Matthew 25:1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened to ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.`Then shall the reign of the heavens be likened to ten virgins, who, having taken their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom;"Then will the Kingdom of the Heavens be found to be like ten bridesmaids who took their torches and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Matthew 25:2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.and five of them were prudent, and five foolish;Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
Matthew 25:3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:they who were foolish having taken their lamps, did not take with themselves oil;For the foolish, when they took their torches, did not provide themselves with oil;
Matthew 25:4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.and the prudent took oil in their vessels, with their lamps.but the wise, besides their torches, took oil in their flasks.
Matthew 25:5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.`And the bridegroom tarrying, they all nodded and were sleeping,The bridegroom was a long time in coming, so that meanwhile they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
Matthew 25:6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.and in the middle of the night a cry was made, Lo, the bridegroom doth come; go ye forth to meet him.But at midnight there is a loud cry, "`The bridegroom! Go out and meet him!'
Matthew 25:7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.`Then rose all those virgins, and trimmed their lamps,"Then all those bridesmaids roused themselves and trimmed their torches.
Matthew 25:8And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil: for our lamps are gone out.and the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out;"`Give us some of your oil,' said the foolish ones to the wise, `for our torches are going out.'
Matthew 25:9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.and the prudent answered, saying Lest there may not be sufficient for us and you, go ye rather unto those selling, and buy for yourselves."`But perhaps,' replied the wise, `there will not be enough for all of us. Go to the shops rather, and buy some for yourselves.'
Matthew 25:10And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready, went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut.`And while they are going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those ready went in with him to the marriage-feasts, and the door was shut;"So they went to buy. But meanwhile the bridegroom came; those bridesmaids who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet; and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.and afterwards come also do the rest of the virgins, saying, Sir, sir, open to us;"Afterwards the other bridesmaids came and cried, "`Sir, Sir, open the door to us.'
Matthew 25:12But he answered and said, Verily I say to you, I know you not.and he answering said, Verily I say to you, I have not known you."`In solemn truth I tell you,' he replied, `I do not know you.'
Matthew 25:13Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of man cometh.`Watch therefore, for ye have not known the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man doth come."Keep awake therefore; for you know neither the day nor the hour.
Matthew 25:14For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered to them his goods.`For as a man going abroad did call his own servants, and did deliver to them his substance,"Why, it is like a man who, when going on his travels, called his bondservants and entrusted his property to their care.
Matthew 25:15And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and forthwith took his journey.and to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his several ability, went abroad immediately.To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one to each according to his individual capacity; and then started from home.
Matthew 25:16Then he that had received the five talents, went and traded with the same, and gained other five talents.`And he who did receive the five talents, having gone, wrought with them, and made other five talents;Without delay the one who had received the five talents went and employed them in business, and gained five more.
Matthew 25:17And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.in like manner also he who [received] the two, he gained, also he, other two;In the same way he who had the two gained two more.
Matthew 25:18But he that had received one, went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.and he who did receive the one, having gone away, digged in the earth, and hid his lord`s money.But the man who had received the one went and dug a hole and buried his master's money.
Matthew 25:19After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.`And after a long time cometh the lord of those servants, and taketh reckoning with them;"After a long lapse of time the master of those servants returned, and had a reckoning with them.
Matthew 25:20And he that had received five talents, came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst to me five talents: behold, I have gained besides them five talents more.and he who did receive the five talents having come, brought other five talents, saying, `Sir, five talents thou didst deliver to me; lo, other five talents did I gain besides them.The one who had received the five talents came and brought five more, and said, "`Sir, it was five talents that you entrusted to me: see, I have gained five more.'
Matthew 25:21His lord said to him, Well done thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.`And his lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things thou wast faithful, over many things I will set thee; enter into the joy of thy lord."`You have done well, good and trustworthy servant,' replied his master; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'
Matthew 25:22He also that had received two talents came, and said, Lord, thou deliveredst to me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents besides them.`And he who also did receive the two talents having come, said, Sir, two talents thou didst deliver to me; lo, other two talents I did gain besides them."The second, who had received the two talents, came and said, "`Sir, it was two talents you entrusted to me: see, I have gained two more.'
Matthew 25:23His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.`His lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things thou wast faithful, over many things I will set thee; enter into the joy of thy lord."`Good and trustworthy servant, you have done well,' his master replied; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'
Matthew 25:24Then he who had received the one talent came, and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strewed:`And he also who hath received the one talent having come, said, Sir, I knew thee, that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering from whence thou didst not scatter;"But, next, the man who had the one talent in his keeping came and said, "`Sir, I knew you to be a severe man, reaping where you had not sown and garnering what you had not winnowed.
Matthew 25:25And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast what is thine.and having been afraid, having gone away, I hid thy talent in the earth; lo, thou hast thine own!So being afraid I went and buried your talent in the ground: there you have what belongs to you.'
Matthew 25:26His lord answered and said to him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not strewed:`And his lord answering said to him, Evil servant, and slothful, thou hadst known that I reap where I did not sow, and I gather whence I did not scatter!"`You wicked and slothful servant,' replied his master, `did you know that I reap where I have not sown, and garner what I have not winnowed?
Matthew 25:27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received my own with interest.it behoved thee then to put my money to the money-lenders, and having come I had received mine own with increase.Your duty then was to deposit my money in some bank, and so when I came I should have got back my property with interest.
Matthew 25:28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who hath ten talents.`Take therefore from him the talent, and give to him having the ten talents,So take away the talent from him, and give it to the man who has the ten.'
Matthew 25:29For to every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.for to every one having shall be given, and he shall have overabundance, and from him who is not having, even that which he hath shall be taken from him;(For to every one who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him who has nothing, even what he has shall be taken away.)
Matthew 25:30And cast ye the unprofitable servant into utter darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.and the unprofitable servant cast ye forth to the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.`But as for this worthless servant, put him out into the darkness outside: *there* will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.'
Matthew 25:31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then will he sit upon the throne of his glory:`And whenever the Son of Man may come in his glory, and all the holy messengers with him, then he shall sit upon a throne of his glory;"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then will He sit upon His glorious throne,
Matthew 25:32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:and gathered together before him shall be all the nations, and he shall separate them from one another, as the shepherd doth separate the sheep from the goats,and all the nations will be gathered into His presence. And He will separate them from one another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;
Matthew 25:33And he will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.and he shall set the sheep indeed on his right hand, and the goats on the left.and will make the sheep stand at His right hand, and the goats at His left.
Matthew 25:34Then will the King say to them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:`Then shall the king say to those on his right hand, Come ye, the blessed of my Father, inherit the reign that hath been prepared for you from the foundation of the world;"Then the King will say to those at His right, "`Come, my Father's blessed ones, receive your inheritance of the Kingdom which has been divinely intended for you ever since the creation of the world.
Matthew 25:35For I was hungry, and ye gave me food: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:for I did hunger, and ye gave me to eat; I did thirst, and ye gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and ye received me;For when I was hungry, you gave me food; when I was thirsty, you gave me drink; when I was homeless, you gave me a welcome;
Matthew 25:36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came to me.naked, and ye put around me; I was infirm, and ye looked after me; in prison I was, and ye came unto me.when I was ill-clad, you clothed me; when I was sick, you visited me; when I was in prison, you came to see me.'
Matthew 25:37Then will the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?`Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungering, and we nourished? or thirsting, and we gave to drink?"`When, Lord,' the righteous will reply, `did we see Thee hungry, and feed Thee; or thirsty, and give Thee drink?
Matthew 25:38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?and when did we see thee a stranger, and we received? or naked, and we put around?When did we see Thee homeless, and give Thee a welcome? or ill-clad, and clothe Thee?
Matthew 25:39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came to thee?and when did we see thee infirm, or in prison, and we came unto thee?When did we see Thee sick or in prison, and come to see Thee?'
Matthew 25:40And the king will answer and say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me.`And the king answering, shall say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] to one of these my brethren the least to me ye did [it]."But the King will answer them, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you rendered such services to one of the humblest of these my brethren, you rendered them to myself.'
Matthew 25:41Then will he say also to them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:Then shall he say also to those on the left hand, Go ye from me, the cursed, to the fire, the age-during, that hath been prepared for the Devil and his messengers;"Then will He say to those at His left, "`Begone from me, with the curse resting upon you, into the Fire of the Ages, which has been prepared for the Devil and his angels.
Matthew 25:42For I was hungry, and ye gave me no food: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:for I did hunger, and ye gave me not to eat; I did thirst, and ye gave me not to drink;For when I was hungry, you gave me nothing to eat; when thirsty, you gave me nothing to drink;
Matthew 25:43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.a stranger I was, and ye did not receive me; naked, and ye put not around me; infirm, and in prison, and ye did not look after me.when homeless, you gave me no welcome; ill-clad, you clothed me not; sick or in prison, you visited me not.'
Matthew 25:44Then will they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee?`Then shall they answer, they also, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or infirm, or in prison, and we did not minister to thee?"Then will they also answer, "`Lord, when did we see Thee hungry or thirsty or homeless or ill-clad or sick or in prison, and not come to serve Thee?'
Matthew 25:45Then will he answer them, saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.`Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] not to one of these, the least, ye did [it] not to me."But he will reply, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you withheld such services from one of the humblest of these, you withheld them from me.'
Matthew 25:46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.And these shall go away to punishment age-during, but the righteous to life age-during.`"And these shall go away into the Punishment of the Ages, but the righteous into the Life of the Ages."
