to me in the bonds of the good news,Though my desire was to keep him with me, to be my servant in the chains of the good news, in your place:
Philemon 1:14But without thy mind I would do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.and apart from thy mind I willed to do nothing, that as of necessity thy good deed may not be, but of willingness,But without your approval I would do nothing; so that your good works might not be forced, but done freely from your heart.
Philemon 1:15For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldst receive him for ever;for perhaps because of this he did depart for an hour, that age-duringly thou mayest have him,For it is possible that for this reason he was parted from you for a time, so that you might have him for ever;
Philemon 1:16Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more to thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?no more as a servant, but above a servant a brother beloved, especially to me, and how much more to thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord!No longer as a servant, but more than a servant, a brother, very dear to me specially, but much more to you, in the flesh as well as in the Lord.
Philemon 1:17If thou accountest me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.If, then, with me thou hast fellowship, receive him as me,If then you take me to be your friend and brother, take him in as myself.
Philemon 1:18If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee aught, put that on my account;and if he did hurt to thee, or doth owe anything, this to me be reckoning;If he has done you any wrong or is in debt to you for anything, put it to my account.
Philemon 1:19I Paul have written it with my own hand, I will repay it: although I do not say to thee that thou owest to me even thy own self besides.I, Paul did write with my hand, I I will repay; that I may not say that also thyself, besides, to me thou dost owe.I, Paul, writing this myself, say, I will make payment to you: and I do not say to you that you are in debt to me even for your life.
Philemon 1:20Yes, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.Yes, brother, may I have profit of thee in the Lord; refresh my bowels in the Lord;So brother, let me have joy of you in the Lord: give new life to my heart in Christ.
Philemon 1:21Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote to thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.having been confident in thy obedience I did write to thee, having known that also above what I may say thou wilt do;Being certain that you will do my desire, I am writing to you, in the knowledge that you will do even more than I say.
Philemon 1:22But at the same time prepare me also a lodging; for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given to you.and at the same time also prepare for me a lodging, for I hope that through your prayers I shall be granted to you.And make a room ready for me; for I am hoping that through your prayers I will be given to you.
Philemon 1:23There salute thee Epaphras, my fellow-prisoner in Christ Jesus;Salute thee doth Epaphras, (my fellow-captive in Christ Jesus,)Epaphras, my brother-prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you his love;
Philemon 1:24Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellow-laborers.Markus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lukas, my fellow-workmen!And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my brother-workers.
Philemon 1:25The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [is] with your spirit! Amen.The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. So be it.
