Acts 14:1 | At Iconium the Apostles went together to the Jewish synagogue and preached, with the result that a great number both of Jews and Greeks believed. | And it came to pass in Iconium that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed. | Now in Iconium they went together to the Synagogue of the Jews and gave such teaching that a great number of Jews and Greeks had faith. |
Acts 14:2 | But the Jews who had refused obedience stirred up the Gentiles and embittered their minds against the brethren. | But the Jews that were disobedient stirred up the souls of the Gentiles, and made them evil affected against the brethren. | But those Jews who had not the faith, made the minds of the Gentiles bitter against the brothers. |
Acts 14:3 | Yet Paul and Barnabas remained there for a considerable time, speaking freely and relying on the Lord, while He bore witness to the Message of His grace by permitting signs and marvels to be done by them. | Long time therefore they tarried [there] speaking boldly in the Lord, who bare witness unto the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands. | So they kept there for a long time, taking heart in the Lord, who gave witness to the word of his grace by causing signs and wonders to be done by their hands. |
Acts 14:4 | At length the people of the city split into parties, some siding with the Jews and some with the Apostles. | But the multitude of the city was divided; and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles. | But there was a division among the people of the town; some were on the side of the Jews and some on the side of the Apostles. |
Acts 14:5 | And when a hostile movement was made by both Gentiles and Jews, with the sanction of their magistrates, to maltreat and stone them, | And when there was made an onset both of the Gentiles and of the Jews with their rulers, to treat them shamefully and to stone them, | And when a violent attempt was made by the Gentiles and the Jews, with their rulers, to make an attack on them and have them stoned, |
Acts 14:6 | the Apostles, having become aware of it, made their escape into the Lycaonian towns of Lystra and Derbe, and the neighbouring country. | they became aware of it, and fled unto the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the region round about: | Having got news of it, they went in flight to the towns of Lycaonia, Lystra, and Derbe, and the country round about: |
Acts 14:7 | And there they continued to tell the Good News. | and there they preached the gospel. | And went on preaching the good news there. |
Acts 14:8 | Now a man who had no power in his feet used to sit in the streets of Lystra. He had been lame from his birth and had never walked. | And at Lystra there sat a certain man, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked. | And at Lystra there was a certain man, who from birth had been without the use of his feet, never having had the power of walking. |
Acts 14:9 | After this man had listened to one of Paul's sermons, the Apostle, looking steadily at him and perceiving that he had faith to be cured, | The same heard Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes upon him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole, | This man was giving ear to the preaching of Paul, who, looking at him, and seeing that he had faith to be made well, |
Acts 14:10 | said in a loud voice, "Stand upright upon your feet!" | said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped up and walked. | Said in a loud voice, Get up on your feet. And, jumping up, he went walking about. |
Acts 14:11 | So he sprang up and began to walk about. Then the crowds, seeing what Paul had done, rent the air with their shouts in the Lycaonian language, saying, "The gods have assumed human form and have come down to us." | And when the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men. | And when the people saw what Paul had done, they said in a loud voice, in the language of Lycaonia, The gods have come down to us in the form of men. |
Acts 14:12 | They called Barnabas `Zeus,' and Paul, as being the principal speaker, `Hermes.' | And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercury, because he was the chief speaker. | And they gave the name of Jupiter to Barnabas, and to Paul that of Mercury, because he was the chief talker. |
Acts 14:13 | And the priest of Zeus the temple of Zeus being at the entrance to the city brought bullocks and garlands to the gates, and in company with the crowd was intending to offer sacrifices to them. | And the priest of Jupiter whose [temple] was before the city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the multitudes. | And the priest of the image of Jupiter, which was before the town, took oxen and flowers to the doors of the town, and was about to make an offering with the people. |
Acts 14:14 | But the Apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it; and tearing their clothes they rushed out into the middle of the crowd, exclaiming, "Sirs, why are you doing all this? | But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they rent their garments, and sprang forth among the multitude, crying out | But when this came to the ears of the Apostles, Paul and Barnabas, they went running out among the people, parting their clothing, and crying out, |
Acts 14:15 | We also are but men, with natures kindred to your own; and we bring you the Good News that you are to turn from these unreal things, to worship the ever-living God, the Creator of earth and sky and sea and of everything that is in them. | and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good tidings, that ye should turn from these vain things unto a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is: | Good people, why are you doing these things? We are men with the same feelings as you, and we give you the good news so that you may be turned away from these foolish things to the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all things in them: |
Acts 14:16 | In times gone by He allowed all the nations to go their own ways; | who in the generations gone by suffered all the nations to walk in their own ways. | Who in the past let all nations go in the ways which seemed good to them. |
Acts 14:17 | and yet by His beneficence He has not left His existence unattested His beneficence, I mean, in sending you rain from Heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and joyfulness." | And yet He left not himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you from heaven rains and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness. | But he was not without witness, because he did good, and gave you rain from heaven and times of fruit, making your hearts full of food and joy. |
Acts 14:18 | Even with words like these they had difficulty in preventing the thronging crowd from offering sacrifices to them. | And with these sayings scarce restrained they the multitudes from doing sacrifice unto them. | And even with these words, it was hard for them to keep the people from making an offering to them. |
Acts 14:19 | But now a party of Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and, having won over the crowd, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the town, believing him to be dead. | But there came Jews thither from Antioch and Iconium: and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead. | But some Jews came to that place from Antioch and Iconium, and got control over the people; and after stoning Paul, they had him pulled out of the town, taking him for dead. |
Acts 14:20 | When, however, the disciples had collected round him, he rose and went back into the town. The next day he went with Barnabas to Derbe; | But as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and entered into the city: and on the morrow he went forth with Barnabas to Derbe. | But when the disciples came round him, he got up and went into the town: and the day after he went away with Barnabas to Derbe. |

Acts 14:23 | And in every Church, after prayer and fasting, they selected Elders by show of hands, and commended them to the Lord on whom their faith rested. | And when they had appointed for them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed. | And when they had made selection of some to be rulers in every church, and had given themselves to prayer and kept themselves from food, they put them into the care of the Lord in whom they had faith. |

Acts 14:27 | Upon their arrival they called the Church together and proceeded to report in detail all that God, working with them, had done, and how He had opened for the Gentiles the door of faith. | And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith unto the Gentiles. | And when they came there, and had got the church together, they gave them an account of all the things which God had done through them, and how he had made open a door of faith to the Gentiles. |
Acts 14:28 | And they remained a considerable time in Antioch with the disciples. | And they tarried no little time with the disciples. | And they were with the disciples there for a long time. |
