John 12:1Then Jesus, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.Jesus, therefore, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where was Lazarus, who had died, whom he raised out of the dead;Jesus therefore, six days before the pasch, came to Bethania, where Lazarus had been dead, whom Jesus raised to life.
John 12:2There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.they made, therefore, to him a supper there, and Martha was ministering, and Lazarus was one of those reclining together (at meat) with him;And they made him a supper there: and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that were at table with him.
John 12:3Then Mary took a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.Mary, therefore, having taken a pound of ointment of spikenard, of great price, anointed the feet of Jesus and did wipe with her hair his feet, and the house was filled from the fragrance of the ointment.Mary therefore took a pound of ointment of right spikenard, of great price, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
John 12:4Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who was to betray him,Therefore saith one of his disciples Judas Iscariot, of Simon, who is about to deliver him upThen one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, he that was about to betray him, said:
John 12:5Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?`Wherefore was not this ointment sold for three hundred denaries, and given to the poor?`Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
John 12:6This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bore what was put in it.and he said this, not because he was caring for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and what things were put in he was carrying.Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and having the purse, carried the things that were put therein.
John 12:7Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burial hath she kept this.Jesus, therefore, said, `Suffer her; for the day of my embalming she hath kept it,Jesus therefore said: Let her alone, that she may keep it against the day of my burial.
John 12:8For the poor ye have always with you; but me ye have not always.for the poor ye have always with yourselves, and me ye have not always.`For the poor you have always with you; but me you have not always.
John 12:9Many people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.A great multitude, therefore, of the Jews knew that he is there, and they came, not because of Jesus only, but that Lazarus also they may see, whom he raised out of the dead;A great multitude therefore of the Jews knew that he was there; and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
John 12:10But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;and the chief priests took counsel, that also Lazarus they may kill,But the chief priests thought to kill Lazarus also:
John 12:11Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.because on account of him many of the Jews were going away, and were believing in Jesus.Because many of the Jews, by reason of him, went away, and believed in Jesus.
John 12:12On the next day, many people that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,On the morrow, a great multitude that came to the feast, having heard that Jesus doth come to Jerusalem,And on the next day, a great multitude that was to come to the festival day, when they had heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
John 12:13Took branches of palm-trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna; Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.took the branches of the palms, and went forth to meet him, and were crying, `Hosanna, blessed [is] he who is coming in the name of the Lord the king of Israel;`Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried: Hosanna, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord, the king of Israel.
John 12:14And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,and Jesus having found a young ass did sit upon it, according as it is written,And Jesus found a young ass, and sat upon it, as it is written:
John 12:15Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.`Fear not, daughter of Sion, lo, thy king doth come, sitting on an ass` colt.`Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy king cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.
John 12:16These things his disciples understood not at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written concerning him, and that they had done these things to him.And these things his disciples did not know at the first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were having been written about him, and these things they did to him.These things his disciples did not know at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things to him.
John 12:17The people therefore that were with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bore testimony.The multitude, therefore, who are with him, were testifying that he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and did raise him out of the dead;The multitude therefore gave testimony, which was with him, when he called Lazarus out of the grave, and raised him from the dead.
John 12:18For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.because of this also did the multitude meet him, because they heard of his having done this sign,For which reason also the people came to meet him, because they heard that he had done this miracle.
John 12:19The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.the Pharisees, therefore, said among themselves, `Ye see that ye do not gain anything, lo, the world did go after him.`The Pharisees therefore said among themselves: Do you see that we prevail nothing? behold, the whole world is gone after him.
John 12:20And there were certain Greeks among them, that came to worship at the feast.And there were certain Greeks out of those coming up that they may worship in the feast,Now there were certain Gentiles among them, who came up to adore on the festival day.
John 12:21The same came therefore to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.these then came near to Philip, who [is] from Bethsaida of Galilee, and were asking him, saying, `Sir, we wish to see Jesus;`These therefore came to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying: Sir, we would see Jesus.
John 12:22Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again, Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.Philip cometh and telleth Andrew, and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.Philip cometh, and telleth Andrew. Again Andrew and Philip told Jesus.
John 12:23And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.And Jesus responded to them, saying, `The hour hath come that the Son of Man may be glorified;But Jesus answered them, saying: The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
John 12:24Verily, verily, I say to you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.verily, verily, I say to you, if the grain of the wheat, having fallen to the earth, may not die, itself remaineth alone; and if it may die, it doth bear much fruit;Amen, amen I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falling into the ground die,
John 12:25He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world, shall keep it to life eternal.he who is loving his life shall lose it, and he who is hating his life in this world to life age-during shall keep it;Itself remaineth alone. But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world, keepeth it unto life eternal.
John 12:26If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.if any one may minister to me, let him follow me, and where I am, there also my ministrant shall be; and if any one may minister to me honour him will the Father.If any man minister to me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall my minister be. If any man minister to me, him will my Father honour.
John 12:27Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause I came to this hour.`Now hath my soul been troubled, and what? shall I say Father, save me from this hour? but because of this I came to this hour;Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But for this cause I came unto this hour.
John 12:28Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.Father, glorify Thy name.` There came, therefore, a voice out of the heaven, `I both glorified, and again I will glorify [it];`Father, glorify thy name. A voice therefore came from heaven: I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
John 12:29The people therefore that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered. Others said, An angel spoke to him.the multitude, therefore, having stood and heard, were saying that there hath been thunder; others said, `A messenger hath spoken to him.`The multitude therefore that stood and heard, said that it thundered. Others said: An angel spoke to him.
John 12:30Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.Jesus answered and said, `Not because of me hath this voice come, but because of you;Jesus answered, and said: This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
John 12:31Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.now is a judgment of this world, now shall the ruler of this world be cast forth;Now is the judgment of the world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
John 12:32And I, if I shall be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to me.and I, if I may be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself.`And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all things to myself.
John 12:33(This he said, signifying what death he should die.)And this he said signifying by what death he was about to die;(Now this he said, signifying what death he should die.)
John 12:34The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?the multitude answered him, `We heard out of the law that the Christ doth remain to the age; and how dost thou say, That it behoveth the Son of Man to be lifted up? who is this the Son of Man?`The multitude answered him: We have heard out of the law, that Christ abideth for ever; and how sayest thou: The Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?
John 12:35Then Jesus said to them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.Jesus, therefore, said to them, `Yet a little time is the light with you; walk while ye have the light, that darkness may not overtake you; and he who is walking in the darkness hath not known where he goeth;Jesus therefore said to them: Yet a little while, the light is among you. Walk whilst you have the light, that the darkness overtake you not. And he that walketh in darkness, knoweth not whither he goeth.
John 12:36While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spoke Jesus, and departed, and concealed himself from them.while ye have the light, believe in the light, that sons of light ye may become.` These things spake Jesus, and having gone away, he was hid from them,Whilst you have the light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light. These things Jesus spoke; and he went away, and hid himself from them.
John 12:37But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:yet he having done so many signs before them, they were not believing in him,And whereas he had done so many miracles before them, they believed not in him:
John 12:38That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said, `Lord, who gave credence to our report? and the arm of the Lord to whom was it revealed?`That the saying of Isaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said: Lord, who hath believed our hearing? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
John 12:39Therefore they could not believe, because that Isaiah said again,Because of this they were not able to believe, that again Isaiah said,Therefore they could not believe, because Isaias said again:
John 12:40He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.`He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they might not see with the eyes, and understand with the heart, and turn back, and I might heal them;`He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
John 12:41These things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.these things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.These things said Isaias, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.
John 12:42Nevertheless, among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:Still, however, also out of the rulers did many believe in him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing, that they might not be put out of the synagogue,However, many of the chief men also believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, that they might not be cast out of the synagogue.
John 12:43For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.
John 12:44Jesus cried, and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me:And Jesus cried and said, `He who is believing in me, doth not believe in me, but in Him who sent me;But Jesus cried, and said: He that believeth in me, doth not believe in me, but in him that sent me.
John 12:45And he that seeth me, seeth him that sent me:and he who is beholding me, doth behold Him who sent me;And he that seeth me, seeth him that sent me.
John 12:46I am come a light into the world, that whoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.I a light to the world have come, that every one who is believing in me in the darkness may not remain;I am come a light into the world; that whosoever believeth in me, may not remain in darkness.
John 12:47And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.and if any one may hear my sayings, and not believe, I I do not judge him, for I came not that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world.And if any man hear my words, and keep them not, I do not judge him: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
John 12:48He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.`He who is rejecting me, and not receiving my sayings, hath one who is judging him, the word that I spake, that will judge him in the last day,He that despiseth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him; the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
John 12:49For I have not spoken from myself; but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.because I spake not from myself, but the Father who sent me, He did give me a command, what I may say, and what I may speak,For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father who sent me, he gave me commandment what I should say, and what I should speak.
John 12:50And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatever I speak therefore, even as the Father said to me, so I speak.and I have known that His command is life age-during; what, therefore, I speak, according as the Father hath said to me, so I speak.`And I know that his commandment is life everlasting. The things therefore that I speak, even as the Father said unto me, so do I speak.
