Romans 10:1Brethren, the longing of my heart, and my prayer to God, on behalf of my countrymen is for their salvation.Brethren, my heart's desire and my supplication to God is for them, that they may be saved. Brethren, the delight of my own heart and my supplication which [I address] to God for them is for salvation.
Romans 10:2For I bear witness that they possess an enthusiasm for God, but it is an unenlightened enthusiasm. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For I bear them witness that they have zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
Romans 10:3Ignorant of the righteousness which God provides and building their hopes upon a righteousness of their own, they have refused submission to God's righteousness. For being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. For they, being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own [righteousness], have not submitted to the righteousness of God.
Romans 10:4For as a means of righteousness Christ is the termination of Law to every believer. For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to every one that believeth. For Christ is [the] end of law for righteousness to every one that believes.
Romans 10:5Moses says that he whose actions conform to the righteousness required by the Law shall live by that righteousness. For Moses writeth that the man that doeth the righteousness which is of the law shall live thereby. For Moses lays down in writing the righteousness which is of the law, The man who has practised those things shall live by them.
Romans 10:6But the righteousness which is based on faith speaks in a different tone. "Say not in your heart," it declares, "`Who shall ascend to Heaven?'" that is, to bring Christ down;But the righteousness which is of faith saith thus, Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down:) But the righteousness of faith speaks thus: Do not say in thine heart, Who shall ascend to the heavens? that is, to bring Christ down;
Romans 10:7"nor `Who shall go down into the abyss?'" that is, to bring Christ up again from the grave.or, Who shall descend into the abyss? (That is, to bring Christ up from the dead.) or, Who shall descend into the abyss? that is, to bring up Christ from among [the] dead.
Romans 10:8But what does it say? "The Message is close to you, in your mouth and in your heart;" that is, the Message which we are publishing about the faithBut what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach: But what says it? The word is near thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach:
Romans 10:9that if with your mouth you confess Jesus as Lord and in your heart believe that God brought Him back to life, you shall be saved.because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus [as] Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved: that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from among [the] dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:10For with the heart men believe and obtain righteousness, and with the mouth they make confession and obtain salvation.for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For with [the] heart is believed to righteousness; and with [the] mouth confession made to salvation.
Romans 10:11The Scripture says, "No one who believes in Him shall have reason to feel ashamed."For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shame. For the scripture says, No one believing on him shall be ashamed.
Romans 10:12Jew and Gentile are on precisely the same footing; for the same Lord is Lord over all, and is infinitely kind to all who call upon Him for deliverance. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek: for the same [Lord] is Lord of all, and is rich unto all that call upon him: For there is no difference of Jew and Greek; for the same Lord of all [is] rich towards all that call upon him.
Romans 10:13For "every one, without exception, who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."for, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. For every one whosoever, who shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved.
Romans 10:14But how are they to call on One in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in One whose voice they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? How then shall they call upon him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe on him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without one who preaches?
Romans 10:15And how are men to preach unless they have been sent to do so? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good!"and how shall they preach, except they be sent? even as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that bring glad tidings of good things! and how shall they preach unless they have been sent? according as it is written, How beautiful the feet of them that announce glad tidings of peace, of them that announce glad tidings of good things!
Romans 10:16But, some will say, they have not all hearkened to the Good News. No, for Isaiah asks, "Lord, who has believed the Message they have heard from us?"But they did not all hearken to the glad tidings. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? But they have not all obeyed the glad tidings. For Esaias says, Lord, who has believed our report?
Romans 10:17And this proves that faith comes from a Message heard, and that the Message comes through its having been spoken by Christ. So belief [cometh] of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. So faith then [is] by a report, but the report by God's word.
Romans 10:18But, I ask, have they not heard? Yes, indeed: "To the whole world the preachers' voices have sounded forth, and their words to the remotest parts of the earth."But I say, Did they not hear? Yea, verily, Their sound went out into all the earth, And their words unto the ends of the world. But I say, Have they not heard? Yea, surely, Their voice has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the extremities of the habitable world.
Romans 10:19But again, did Israel fail to understand? Listen to Moses first. He says, "I will fire you with jealousy against a nation which is no nation, and with fury against a nation devoid of understanding."But I say, Did Israel not know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, With a nation void of understanding will I anger you. But I say, Has not Israel known? First, Moses says, *I* will provoke you to jealousy through [them that are] not a nation: through a nation without understanding I will anger you.
Romans 10:20And Isaiah, with strange boldness, exclaims, "I have been found by those who were not looking for Me, I have revealed Myself to those who were not inquiring of Me."And Isaiah is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I became manifest unto them that asked not of me. But Esaias is very bold, and says, I have been found by those not seeking me; I have become manifest to those not inquiring after me.
Romans 10:21While as to Israel he says, "All day long I have stretched out My arms to a self-willed and fault-finding people."But as to Israel he saith, All the day long did I spread out my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people. But unto Israel he says, All the day long I have stretched out my hands unto a people disobeying and opposing.
