| Acts 28:1 | Our lives having been thus preserved, we discovered that the island was called Malta. | And when we were escaped, then we knew that the island was called Melita. | And when we got safe [to land] we then knew that the island was called Melita. |
| Acts 28:2 | The strange-speaking natives showed us remarkable kindness, for they lighted a fire and made us all welcome because of the pelting rain and the cold. | And the barbarians showed us no common kindness; for they kindled a fire, and received us all, because of the present rain, and because of the cold. | But the barbarians shewed us no common kindness; for, having kindled a fire, they took us all in because of the rain that was falling and because of the cold. |
