Hebrews 4:1 | Let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. | We may fear, then, lest a promise being left of entering into His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short, | Let us fear therefore lest the promise being left of entering into his rest, any of you should be thought to be wanting. |
Hebrews 4:2 | For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. | for we also are having good news proclaimed, even as they, but the word heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard, | For unto us also it hath been declared, in like manner as unto them. But the word of hearing did not profit them, not being mixed with faith of those things they heard. |
Hebrews 4:3 | For we who have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. | for we do enter into the rest we who did believe, as He said, `So I sware in My anger, If they shall enter into My rest ;` and yet the works were done from the foundation of the world, | For we, who have believed, shall enter into rest; as he said: As I have sworn in my wrath; If they shall enter into my rest; and this indeed when the works from the foundation of the world were finished. |
Hebrews 4:4 | For he spoke in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God rested the seventh day from all his works. | for He spake in a certain place concerning the seventh [day] thus: `And God did rest in the seventh day from all His works;` | For in a certain place he spoke of the seventh day thus: And God rested the seventh day from all his works. |
Hebrews 4:5 | And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. | and in this [place] again, `If they shall enter into My rest ;` | And in this place again: If they shall enter into my rest. |
Hebrews 4:6 | Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter into it, and they to whom it was first preached entered not because of unbelief: | since then, it remaineth for certain to enter into it, and those who did first hear good news entered not in because of unbelief | Seeing then it remaineth that some are to enter into it, and they, to whom it was first preached, did not enter because of unbelief: |
Hebrews 4:7 | (Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To-day, after so long a time; as it is said, To-day, if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. | again He doth limit a certain day, `To-day,` (in David saying, after so long a time,) as it hath been said, `To-day, if His voice ye may hear, ye may not harden your hearts,` | Again he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time, as it is above said: To day if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts. |
Hebrews 4:8 | For if Jesus had given them rest, then he would not afterward have spoken of another day. | for if Joshua had given them rest, He would not concerning another day have spoken after these things; | For if Jesus had given them rest, he would never have afterwards spoken of another day. |
Hebrews 4:9 | There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. | there doth remain, then, a sabbatic rest to the people of God, | There remaineth therefore a day of rest for the people of God. |
Hebrews 4:10 | For he that hath entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.) | for he who did enter into his rest, he also rested from his works, as God from His own. | For he that is entered into his rest, the same also hath rested from his works, as God did from his. |
Hebrews 4:11 | Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. | May we be diligent, then, to enter into that rest, that no one in the same example of the unbelief may fall, | Let us hasten therefore to enter into that rest; lest any man fall into the same example of unbelief. |
Hebrews 4:12 | For the word of God is living, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. | for the reckoning of God is living, and working, and sharp above every two-edged sword, and piercing unto the dividing asunder both of soul and spirit, of joints also and marrow, and a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart; | For the word of God is living and effectual, and more piercing than any two edged sword; and reaching unto the division of the soul and the spirit, of the joints also and the marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. |
Hebrews 4:13 | Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of him with whom we have to do. | and there is not a created thing not manifest before Him, but all things [are] naked and open to His eyes with whom is our reckoning. | Neither is there any creature invisible in his sight: but all things are naked and open to his eyes, to whom our speech is. |
Hebrews 4:14 | Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that hath passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. | Having, then, a great chief priest passed through the heavens Jesus the Son of God may we hold fast the profession, | Having therefore a great high priest that hath passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God: let us hold fast our confession. |
Hebrews 4:15 | For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but who was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. | for we have not a chief priest unable to sympathise with our infirmities, but [one] tempted in all things in like manner apart from sin; | For we have not a high priest, who can not have compassion on our infirmities: but one tempted in all things like as we are, without sin. |
Hebrews 4:16 | Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. | we may come near, then, with freedom, to the throne of the grace, that we may receive kindness, and find grace for seasonable help. | Let us go therefore with confidence to the throne of grace: that we may obtain mercy, and find grace in seasonable aid. |
